Stewart nails it of course

But the main issue is not the affair itself - if he wasn't such a fuckin hypocrite, I could care less about that. If he hadn't called on Clinton to resign and voted to impeach that is.

The important thing is that he felt that it was appropriate to let the state subsidize the affair and like a bank robber who decides to return the cash after he's caught, he thinks that returning part of the money is appropriate - but refuses to release the records to document his theft.

"Sure I'm an embezzler folks. I stole less than three grand - and no, you can't look at the books."

Oh yeah, and then there is the dereliction of duty part. Had there been an emergency, no one else in the state had the authority to declare it!

If the good citizens of his state don't do everything possible to toss the asshole out on his ear - and maybe into a jail cell - they deserve him.

Oh, how to be a wife in this situation? No, Sanford doesn't want to hurt his wife; he's still romancing his mistress every time he opens his mouth for piss sake!

Stewartizing

Nothing like reducing the sauce to make it tastier.

Sanford's ongoing confessional whining and assumption of his right to forgiveness simply decries the naive arrogance that goes with having your head full of faux power and aloofness. That alone should be enough to strip him of his governorship.

HE CAN'T RESIST THE ATTENTION

Everyone acts as though 'he' alone came up with the idea of screwing around. First the tears, the insincere humility, news conferences fit for a bad soap opera, rumors of resignation, the wife chimes in, the God thing. Then I think they just get exhausted and burned out. And so do we. So Stewart got it right. Just STFU, Mark. Thanks, ANNA

THE REPUBLICAN MORALITY LAPSES

The preoccupation with the 2012 election is taking a toll on them. We can't blow four years on a President trying to keep his job and the opposition determine to win it back. Four years is a long time. We do not pay you to bide your time in office while you plan your next run. There are soldiers getting killed in two wars, people losing jobs and homes, disastrous unemployment, etc. So yes, STFU and get some work done. Too many elected officials are like a bunch of unruly kids in a classroom (about the 3rd grade). Thanks, ANNA
