Looney Oklahoma Legislator: Gays to Blame for Econopocalypse ... 'Bigger Threat than Islam'

Last year, Oklahoma state legislator Sally Kern (R) drew well-deserved criticism for an outlandish rant against the gay community, in which she compared homosexuality to “toe cancer” and said “it’s the biggest threat our nation has, even more so than terrorism or Islam.” “Studies show that no society that has totally embraced homosexuality has lasted more than, you know, a few decades. So it’s the death knell of this country,” said Kern. Listen here:

Though activists responded to her comments with protests, Oklahoma conservatives rallied around her, saying that they “stand with and support Sally.” Now, Kern is back, once again sparking controversy for her attacks on the LGBT community.

Kern is now pushing a “Oklahoma Citizen’s Proclamation for Morality” that blames America’s “economic woes” on “abortion, pornography, same sex marriage, sex trafficking, divorce, illegitimate births, child abuse ,and many other forms of debauchery”:

WHEREAS, we believe our economic woes are consequences of our greater national moral crisis; and

WHEREAS, this nation has become a world leader in promoting abortion, pornography, same sex marriage, sex trafficking, divorce, illegitimate births, child abuse, and many other forms of debauchery;

Though Kern denies that her proclamation is timed to coincide with gay pride celebrations across the country, critics say otherwise. Kern’s proclamation specifically criticizes President Obama for recognizing June as LGBT Pride Month. “Whereas, deeply disturbed that the Office of the president of these United States disregards the biblical admonitions to live clean and pure lives by proclaiming an entire month to an immoral behavior,” reads the proclamation.

Watch an Oklahoma News 9 report on Kern’s proclamation:

Sally Kern (R) was caught in a sting soliciting sex in a lesbian bar outside Fort Sill, OK. When perp walked into the hoosgow, Fox News anchor Nancy Grace asked "How will this play to the good ol' boys at party headquarters?" "I'm sure my family, my husband and God will understand my failures and forgive my lapse in judgment. My girlfriend will be fine as long as you don't ask and she doesn't tell. And the good ol' boys will be asking me to more party events than ever, I'm their kind of Party girl. We're all sure I'll fit right in, right Mr. Foley and Craig and Sanford?"

Mixing Church & State, Bigotry and Religious Zealots Are Our Biggest Threat

People like this woman should never be elected to a public office. It is evident that she is derelict in her duties to serve ALL constituents and her community.

The Williams Institute at the UCLA School of Law, a sexual orientation law and public policy think tank, estimates that there are 8.8 million gay, lesbian, and bisexual persons in the U.S based on the 2005/2006 American Community Survey, an extension of the U.S. Census (Gary J. Gates, 2006, "Same-Sex Couples and the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual Population: New Estimates from the American Community Survey").

That is an estimate that does not include anyone who does not identify themselves as LGB, it does not include those under 18 years of age who identify as LGB, it does not include transgendered people and it is an educated estimate from 3 years ago. If you look at this number as compared to our populations of approx. 305,000,000 people in the US, LGBT comprise a fairly large demographic.

I am curious as to how Kerns and those who think like she does, would feel about that number of the citizens refusing to pay taxes and withdrawing from all other aspects of their contribution to the work force, government, military and every other aspect of society and life as an American?!

I am sure the deficit would be far more staggering if LGBT people were truly excluded from fair and equal treatment, in ALL aspects of life! Given these numbers, it would seem to me that w/o LGBT individuals contributing to the general coffers, we may well have an economic collapse. Perhaps this esteemed member of the OK political ranks should have these facts pointed out to her!

I have not seen one report of any of the nations who embrace diversity of sexual orientation, falling into ruins ... however, I have read historical accounts of Empires ruled by tyrannical leaders ceasing to exist in fairly short order, comparatively speaking.

She's got it all wrong....! Doesn't she know that it's all Obama's fault? Rush Limbaugh said so just last week, so it must be true!

Oi... maybe she'll start by cleaning up the nastiness in her own party - Foley, Sanford, et al. are waitin' to hear from ya, missus... That should keep her busy enough that she'll not be troubling the rest of us for a long, long time...

the economic woes and the moral bankruptcy of our once great country are due to abortion, pornography, same sex marriage, sex trafficking, divorce, illegitimate births, oral sex, child abuse, and many other forms of debauchery. When are we going to wise up? A pair of guys, probably republican gays, moved into the neighbourhood a year ago and the economy collapsed over night. To cap it all: now I have got toe cancer.

''And after watching a series of scandals unfold, I’ve come to the conclusion that the liberal reaction — that the hypocrisy of the moralizers undermines their cause — just doesn’t come to grips with the conservative worldview.

From their point of view the cause, the need to police what people do in bed, is, by definition, right, because it’s literally God-given. So the fact that some of those trying to police what other people do in bed are themselves doing nasty things does not reflect on the cause itself — on the contrary, it shows just how necessary more bed-snooping is.

It’s also notable that conservatives are, in practice, more forgiving of their politicians’ sins than liberals. John Edwards and Eliot Spitzer ended their political careers; Ensign and Vitter are still in the Senate, and Newt Gingrich is out there on the Sunday shows, speaking for the GOP. Why? Because where liberals see gross hypocrisy, conservatives see men doing the Lord’s work — which partially excuses their own failings. Liberals think that a man who has an affair is worse if he preaches moral values; conservatives think he’s better. You might say that as they see it, if he interferes with what enough other people do in bed, it doesn’t matter what he does himself.

So left is left and right is right, and never the twain shall meet.''

Sally is just DOING THE LORD'S WORK

What a Place!

Judging from the clowns and crackpots being sent to Congress and what the voters who send them there must be like in such a place as Oklahoma, most rational citizens with a choice would seriously pause before moving into the State and exposing themselves to the endless buffonery in its precincts.

For example, James Inhofe (R) whose bilge marks him as one of the Senate's leading dimwits has just been re-elected to six more years of being a burden on the citizens of the United States. It was recently reported that he refused to receive Supreme Court nominee Sotomayor into his office to discuss her views with him, demonstrating his gross lack of decency.

His masters, the plutocrats, whose luxurious comfort and all but tax-free lifestyles are of immense concern to him as a shameless stooge working so very hard for them must please the folks back home who, despite their economic status, mindlessly vote for him.

Inhofe, although the worst, is not alone as a spectacle. Just look at the Oklahoma crowd in the House and Senate, listen to their nonsensical prattle, and feel the intense satisfaction of not being among their constituents. That satisfaction will increase exponentially the farther one is outside the limits of Dupedom South.

Oklahoma is a schizophrenic place. We have the idiots who keep re-electing people like Kern and Inhofe and Coburn and then we have very liberal groups, too. Must admit at this point, liberals are outnumbered. I even know a liberal Unitarian-Universalist minister named Inhofe. Also from Tulsa--don't know if he is related to the senator or not--have been afraid to ask.

What Sally Kern needs to know is that nature says that there will always be homosexuals, heterosexuals, and bisexuals:this is part of our evolutionary past. What boggles the mind is how evolutionary mutations and natural selection ever created a brain called Sally Kern. Sorry, I forgot:people in her part of the world don't believe in evolution.

Current rating: 5    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
Okay, no surprises here, Sally. But let's all
(readers) do this little Q&A:

Q. Where do the moral Republicans find these
morons?

A. They run ads in the Jobs Section of local
newspapers:

"Great job, good money, travel,
excellent insurance, surrounded by people
with your same religious & moral beliefs.
Freedom to say anything hateful,whenever
you get the urge or the Speaking Points. No
repercussions. What a deal! Apply now!"

Not great copy –– gak, I was rushing ... but you get the gist. And it's not as simplistic as it reads, but ain't it scary! It's so easy to hate. (I mean, that's what I, alas, feel in varying degrees when I read this sort of Sally Credo Blather ... but I also feel revulsion & like I need a fast shower.)

These folks are creeps & dangerous. Maybe we should just ignore them? Difficult to do, I know, but they DO get off on this sort of coverage.

swof.

They don't have much left. Fear, abortion, and gays. After 911 we will never feel as safe, abortion has been legal for 30+ yrs, and gay humans are here to stay. They do not wish to get this country together they do their best at division. Prime example...Fox News.

Is the sun to strong down thataway? Fry your brain? Or is it that someone carried on some large scale genetic engineering in the Southern states alone? Most imbecilic mutterings of late seem to emanate from rebel territory, with the exception of Sarah Palin and Joe the Idiot, who may in fact be transplants from down South.

I don't recall any other period in our short history, where so many certified morons got so much face time or where we, not once, but twice elected a total idiot, who claimed to have been "educated" at the two reigning institutions of "higher learning", Yale and Harvard. If I were on the governing board of either of these two schools, I would work to remove the idiot's name from the roll of alumni.
