Wow... According to the UK Guardian, a fictional retrospective film chronicling the 2007 assassination of President Bush will air on UK television this fall.

The 90-minute, documentary-style film -- appropriately titled "Death of a President" -- will be broadcast on digital channel More4 in October:

The drama takes the form of a fictional documentary looking back at the assassination of Mr Bush in October 2007, after he has delivered a speech to business leaders in Chicago.

When Mr Bush arrives in the city he is confronted by a massive demonstration against the Iraq war and is gunned down by a sniper as he leaves the venue. The hunt for Mr Bush's killer focuses on a Syrian-born man, Jamal Abu Zikri.

Death of a President will use a combination of archive footage, CGI special effects and scripted scenes.

The film was produced by BBC2 producers Gabriel Range, Simon Finch and Ed Guiney.

Egads! That's some incendiary stuff, there. It's about time. I just wish it was running in the US... I am simply dying (pun intended) to see this film. Any British readers want to tape it for me?

Digg!

Ms. Barcella:

I read with a sense of wonder your apparent endorsement of assassinating the President of the United States.

"Egads! That's some incendiary stuff, there. It's about time. I just wish it was running in the US... I am simply dying (pun intended) to see this film"

Knowing this comment will most likely be purged from this silly forum I am going to make it brief.

People like you are extremely close to righfully being called enemies of the state or traitors [full legal implication], take your pick.

As such you might want to weigh the degree to which those who actually hold power in this society - as opposed to simple poseurs such as yourself whose rage has clouded their ability to intellectually function - should consider you indistinguishable from the Islamist enemy and act accordingly.

Prohibitions against regicide go a long way back in the Western tradition, all the way - for your information - to English common law, where the penalty is death.

You might want to ponder how holding such extreme beliefs conflicts with your avowed "progressivism," contemplate what you have become and what a sham people who maintain your ideology are.

rgds,

Villem

If citizens could have confidence in their government to prosecute Mr. Bush et al for War Crimes, crimes against our constitution and Crimes against humanity, we would not be reading about some fantasy movie on presidental assassination.

Bush plans assassinations on world leaders. That's okay.

Britain makes a movie about Bush being assassinated. That's terrorism.

You've got to admire the chutzpah of their hypocrisy.

Speaking of treason did people see the video of that guy accusing Lockheed Martin of KNOWINGLY equiping Coat Guard Ships with defective gear .

I was most disturbed over the reaction of my Congressman Peter King who basically dismissed his allegations . I will hopefully be instrumental in removing Mr King from office .
It is a shame because at one time I admired him . He refused to vote for Impeachment . Unfortunately since that time he has become far too subservient to the Administration

Regarding the movie: "Death of the President," Bush is just a figurehead.

The Presidency is run by Cheney, Rove and Rumsfeld.

I'm certainly not advocating that someone kill Cheney, Rove
or Rumsfeld, but how would history judge them if they did?
Would they be considered hero's to human civilization?

In 1963 or so Malcolm X commented on the death of JFK as a case of "chickens coming home to roost" meaning that it was no mystery to him that an imperial power totally wedded to force and so oblivious to the welfare of not only the people of other nations but even its own would have violence directed back against it. Or as Postman Neuman said on Seinfeld, "there's such a thing as karma, Kramer." And as both Dumbya and Yogi Berra would probably say "this reminds me of that, only more so."

Villem;

How endearing, problem is, many of those who were caught under the above "quaint" English common law, were always ordinary common folk, NEVER the high and mighty Royalty or Bankers et al.

But what amuses me greatly, is the IMPLICATION that somehow this "quaint" law you refer to, and it's ancestral Homeland of Britain, could somehow even be valid in these incidents of today ?

And if they are, then many American/Israeli/French/British Govt and Non Govt Officials should all be behind bars for such events enacted in my lifetime that I'm aware of.

So please, spare me the HYPOCRISY, it's enough dealing with the bullshit emanating from the Whitehouse on a daily basis, then add your two bob's worth to the pile.

A Terrible Idea

I find the idea of a Bush assassination so extremely offensive on so many levels that it is hard to begin a comment. I despise George W. Bush as a human being, a governor, a president, and as a Texan as much as anyone in this world; but I would never want him intentionally harmed. As an educated adult, I recognize when a major faux pas about to be committed from the history of mankind. As a Christian, it is definitely not my place to act as an avenging God. As an American, I choose to abide by the 'majority rule' when electing a president in our "democracy".

But my primary reason for wanting a different solution is that America does not need to martyr of this clown. He is on the way out and to martyr him at this point would be so devisive and destructive that Americans may never live through the aftermath. This incompetant boob and his administration must be brought down and exposed as to what they really are is essential to 'winning back' our country. Martyrdom would make him a role model and a pillar of society for future generations of our children to emulate, and that would be disasterous!

America made a terrible mistake by supporting Bush and Company, so it is our mistake to correct the situation using the same system that we used to put him where he is... our democratic system.

Look! Why leave it up to the British all the time?

You blame us (The Brits) for holding you Americans back for Centuries. A mix of arcane religion and antediluvian politics repressing your natural development into something finer and grander than the rest of the 'enslaved world'.
But then when your Great 'War President' sells his Texan ten-gallon soul, goes all rogue and allows a 4th World War to start, say what, it's down to the British to give you the impetus to do something about it. Even Hollywood ain't got the nuts.

Lookie here rookies!
During the Nixon period of Presidency a one world renowned actor/comedian Groucho Marx having taken an LSD tab ( but only once, sic! ) was confirmed by defunct magazine [FLASH] as having said, during the trip:
"I think the only hope this country has is Nixon's assassination".
Following the indictment of the The Black Panther activist David Hilliard, Groucho Marx got called up infront of the Department of Justice and eventually a letter was sent to his concerned tripping pardner Paul Kressner that read:

"Dear Mr. Krassner:
Responding to your inquiry, the United States Supreme Court has held that Title 18 U.S.C., (Section 87) prohibits only "true" threats. It is one thing to say "I" (or we) will kill Richard Nixon when you are the leader of an organization which advocates killing people and overthrowing the government; it is quite another to utter the words which are attributed to Mr. Marx, an alleged comedian. It was the opinion of both myself and the United States Attorney in Los Angeles (where Marx's words were alleged to have been uttered) that the latter utterance did not constitute a "true" threat.
Very truly yours,
James L. Browning Jr. United States Attorney".

So, when you're dragged away from infront of the Capitol building with your water pistol & 'US out of USA' placard in hand it's possibly worth claiming you were doing a stand-up routine using material plagiarized from Groucho Marx.

But seriously, please, cannot one of you 80,000,000 gun-owning Americans not do something about it yourselves?
I mean what do you want next? Britain to suggest re-integration of the United States of America into the Commonwealth as A COLONY ?

"It gets my vote."™ ©Homer Simpson.

What has happened to Alternet?
Posted by: Bluesboy48 on Sep 2, 2006 11:55 PM
Current rating: Not yet rated    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
I've been reading Alternet for a while now. I use Alternet along with many other internet resources to find news and opinion I might find in my daily reading of other more mainsteam publications.

"Egads! That's some incendiary stuff, there. It's about time. I just wish it was running in the US... I am simply dying (pun intended) to see this film. Any British readers want to tape it for me?"

I've been a writer for film, newspapers--even advertising to make my way through this world for a long time. As I believe the writer was well aware of exactly what she was saying when she wrote the passage above in bold, I find her attempt to claim she didn't make herself clear as dispicable as the the article she was writing about. The writer stepped to the very edge of where she could go without getting into real trouble.

Presidential assassination is no joking matter, no matter how unpopular the President is. The President of the United States is not just a man, but a symbol of how our nation works. When we have a Presidental election, more than anything we show the world how a powerful country can transfer power without violence and chaos.

Sometimes, like the instance of the bad count in Florida, the system stumbles, but due to the wisdom of Al Gore's decison to stop fighting the result, this country once again passed the power from one party to the other without tanks rolling in our streets.

All I can say to the writer is this if you can't make yourself perfectly clear in a 750 word column, you might want to think of another line of work.

I've been worried about Alternet for a while. I read whacko stories about how 9-11 was really set up by our leadership and that the Pentagon was hit by a missile instead of a hijacked plane. Also, I'm seeing more and more intolerance for Jews. What's next? Will you deny the holocast happened or have I already missed that one.

Don't get me wrong. I'm against this war in Iraq and find the President and his administration the most imcompetent mess to ever grace the city of Washington D.C. But when so-called progressive writers start clapping their hands over the production of a film detailing the assassination of any American President--it make me sick inside.

Perphaps you might spend a little less time chasing foolish conspiracies, pondering how to get rid of Bush and see if you can take some real action to get the vote out and maybe next time we be able to elect someone you don't want killed.

In closing, I would also like to tell all you folks who voted for Nader to remember you are the very people who put George Bush in the White House in the first place and I'm betting there's a bunch of Nader folks here. Nader's ego big dance in the spotlight did nothing but send this country to live under the thumb of neocon rule for eight years. So look down--that's blood on your hand. Thanks a lot. It's been great having you so-called progressive thinkers out there fighting the good fight for us real liberals who fought from Selma, Alabama to the rice paddies of Vietnam, just so your generation might have a better world than we did. Shame on you. You squander our efforts as if they were nothing.

By the way, if you get tired of protesting the war, there's a bunch of our sons and daughters over there in Iraq who could use letters, food packages, books, DVD's and kind words from Americans who claim they support the troops, even if they oppose the war.

CONSPIRACY! EXPECT NEW 911 LEVEL EVENT.

Some people seem to wonder what is going on in reality.

Here's a taste:

'BLOOD BORDERS' - Armed Forces Journal -June 2006.

View inside the military Junta's mindset and read how "Oh, and one other dirty little secret from 5,000 years of history: Ethnic cleansing works."
The article describes how the US Military would do well to employ it as a solution to the redrawing of borders.

Lucky Larry Silverstein wins multi Billion insurance claim on WTC.

Larry Silverstein made a cosy $3.3 Billion dollars clear profit that day of 9/11. He only had to invest $200M to get his $3.3 Bn insurance payout. He actually applied for a $7.1Bn dollar payout, but fell slightly short of that.

In UK right now they are witnessing a series of arrests of alleged terror conspirators. People are being hauled out of restaurants and private homes. Forensic and anti-terror officers who claim they may have to be there for weeks have occupied a secondary school; looking for something that could only have been left there by a rebel Muslim Cleric years and years ago, when he held a class or two in the school.
This adds to the effect of the 'playing of fear' within an image of the terror-state model. It is designed partly to play psychologically with the populous, who are of course, deemed by Military Intelligence as being too stupid to understand how they are being manipulated.
Blanket reporting restrictions to 'protect' the detained from miss-trial by media are preventing even the slightest detail of the alleged plots to be released to the public.

These events are probably so-called 'dry runs'. There will soon be a new 9/11 or 7/7, or Barcelona level event. This coming attack, whether it be in the UK or the USA will be a staged event.
This pandemic of arrests will serve as a mechanism for the Rogue Military elements at play here, to be able to claim:
"We did everything we could to stop the big one getting through." Then a massive push towards a totalitarian state can be further promoted.
All this can be discounted as wild speculation and self-fulfilling prophecy as some further terrorist attack is presumably & inevitably going to reach its inevitable conclusion one sad-day.
The one reason I would give to qualify that this is more than speculation is that the predictions have been made that this major attack will occur, following a run of raids on 4 or 5 'sleeper-cells' or lesser credible groupings of previously unheard of "home-grown 'terror-networks'".

This Major Level attack has been predicted for October this year. We shall have to wait and see shall we not! Or will we change the nature of how we use the communications and media world to reduce the likelihood of rogue, extremist elements wherever they are, in successfully executing & profiting by these crimes against humanity?

Dear God! I'm a UK citizen, anti Bush, anti Blair, anti globalisation, hippy dippy, left wing, conspiracy theorising pinko - just to get that out of the way.

Now - all of you disgusted, shocked and horrified individuals and your angry comments have disgusted and shocked me.

IT'S A FILM. IT'S FICTION.

It's been scientifcally proven that consuming various media forms - computer games, movies, books etc does NOT make an individual go out there and do bad things.

The topic interests people, as do films about serial killers, as do books about penguins. Get a grip.

If you honestly think this film is anything more insidious than just a film, you need to assess your medication. It's almost comparable to those withe mental health disorders experiencing totally convincing delusions that weather men and the television controls the weather.

Those of you who are offended by THE IDEA of a film depicting a FICTICIOUS assassination attempt on the President - don't watch it. Simple as that. And calm down for christ's sake! You're stressing me out with your imaginary threats!
