After President Obama named Rep. John McHugh (R-NY) as his nominee for Secretary of the Army, progressives have been working to better understand McHugh’s current position on “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” the ban on gays serving openly in the military. While McHugh still intends to refrain from publicizing his own personal view on the issue until his confirmation hearings, yesterday in an interview with Roll Call, he hinted that he believes it’s time to repeal the ban:

I have no interest as either a Member of Congress or as … secretary of the Army to exclude by some categorization a group of people otherwise qualified to serve,” McHugh told Roll Call.

He noted that the Armed Services Committee has not considered the policy “in any formal way” since 1993. In the meantime, “certainly, the recruiting-age population’s views have changed on that whole matter,” he said.

Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said on Tuesday that McHugh shared Obama’s commitment to repealing the ban.

Gay−hating Republicans love gay prostitutes −−
why???

Matt Sanchez, FOX News super hero and defender of all 'traditional American values', prefers to be called "Rod Majors." Did we forget to mention that Matt/Rod Sanchez/Majors is also...er...ah...a gay prostitute?

The Pink Triangle: Homosexuality Rampant in top Republican Circles: White House Staff’s Involvement

The Spence story never really registered on the national media’s radar screen. Despite being a largely Republican scandal, it was completely ignored by such pillars of the purportedly liberal press as the New York Times, the Washington Post and the Los Angeles Times. The story soon disappeared entirely and Washington and the media proceeded to pretend as though nothing had ever happened.

Conservatives launch web campaign to retain gay military ban

The Centre for Military Readiness claims that a "sexual agenda" is being pushed that "advances the goals of gay activist groups."

Check out their video, I thought it was perfectly awful:

Centre for Military Readiness

Want to know the real reason for DADT?

Kay Pollard Griggs, wife of Colonel George Griggs knows, and she was taped for 8 hours talking about it. Don't miss her descriptions of what they do to boys to get them to go along with their 'program'. It will change what you think of the war too.

I sure would like to know what the woman from The Centre for Military Readiness would think about this policy if she knew it's true purpose.

Would she be like my mother-in-law, "It couldn't have happened because I can't believe it?" Or would she realize the awful truth.

How about, "Don't Ask, Who Cares?"

The quality of the service person's ability and performance means more to me than who they sleep with.

Guys,
I love AlterNet, and read it avidly. Part of the reason I've found myself gravitating away from MSM is the utter lack of quality control that I'm seeing, these days.

A little proofreading, that's all I'm asking.

Thank you,

DG

...exclude people by category. That's amazing! Repubs and their Religious Right always exclude people by category. They exclude all of us godless libs by category. IOW, anyone who does not agree with their economic policies or their killing for corporate profit policies are, by category, automatically excluded.

Just because we think Muslims are people too, we are considered anti-American. Just because we don't espouse all of their fascist economic policies, we are supposed to be unamerican.

Apparently this McHugh is different. My aunt was a McHugh and she was accepting of even people she did not totally agree with, unlike the pope(s), our religion. Since the Pope likes these Rethugs so much he can have them. Birds of a feather... Their all a bunch of bums, bigots and haters.

Jesus central message was one of peace, love, tolerance and "Do unto others... They just threw that message out the window and out of human life and discourse. So America and the world is in the shape that it is. Thanks to them.

I'm often wondering how the Repub party and the Religious Reich are going to be when they find out they are not going to dominate the world and that the world is not going to end. Hitler did not dominate the world, nor will the Repub party. Will they be disappointed, will their hate and killing spree end, or will it continue, or will it get worse. When will the ever learn.

Probably, never!
