The story from CODEPINK:

DENVER - Before arresting a member of the women's peace group, CODEPINK, police officers here shoved the woman to the ground with a raised baton, left her on the ground in pain for several minutes, and when she began answering questions to reporters nearby, an officers pulled her roughly away by the elbows to arrest her, according to eyewitness accounts at a press conference held outside the jail.
Alicia Forrest, 24, of Los Angeles, was arrested on charges of interference near 12 p.m. today, moments before the beginning of a demonstrator's march here during the Democratic National Convention. The Rocky Mountain News has released video documenting the events here (http://www.rockymountainnews.com/videos/detail/police-use-force/).
Forrest had allegedly witnessed the arrest of an unidentified man in the street near the Denver Civic Center Park when she and others nearby asked police why the man was being arrested. After she was pushed to the ground, according to an eyewitness account at activist group's Reacreate 68's press conference, police then arrested Forrest.
She was transported her to the warehouse processing center in Denver, according to city officials. By 2:30 p.m., she had been transferred to the Denver City Jail where bond was posted for $580 bail. She is awaiting release.

Examples of why we need a general revolt

This recording of fascist police brutality and the other one in the video section today show why the Democrats are really no better than the Rethuglicans when it comes to respecting the right to protest. It's time to quit thinking that we can achieve real change by working within the Democratic Party. I have come to the inescapable conclusion that the party establishment have to lose all power and credibility to open the way for the real left to take-over the party. In other words, they need to screw up the campaign again and let McSame steal another one, hopefully so obviously that this time just about everyone who is not a hopeless party hack realizes how corrupt and rotten the system is and will rise up and finally allow for real progressive change. The only way people like PDA will ever really take over is for Pelosi and company to lose.

So, vote for Cynthia McKinney for President, and those in SF vote for Cindy Sheehan to oust Pelosi.

It's hard to tell. Does he shout "Back it up, Bitch!" before or after he assaults her? I think it's in mid-sentence. It's hard for a girl to obey an officer if he doesn't let you hear his entire shriek before he cold-cocks you in the throat. And is he the same one who comes and grabs her later? Was she arrested for getting back up? Or for littering her batteries? I'm unfamiliar with these new preemptive strike customs.

No representative democracy; an outdated electoral system that gives more weight to some votes than others; an electoral system so corrupt that only money dictates who gets to be an "elected" representative;

what a sham!

A prseident that has broken too many laws, yet no demonstrations, no agitation, and no impeachment.

What a joke!

Corruption is so rampant in the US government that the government has gone bankrupt in diverting public funds to the military-industrial complex, yet Americans are too busy glued to tv watching garbage.

No jobs, no health-care, no retirement benefits, and no democracy, yet no end to American ignorance and arrogance.

That is why protesters are made to suffer.

The political parties do not want the American public to see 10's of thousands of people, a literal sea of people as far as the camera can see, swarmed around the convention centers where they are nominating their candidates.

To do so would show the massive opposition to the two main parties.

P.S. Cops also tend to be power abusing assholes. Think of all the people you know from high school who became cops.

Were they assholes in high school?

Eric Schwartz

Cops shoot Peaceful Protesting LAWYER in the back... then GIGGLE about it...

Who Da Bitch Now?
Well, you found you a coon
Tied him to a truck
He was looking at your girl
Yeah, he was looking for a "ride"
But you showed that bitch, dintcha?
Now tell your story while the others pinch ya
'cause now you’re bunkmates with Bubba
Who won’t use no rubba
For the maximum sentence the Law would allow
So tell me boys...
Who Da Bitch Now?

Well, you found you a queer
You promised him some head
Drove him out, tied him up, beat him down n'left him for dead
"That’s what you get, bitch!"
Well that’s what you said
You didn’t see it was wrong, no you were only seeing red...
But now you’ll see pinstripes
Bunched around your ankles every night
You’ll get used to it much quicker
If you give up the fight and just allow...
And Who Da Bitch Now?

The irony is plain to see
If you know the definition
You try to be B.M.O.C.
And end up in this position...

You found you a Haitian
Brought him down to the station
You boinked him with a broomstick
As a standard operation
You thought you’d hide your violence
Behind that big blue wall of silence
But now you’re roomin’
With some of the bitches you’ve been broomin’
I applaud the situation, but I wouldn’t take a bow
Just tell me, officer, Who Da Bitch Now?

("Self-Bootleg" Bonus Verse)
Well this morning's communion went off without a hitch
So you said a benediction and made the alter boy your bitch
The most accursed criminal to hide behind a hymnal
But they hung you like a jury with a tube sock for a rope
The paparazzi waited
For a comment from the Pope who just said 'ciao'
And "who da beetch now!

This sort of thing happens every Friday and Saturday night in the club area when the bars close, although usually to people of color other than pink. Actually, I'm pleasantly surprised things have gone as peacefully has they have -- expected deaths by now. But of course as long as protesters are "peacefully assembled" in pens, the odds of extreme violence are somewhat reduced.

These people should not be protesting but consuming, maxing out their cred and paying interest. What the hell country do they think they live in, the right to assembly of ne'er do wells with strange ideas is not American. Certainly no ideas that are against corporate policy. Nor especially groupings of dysfunctional consumers with idea's and philosophies that affect the bottom line. Now do what you want but make sure it is not with more than two people, that will require note taking by observing informants. What happened to VAWA this is blatantly self evident, where are you femmes. I suppose your corporate owners direct you simply to continue a little social engineering project, this episode does not warrant your attention.

... the 1968 Democratic convention in Chicago. From this report, other video's I've seen posted or were sent, and reporting I have read, the Denver police are acting every bit as brutish and fascist as their bretheren did 30 years ago.

I hope the US Attorney in Denver is watching the videos because, even to a non-lawyer, it is evident that the police are commiting flagerant violations of various aspects of Civil Rights laws. Moreover, I hope the city of Denver has deep pockets because they'll be paying out millions in lawsuit settlements, thanks to the Pigs In Blue prowling the streets of what I used to think of as one of the nicest cities in the US.

The Brutality of McBama/O'Cain

Anyone who doubts what we socialists have been saying -- that no matter who wins in November, the working class will lose -- need only look at this video to see absolute proof the Democrats are ultimately no different from the Republicans: whichever party dominates, the ruling class will continue to push the United States headlong into a New Dark Age of serfdom, fascism and theocracy.

Rousing as the Democrat speeches may be, never forget the entire convention is a Big Lie, choreographed in accordance with the principles established at least 80 years ago by Josef Goebbels for Adolf Hitler. Among these principles is the brutal suppression of dissent: the Denver cops are merely following the orders given them by the Democrat leadership. The attack on the Code Pinker is thus obviously the newest escalation in the attack not just on the Constitution but on every working-class woman, child and man in the nation.

Ultimately what we are witnessing is economics at its most basic -- the economics of capitalism in a world afflicted by impending doom: simultaneous terminal climate change and exhaustion of the technocultural resource base, with the ruling class determined to maintain its omnipotence -- and its posh and privileged lifestyle -- regardless of the cost. That sickening ruptured-tomato sound of the police truncheon bashing the Code Pinker's flesh is the prelude of the future.

Cop Violence

Someone asked somewhere -- can't recall where -- whether we remember the jerks in h.s. who became cops (because they were too stupid to do anything else). These armed thugs with the IQ's of drift wood get away with murder; as guards in prisons they rape female inmates; they murder innocent old women and call it a drug bust. But to me, the most frightening thing is that they sound so . . . well, militaristic. The same monotone, the same vacuous, empty eyes you see in people who enjoy war -- that's what you see when cops can get their jones addressed with random violence.

You all know it's not going to get any better unless we as a people -- young, older, old, all colors -- band together and start kicking some ass in court. We need to pound their municipalities' court systems with civil rights and harassment cases; we need to stand up and defend each other when some idiot cop decides she or he is going to kick some "lefty's" ass.

We don't stick together and fight them as a front, nothing will change. Period. Talk all you want. No thugs in power ever give up that power without a fight. We outnumber these bastards, so we should organize and hit the streets in the thousands -- not in little groups in scattered cities throughout the country -- but coordinated legal suits in chosen cities where we'll wear them out and empty their coffers.

We can do it if we'll start pooling our resources (money, time, etc.). Otherwise, we can just keep raving about how awful America has become (and it surely has). Same old sh*t, different day. . .

Then lay off half the police force. They deserve it. I saw videos of cops with NO IDENTIFICATION. No badges, no nametags. This is completely illegal. Unfortunately, the only thing many people respond to is money. I hope the city loses everything it gained from the DNC to paying out for lawsuits. They went too far.
