Everyone agrees: The populist fires are burning. But what's next? Bob Borosage, co-director of the Campaign for America's Future, thinks our historic moment could push Obama farther to the left. But only if the forces of the left start pushing.

Join the Green Party

American history shows us how to make change - get organized, speak up for what you truly want, and vote your hopes instead of your fears.

The Green Party is a new way forward based on four principles: nonviolence, justice, grassroots democracy and sustainability. It is free of the corporate influence that has turned the Democrats and Republicans into tools of the powerful.

It's time to support and run Green candidates at the local and state level. Show politicians that we're ready to solve the problems they aren't solving. Check out the Green Party of the US website for more information, and join the party of America's future.

Peace!

In way in '30s, Huey Long got the schools free books, building bridges, improvements in streets, and bringing whole Louisiana out of dark ages. we did not have to pay more of taxes..also, he fought against Standard Oil in Louisiana to stop exploiting their oil that might help Louisiana ecomically... he even made plently of enemies, mainly of local or nationally rich business men and even FDR and what was happened? He was shot down like a dog...

Demand Prosecutions of Politicians Too

The Charade that Congress is playing is an intentional way to divert attention away from their complicity and culpability.
'Art Imitates Life' that clip from the '80's movie 'Wall Street' alone proves We already were fully aware of the unscrupulous acts being committed in big Finanace. Yet the Politicians- Both sides continued to pass legislation granting them more & more priviledges- which had already been proven to be disasterous from the first time The Street Gang screwed this country. There was a historical precedence, so the claim they were not aware of the ramifications of deregulation was a LIE!
If Bills had not been passed through Congress then signed by various Presidents over the last 30 yrs- everything Wall Street had been doing would have be illegal and thus prosecuted. The reason we can not get justice for WS's Racketeering, embezzlement, money laundering and extortion is because Our so called 'Public Servants' gave them a Free Pass on such activities.
It sets my hair on fire everytime I see a new Committee hearing, listening to those who legalized these acts of Economic Treason question those they gave the liberties.
This Economic Treason could not have happened if it hadn't been for the aid & comfort provided by Congress and the WH for the last 30 yrs. They did not just turn a blind eye to these Domestic enemies- they provided legal Cover. The Great Depression was evidence enough to assert the fact they knew these Deregualtions were creating a Clear and present danger to our Economic solvency and they passed them anyway- Nothing less than Treason, With Forethought and Malice.

The American Renneisance

They are calling for worldwide revolution in Europe. The workers in France Catapiller plant labor negotiations actually took management hostage, ect...

The americans have a precious opportunity to rebirth the constitutional approach to the same problems of persons throughout history.

This is the underlying populism. Revolution will only hearken the arrival of Marshall law.

Obama and Congress don't care.

The Democrats will vote left only on non-budgetary items.

If it doesn't cost them anything or anger their corporate masters, they'll protect a few rivers, as long as they can keep spending trillions on bailouts and wars of aggression based on lies.

But when it comes to budgetary items, they don't care if 90% of the public is outraged. Ninety percent of us WERE outraged at the bailouts, remember? That was BEFORE the election, when candidates are supposed to care about how people will vote. Obama ignored the will of 90% of Americans and took the lead in pushing through the bailouts. He was "elected" anyway. All the anti-war, anti-bailout Democrats voted for the pro-war, pro-bailout candidate, thinking that just because he ignored them before the election, didn't mean he'd ignore them after the election when they could no longer hold him accountable.

Anyone who votes in rigged elections where it is known beforehand that no matter who wins, the war crimes and financial crimes will continue, is a fool. If the only options on your ballot are war and war, and you're idiot enough to vote, don't cry when you get war. If the only options on your ballot are bailouts and bailouts, and you're idiot enough to vote, don't cry when you get bailouts. Only if you withhold your "consent of the governed" by not voting, can you delegitimize this corporate government and establish a government of, by, and for the people.

Yes, the rich have nice smiles and perfect teeth. That's because they're rich, not because they like you.

NO ONE WILL LEAD US BY THE HAND

But we've gotten to a point where not all the exits are blocked. By contrast, the Bush administration deemed everything unpatriotic for lack of legitimate reasons. We have daily talk of labor unions, CEO's scared and returning the money, politicians paying back taxes, etc. We are at a turning point and we'd be fools to blow the opportunity. The old guard has been retired, for good reason. But the vacuum has to be filled and right now we have a golden opportunity to act in our own best interest. Politicians want votes even if they come from the people who take to the streets. That's us. ANNA

is it possible for Americans to have a conversation about ANYTHING that doesn't start a kneejerk chant of adjectives based on 'AMERICA!'?

seriously folks, this is getting really lame.

is every single aspect of the American character defined by a geographically-limited concern for your interests?

damn, kidz, you're getting as bad as Nazi Germany...

give it up, join the Rest of Humanity's billions...

...instead of, as the Liar In Chief we had formerly, Bush, was fond of reminding us, Hugo Chavez, who "...hates Amurrika," says Bush,

But Chavez doesn't hate America. He does, hate Bush. Also he doesn't have much use for Exxon Mobil, either, having thrown them out of Venezuela and nationalized their whole oil operation there. And guess what?

You want 'populist'??? Fill up your tank in Venezuela, FOR A NICKEL A GALLON!!! (Lately it's gone up to 7 cents. It goes back and forth.)

He wants to talk to Obama and I hope Obama talks to Chavez--just as a black person, never mind as President. To say "Thank you"...

Because Chavez, during the height of our own personal 'oil embargo' when we couldn't afford gas for love or money--Chavez, furnished heating oil, either free or heavily discounted, so people in the ghettos wouldn't starve and freeze in the dark.

SOME "Amurrika-hater". I hope Obama talks to him...
