The Federal Reserve is one of the most powerful and secretive institutions in Washington, long considered beyond the reach of lawmakers. But now, as details emerge of how the Fed secretly doled out more than a trillion dollars during the financial crisis, a rare bipartisan movement in Congress demands that the Fed be held accountable.

Digg!

Ron Paul is the most important politician in America today, besides Obama, I suppose.

If they are serious about "auditing the Fed"..which I frankly don't think they will ever do" ..but if someone is insane enough to do this.. I assure you Obama will not last ...so the reality is it will probably be a little "dog and pony "show to appease the masses.

I heard blogs AND COMMENTS on blog posts mentioned on TV today.

I think before today the people on TV did not pay much attention to comments, preferring to think of us as completely irrelevant. Surprise, surprise.

It was in a mention of HuffPost and how angry folks are about the warrant-less spying. I was commenting there quite freely this morning in the stories about the president's illegal spying program (PISP) so naturally I was interested in what the talking heads had to say about us.

It was nice to be recognized.

This is a development I never expected to see in my lifetime. The FED, a privately owned entity that controls the money supply with virtually no oversight has behaved with such egregious perverted greed that it has cast a light upon itself which reveals the depths of its' usurpation of the powers Congress so foolishly bestowed upon it. This is your classic case of absolute power corrupting absolutely. The audacity of this organization, having already put this once great nations' economy on the rocks, to do it again and then rob the treasury of not only the cash on hand but many decades of its' future taxes shows the complete and utter disregard of the hard working members of society which make it all possible. Not content with most of the golden eggs, these greedy bastards have killed the goose that lays them. Of course you realize that they will go to any length to stop any meaningful audit. They have already killed two of our presidents and only God knows how many others that got too close to the truth. The facts speak for themselves; the state of the economy and the secrecy of the FED should be all that is needed to revoke their charter and control the money supply directly through the Treasury. Of course we would have to remove the crooks who occupy Washington at present.

The more the information about where the public money is going or gone, has the public awakening to the bureaucracy that holds the cards. people are justifiably getting frustrated. Nancy Pelosi is reading a book which has long outdated itself on the political arena & that is considered rather old hat propaganda.

it was stultifying to see Bernanke talk about the "loss of financial stability of our monetary policy if we audit the fed. What "financial stability?"

If that is what they are supposed to do, they don't do it very well.

Audit the fed. Vote our any representative or Senator who votes against this law.

Go ahead and audit the fed to show that we are fair-minded. Then throw the bastards in prison. State prison.

Those auditors should watch their back

The Fed Reserve is akin to the Egyptian temple priests who were outraged and out of the job after their pharoah, akhenaten, established an all-in-one diety. But that didn't last long and the priests regained their power and stature after the pharoah was deposed thru a revolt.

The Fed Reserve like things the way they are. They don't like present-day pharoahs changing the set-up they had carefully presided over since 1913 and will stop at nothing to make sure it stays that way, including perhaps blackmailing the auditors and their congressional supporters. And even worse.

Even if they don't do it, and even if it does end up a 'dog and pony' show, it's still the best news I've heard today.

The Federal Reserve "Bank"

Is not a bank at all, not in the usual sense.
It's a criminal organization of and for the enrichment and benefit of those already obscenely wealthy, and reaching for ever more wealth and power.
Don't think so?
Try to open a checking or savings account with them.
Try to secure a signature or mortgage loan from them.
Go to the main building or any of the satellite facilities, nationwide, and try to do the above.
You'll be tossed out on your ear.
The "Federal Reserve" is nothing more or less than a clearing house for avaricious CROOKS. It's hopelessly corrupt and needs to be brought DOWN, and the sooner, the better.
Maybe that's what's behind the calls for an audit. I can dream, can't I?
