The "End of America," a compelling new documentary by award-winning filmmakers Annie Sundberg and Ricki Stern in collaboration with best-selling author Naomi Wolf received some love today in the New York Times:

The pointedly inflammatory film, adapted from Naomi Wolf's book "The End of America: A Letter of Warning to a Young Patriot," compares the Bush administration's attempts to discourage dissent and to wield increasingly unchecked power to the events preceding the establishment of 20th-century dictatorships in Germany, Italy, Chile and elsewhere. Without explicitly invoking the word, it implies that since 2001 the United States has drifted toward fascism in the name of fighting terror.
Tightly constructed and fiercely one-sided, "The End of America," directed by Annie Sundberg and Ricki Stern ("The Devil Came on Horseback"), interweaves excerpts from a lecture in New York given by Ms. Wolf with film clips and interviews illustrating her contention that the rise of those dictatorships created a "blueprint" that the Bush administration, consciously or not, has followed.

The United States is worth fighting for. Do not give up. We are still here to seed the passion, but we need the young to lead this one. And call me, a tired, old 60's reformer, when the Revolution starts. I can get back up for one more march to maintain this ennobling idea - democracy.

Watch it!

I've read Naomi Wolf's book and have heard her speak. I would highly recommend anyone who cares about the direction America is going, to watch this movie. At the very least, read her book. Along with the "other" famous Naomi, (Naomi Klein, author of the Shock Doctrine, the Rise of Disaster Capitalism), you will have a VERY GOOD background as to where this country is going. However, IF we keep fighting, America might be saved!

One sided? It's about our country's move towards fascism. It's either happening or it's not. My opinion is that it is not "one-sided" if it's the truth!

While we're trying to save this country, we might as well study John Perkins and his two latest books! (Confessions of an Economic Hit Man and Secrets of the American Empire). I mention this because as we learn our history, we can be better informed. This will help us in our fight--the fight that Ron Paul and other patriots have been discussing for so long.

As for whether or not Barack Obama can lead us where we need to go, after his cabinet picks, I'm not too confident. I'll try to remain hopeful, nonetheless.

any more. Bush, in his ill advised rush to war and his administration's suspension of basic human rights, along with the religious right (Dobson, Robertson, et al) started an irreversible trend.
If Obama stays the course, on basic rights of free speech, the right to associate and assemble, and he does not reverse this trend, world demand and economies will react accordingly.
People fearing each other or for their basic human rights, do not shop, they do not invest, they do not go on road trips, take vacations, spend lavishly or try new things.
Schools put our children in uniforms (so they can recognize outsiders or terrorists) and tighten dress codes.
Accross our nation our schools are not encouraging individuality or creativity. They are teaching our children how to be thought droans (through rote learning and teaching to pass tests) Art and music classes are being cut from every cirruculum.
Fear is not good for our economy. Consumers in fear for their lives and our democracy, hunker down in their individual bunkers and tighten their collective purse strings.
When in doubt, as we are witnessing world wide, people (consumers) stand still.
If Obama wants to jump start the US economy, he needs to start by restoring the US Constitution.
He must close Guantanamo, restore Habeas Corpus, Posse Comitatus, the right to assemble and the right to free speech and Separation of Church and State.
He must re-affirm US compliance with the Geneva conventions.
As noted in the Preamble, our Constitution promoted the general welfare (in my opinion, this includes single payer universal health care) through justice (a single rule of law) for all.
It must be made clear; no one has ever had the authroity to take the rule of law (this includes Bush, Cheney, Reid and Pelosi) off the table. Obama must re-affirm we remain united through a system of Federal Laws which supersede state laws.
Otherwise, the world economies will contract further and no matter how world leaders try to tinker with bail outs, world demand (for everything imagineable) will continue to spiral downward.
Freedom,Creativity, Diversity and Democracy is good for the economy!
Thank you Naomi, you are on the right track!
