Biden on Ellen: Prop 8 Unfair, Would Vote Against It, Discusses Obama, Economy

Posted by Lisa Derrick, Firedoglake at 2:52 PM on October 21, 2008.

While visiting Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show Biden called California's same sex marriage ban Proposition 8 "regressive" and "unfair."

While visiting Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show Monday, VP candidate Joe Biden called  California's same sex marriage ban Proposition 8 "regressive" and "unfair" and added that he and running mate Barack Obama opposed a similar initiative nationally.Biden said that if he lived in California he would be voting No on 8.

The candidate also discussed the Democratic economic plans and made some good jokes about Joe the plumber before landing Julia Louis Dreyfus in a dunk tank as part of Ellen's fund raiser for breast cancer research. Part one of the Biden interview can be seen here.

Then Monday night on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Ellen spoke out against Proposition 8:

I don't know how Portia and I sitting home watching  Dancing with the Stars is hurting anyone...Vote No on 8, everybody, no on 8!

 In her blog, Ellen wrote:

Hey everybody. There’re only a couple weeks left before we vote. In California there’s a proposition that’s trying to take away my right to be married. And if it passes, my marriage will probably no longer be valid.

The supporters of Proposition 8 have raised more than $25 million just to discriminate against same-sex couples who want to get married. That’s a lot of money.

I can think of 25 million other uses for all that money:

- How about paying teachers more?
- What about helping those people who just lost their homes in the recent fires?
- How about buying a pony for every child in California? How much fun would that be?!

Don’t let them convince you that discrimination is okay just because they can pay for a commercial. It’s wrong. Please vote NO ON PROPOSITION 8! I’m begging you. If you vote no on Prop 8, I’ll buy you a pony.

Last week Ellen gave $100,000 to No on 8 buy airtime for her commercial urging voters to vote no on the ballot measure.

Digg!

Now, Witches Are Plotting Against McCain

From Flo Ellers. Excerpt. (Emphasis supplied in bold and underlines.)

Two days ago, I listened to a 9-6-08 message by Bree Keyton, a young woman evangelist who had just traveled to Kenya and visited Obama's home village and what she found out about his relations with his tribal people was chilling. And his "cousin" Odinga was dreadful. She said the witches, warlocks and those involved in satanism and the occult get up daily at 3 a.m. to release curses against McCain and Palin so B. Hussein Obama is elected.

If they are looking for a witch to fit their description... I am not involved with Satanism or the occult, but... I found this on Andrew Sullivan's blog so I wrote him a note. Here it is:

Andrew,

You did know I wake up at 3 am to watch morning Joe on TV, I am a witch and I do comment negatively about McCain and Palin regularly on AlterNet. Right? I fit their description, they know about me. Gay marriage, the whole nine yards, I'm ending their stupid drug war.

the ballot here in Florida, too. Probably appeases the religious nuts and hatemongers around here, but I think it is a waste of my money. What goes on in someone else's bedroom is no business of mine or anyone else's IMHO.

Just vote "NO" on this BS.
