You may have seen this simplified explanation of President Bush's plan to contain healthcare costs -- it's been flying around them internets (hat tip to my mom):

WOMAN IN AUDIENCE: 'I don't really understand. How is the new plan going to fix the problem?'

PRESIDENT BUSH:
'Because the -- all which is on the table begins to address the big cost drivers. For example, how benefits are calculated, for example, is on the table. Whether or not benefits rise based upon wage increases or price increases. There's a series of parts of the formula that are being considered. And when you couple that, those different cost drivers, affecting those -- changing those with personal accounts, the idea is to get what has been promised more likely to be -- or closer delivered to that has been promised. Does that make any sense to you? It's kind of muddled. Look, there's a series of things that cause the -- like, for example, benefits are calculated based upon the increase of wages, as opposed to the increase of prices. Some have suggested that we calculate -- the benefits will rise based upon inflation, supposed [as opposed?] to wage increases. There is a reform that would help solve the red if that were put into effect. In other words, how fast benefits grow, how fast the promised benefits grow, if those -- if that growth is affected, it will help on the red.'

Digg!

Were these whatshisname's actual words????? If so, I'm afraid I'm even more astonished regarding his ineptitude than before.

To any aliens from other planets reading this; Please beam me up, now!
I'm serious; just tell me where to go. I'll simply take the clothes I'm wearing!

P.S. Will also consider Canada, Spain, Belgium or Holland.

I can't stand listening or reading him any more --not that it was ever easy. But it just boggles the mind.

I chased the quote down to a Feb 4, 2004 talk, the White House transcription of which is at http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases

This particular example of his garble is way down in the Q&A section.

Let me interpret it.
Any legislation regarding health care will be to benefit the insurance industry which was hurt when we passed the prescription drug plan to benefit the pharmaceutical industry. Fair is fair.

If Bush's supporters have read this and still support him it proves they're dumber than he is, if that's possible. And this guy is the leader of the free world? Have any of his advisors told him most people across the planet consider him the world's number one terrorist and threat to world peace? God can't help us as, according to Bush, God is on his side.

See, the turrists attacked us on 9/11. Some of my opponents across the aisle dun understand we're under threat. Every day I'm fightin' to protect Amerkan lives from evil-doers. Evil. They're bad people. And after the enemy bought the war to our shores on September 11, there was no limit to what the turrists would do. Huh Laura? You wanted the butter? September 11 changed everything. Wash, rinse, repeat. Isn't it amazing that if you listened to the Chimp enough, the potency of September 11 might actually be diminished because the more he cheapens it with his false links to the War on Turr, the more the memory is distorted in our minds.
