Franken drove home the point that medical bankruptcies are unheard of in countries with viable heath care systems.

Digg!

What Sarah Palin's "Jewish people will be flocking to Israel" prediction really means
Palin's associated with a religious tendency whose leaders promote anti-Jewish conspiracy theory

Hmmm ... Why Do So Many Wingnuts Have Such an Obsessive Fear of Being Raped?
It's all they can talk about in the right-wing media.

As one who regularly listened to Franken's radio program and read his books, aside from his comedic persona, he is a very serious thinker with a progressive agenda. Minnesota and the whole country are lucky to have him in the senate. We should expect great things from Senator Franken following in the footsteps of the late great Paul Wellstone.

... her comment were legitimate, that still leaves you with a higher survival rate.... IF you can afford care, and if your insurance isn't canceled because you got sick. And even then you are likely to STILL be in huge amounts of debt even if your insurance wasn't canceled because... guess what... part of the way they make their money as the middlemen they are is to make sure that serious illnesses STILL cost policy holders tons of money out of their own pockets... in addition to all the money they have paid in, usually for years, to have insurance.

When she could no longer make any valid comment on the topic at hand (bankruptcies).. she changed the topic to someplace where she thought she could score points (cure rates). .

The fact that Al would have none of it showcases how the forces of Truth & Justice have finally gotten smart.

But seriously. Smart, no-crap people are hot. I am so glad Al made it into Congress. Unlike Obama, who spends way too much time placating the right, Al remains uncompromising on his liberal values.

Move to Minnesota so Big Al can be my senator or move to Florida so Alan Grayson can be my congressman.

Come to think of it, maybe we should just elect more people named Al.

Is anyone else slogging through their company's literature on upcoming benefits changes during their "open enrollment season?" Are anyone else's benefits going to become a lot more expensive on January 1st? We'll have larger co-pays, larger deductibles, and something called "coinsurance," that we didn't have before. Coinsurance means that even after you've paid all your out-of-pocket expenses for the year, there will still be a percentage of covered services that you are responsible for!

It seems to me that the insurance companies are getting greedier than ever in anticipation of losing profits after health care reform has passed. And they aren't trying to hide it.

I love you, Al Franken. Please keep fighting for us.

Some of our best people stay in a place where they can do the most good. More importantly, speak their minds. Ted Kennedy, Henry Waxman, Russ Feingold, and a lot of others who consistently act in the best interest of the people. Big Al is right where we need him. ANNA

Oh, I giggled with pure pleasure at watching that rich bitch being skewered with logic.

You know what would be classic?

Getting one of the dumbass talking heads Beck, Hannity or O'Reilly to invite the senator onto their show to debate this stuff.
Of course, it won't happen since they are all fully aware that He'd present them with their ass on a tray.

But, Oh, I can dream!

The fact is and has been proven to the satisfaction of any sentient being is that first, socialism is not Joe Stalin, or anything like that. Second this country already has single payer entities such as fire and police, and as Ems providers continue to become the purvue of the Fire Departments nationwide, that two will be a third city service, and paid for exclusively by tax dollars. Third, single payer medical providers have been shown to work perfectly in Europe and other place in the world. Rotten information is passed to uninformed ideologically driven people, a terrible combination, and you get people that hate the very help they need. It seems Americans are brainwashed to believe that if they don't pay through the nose for it, it's no good. Stupidity is the very issue that has brought America to the precipice today. A pathetic criminal regime such as the one present and past in Washington couldn't exist with an intelligent, sophisticated electorate.

Franken is the new kid on the block. Politics have a way of screwing up otherwise fairly decent people via power, money, and greed. Let's hope Al is immune.
