That is why the SEC as a regulatory agency was formed in the first place. There is simply nothing that we can do about it. Faith in the "masses" is misplaced. You can serve the truth to them on a platter and it will have the same minimal effect as a meal. Some will thank you for your hard work in the interest of informing them; most will glance at the article and ignore it. In the end, all the truth in universe will not and can not enlighten these "masses." Truth is deflected by the ideological structures and frameworks in their brains: Capitalism is right; it is always and everywhere right and best. The Christian Religion is right; it is always and everywhere right and best; Western Culture is right; it is always and everywhere right and best; America is right; it is always and everywhere right and best. Etc. Etc. Oh, yes. Individuals can be caught and hanged to provide mass expiation and catharsis, but the institutions themselves can never be wrong. If Goldman Sachs were to give up one sacrificial offering in the form of a "rogue," a "bad apple," who is responsible for the unethical doings cited by Taibbi, the "masses" would be quite satisfied and would go back to their drudgery cleansed and appeased, their faith in capital unshaken.
