"What is abundantly clear is that no matter how hard the government tries to advance the military commissions, this process doesn't work...The only solution is to shut the military commissions down and start from scratch."
- Anthony D. Romero, Executive Director of the American Civil Liberties Union

Closing Guantanamo Bay will be a crucial first step toward restoring our moral leadership in the world, but President-elect Obama must also end the unconstitutional military commissions put in place by President Bush.  These so-called "legal proceedings" are more akin to kangaroo courts for the unlawful ways in which they extract confessions from abused prisoners forced to stand trial.

As former Gitmo prosecutor Lt Col Darrel Vandeveld told the BBC recently, "No justice will be obtained at Guantanamo. And if that entails moving [the detainees] temporarily to the US for trial: so be it."  Watch the tesimonies from those who have prosecuted and defended some of these prisoners, and see why we cannot continue to deprive them of their fundamental rights.

Send this video to all of your friends and coworkers in order to stress the importance of ending unconstitutional military commissions.  If there are prisoners that still must stand trial, they should do so in U.S. civilian and military courts that abide by international human rights and humanitarian law.  That is the only way to achieve real justice; the only way to break with the abusive past of the Bush administration; and the only way to show to the world that the Obama administration will faithfully follow the U.S. Constitution.

WHy does Robert Greewald have any more clout of credibility to denouce the MCA? That is than anyone of us that have been saying it for for years?

The whole congress knows the points about every last thing that Bush has done that needs to be undone. Gitmo is only one. Yet complicentcy to the Bush doctrines is stopping ripping out the installed head of this pirate regime. The only reason I can figure it isn't really being pursued is that Congress is largely guilty too.

Bush is in contempt of his oath to office anyway you look at it.
HE's the one alone with Cheney and Turd Blossum, Wolfowitz and Rummy (the list is longer) that should be put in Gitmo without any Habeaus Corpus , and waterboarded.

OUr Nation is either in a submersed mental state of cronic denial or the representatives of the people really don't care about justice at all. Without accountability in the government this country can not be trusted for shit.
IT IS AS SIMPLE AS THAT.

There can not be a re-uniting of the "parties and an end to bipartisenship unless these people are made accountable for their crimes. Especially as leaders of a nation.

Unless Obama realizes and impliments a plan to have these criminals pay for their wrong doing even Obama can not be trusted. IT will mean that there truely is a conspiracy whether intensionally or by default that is the rip-tide that will tear the very fabric of democracy apart and only a shadow of such an ideal exists as a romanitc notion.

For all the wasted $ in the trillions that have been thrown down the shit whole this nation could provide every single person a home and premium health care at the very least. That alone would cantapult the economy back in shape. But because of the poorest excuse of leadership this country has ever known the nation is in ruins. Only the skeleton of a civilization exist at this point.

Just remember Obama has said too, " It's going to get a whole lot worse before it gets better". We haven't even started to the basement floor yet.

Every single person should send at least one email or letter out a week to PUSH for Impeachment. Then you will realize how worthless our power over the government really is....nil!

If ever there was a reason for the likes of Kenneth Starr to prosicute for impeachment this is a time so much more realistic and viable that that wasted on the Clinton action, which was a consipacy to get Bush in Office.

Obama should without a doubt reopen an investigation into 911. After all why would it be a problem, to get the truthout ?

PUSH TO IMPEACH
