David Kurtz at TPM writes, "John McCain made the morning show rounds today. On Fox they were virtually begging him to 'suspend' his campaign again in the wake of the bailout failure yesterday on the Hill. You know, since it worked out so well the first time. McCain's answer: He just might suspend again."

McCain's comments follow a blog post by William Kristol yesterday arguing, "if this is really 'a national economic crisis,' and others have failed to lead, then McCain should lead--by re-suspending his campaign (fine, let observers mock him when he announces this), and leading his party and the Congress towards a solution. They won't mock if he can pull this off."

Is end state capitalism enough to do this or will we see some kind of non-conventional nuclear strike on US soil to seal the deal.

I pray that I didn't hear him right, but I watched this clip twice. I could have sworn that Mr. McCain said that the House was out for a religious holiday???? OUT?

And what religious holiday? I pastor a church in the Midwest, and I'm not aware of today being something special. Even if today is a holiday, God did not ordain his followers to adhere to any man-made holiday schedule. They work for us, and we need to tell them to "Get Back To Work!"

Our country is in "crisis mode", and they leave? In my experience, if I worked on a project that required additional time to complete, I worked the hours necessary to see it through to completion(without delay). If I didn't, I was fired.

Why do we put up with this?

FOLKS WELCOME JOHN "STUNTMAN" MCCAIN TO THE POLITICAL STAGE PLEASE! When the shit hits the fan do you really want this guy for president? McCain reminds me when W. was in office the first few months of the presidency in 2000 where W. took a vacation to get away from D.C. for a while. Let's be honest, W. could not take the pressure of Washington and it seems we will get more of the same if McCain is our president.

I know this clip if funny/scary for all of the reasons previously posted but hooray for FOX for pushing for a straight answer. They may have been pushing for the answer they wanted to hear but it was better than the typical roll over and scratch maneuver.
