U.S. President George W. Bush issued an executive order on Monday that defined the primary objective of some 8,600 federal agency employees to be national security-related, rendering them ineligible for Federal Labor-Management Relations Program coverage such as collective bargaining rights. The order says:

The subdivisions of the Departments of Energy, Homeland Security, Justice, Transportation, and the Treasury set forth in … this order are hereby determined to have as a primary function intelligence, counterintelligence, investigative, or national security work. It is further determined that chapter 71 of title 5, United States Code, cannot be applied to these subdivisions in a manner consistent with national security requirements and considerations.
Among the affected subdivisions are the
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Department of Energy's Savannah River Operations Office, and certain offices of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Customs and Border Protection, Federal Emergency Management Agency, Transportation Security Administration, and the US Coast Guard. Of the affected federal employees, approximately 900 were affiliated with a union at the time of the order. A representative of the National Treasury Employees Union said that the collective bargaining groups will work with the Obama administration to overturn the order.

Last year, Bush threatened to veto an anti-terror bill if provisions allowing Transportation Security Administration airport screeners to unionize were included in the final version of the bill. The Senate adopted a weakened version in which collective bargaining over working conditions would not extend to pay, TSA screeners would not be permitted to strike during times of emergency, and the government would be permitted to "take whatever actions may be necessary to carry out the agency mission during emergencies, newly imminent threats, or intelligence indicating a newly imminent emergency risk." In 2005, a federal court blocked the Bush administration's personnel rules which would have stripped all Department of Homeland Security employees of their collective bargaining rights.

There is nothing these hideous bastards hate more than the thought that the average worker
get ahead . Unions help level the inherently unequal playing field beteen Employee and employer .
It is no coincidence that since Reagan the average income of American workers has stagnated in spite of HUGE increases in productivity during the same period . Previously the workers SHARED in the benefits that THEIR increased productivity CREATED but now the benefits go to Shareholders and Upper Management .
People forget that it was not out of the Kindness of their hearts that Companies begain
such things as the 8 hour day and 40 hour week . You can also include paid vacations and holidays . Not to mention Company provided Pensions and Health care coverage .It was UNIONS that forced these changes as well as advocating for safer working conditions and prohibiting child labor . The OWNERSHIP CLASS fought against these things . You may say well I'm NOT in a Union and I have those things so WHY should I care ? The simple answer is because were it not for the Unions YOU would NOT have them .

The Bush goal was to cripple the government, it never was a secret.

He just waited until the last minute on this move because it will raise such a howl of protest from his supporters. Honestly, I think Bush is a nut. He is purposely trying to destroy the US government. Why? I don't know.

I keep trying to find good things he has done, here is my only one, naming November Native American heritage month. I think it was only done last year and is all very hush, hush.

Here is a story.

Bush would have been well suited in a employment position with a demolition crew, handling the wreaking ball.
What I don't understand is how Bush can continue acting as president when he's been voted out of office.
Of course I could never understand how he could be acting as president in the first place.

Remember when the air traffic controllers went out on strike for better working conditions, or at least working conditions that wouldn't drive a person batshit with no hope of return?

He fired every last one of them, and hired scabs without any attempt at all to hear them out. I mean that was his FIRST RESPONSE. "You can't strike--You're fired!"

This is the pretext that the President-Reject is trying to use for denying these federal employees their (contractual) rights as union members, and stonewalling other government employees from engaging in union talks.

The employees engaged in critical national security work already have provisions, and have had for decades, that there can't be a work stoppage. This is just a gravy slider.

And you know he knows this crap isn't going to stand. What is he doing--just going hehhehheh in the corner with pen and paper to see how much chaos he can create for spite?

My Grandfathers Worked for th eBig 3 before Unions. My One was offered to return to school By Henry Ford (he only had a 6th grade Education). After which he began a large equipment repair co. He did very well repairing the Big 3's machines. he provide not only for his Children, but his grandchildren. He was a small business owner, The other half of the equation which will go down the drain with the Big 3.
My Ancestors came from Ireland, Italy, Luthuanian and helped Build a middle class, something Non existent in the 'Old World', and the REASON they took a chance and travel here- to give their decendants the chance at not only the American Dream, but also Freedom from social oppression.
Yet now I see no difference In America as those Countries at the time from which they Fled.
the last 30 + yrs has been a well planned and executed stratedgy to bring Feudalism to Americans.
What could be more Treasonous?
What could be more dishonorable?
What could be more Disgraceful?
What could be more disasterous? Not just to US,but to all those around the world who have considered US the Beacon of Hope, The Gold Standard, Something to aspire to?
Between 'Trickle Down' and the 'Religious right' how much closer can we come to that which provoked the founding of this Country?
What could possibly be a Higher Crime than that?
I Cry at my ancestors graves for the Loss of America (founded on thier struggles, sacrifics and hardships). I cry for my Daughter who will never see her Dreams fulfilled. I cry for those who have tried to derail this agenda and failed and have watched as this travesty has occured on Our watch. No shots were Fired, No Battle waged yet we have been defeated.
I don't want these Criminals to be hung for Treason, War Crimes and crimes against humanity because 'Revenge is a dish best served Cold', to satisfy my anger..but to pay homage to thoe who came before me and for those who will follow after me.So Strap that Yolk upon my back..I owe it to them both.

He just loves all the last minute "screw things up even more", and then walk away. A real patriotic guy. I wonder how he and Laura will leave the White House. Is there an underground tunnel? What an embarassment to the world. ANNA
