Anti-Choice Group 'Operation Rescue' Threatens to Buy Dr. Tiller's Clinic

After the brutal assassination of Dr. George Tiller, his family discussed closing down his controversial abortion clinic. Surprisingly, anti-choice group Operation Rescue — which had made closing down Tiller’s clinic one if its main goals — opposed the move. “Good God, do not close this abortion clinic for this reason,” said president Troy Newman. “Every kook in the world will get some notion.” However, yesterday, the Tiller family announced that the clinic will be “permanently closed.” Kate Klonick observes that “it seems like Newman isn’t quite as upset by the means of closing the clinic — at least not upset enough not to see his movement profit from it.” From the Kansas City Star:

Operation Rescue president Troy Newman said that his group has discussed the idea of buying the tan, windowless clinic in east Wichita. He made the comment after the Tiller family announced that the clinic would be closed permanently.

“I would love to make an offer on that abortion clinic, and that’s some of the discussion that we’re having,” Newman said in a telephone interview Tuesday from his group’s headquarters in Wichita.

It's a trophy. What other purpose could there possibly be?

Re: “Good God, do not close this abortion clinic for this reason - every kook in the world will get some notion.” - Operation Rescue president.

Kooks already compose the heart-and-soul of Operation Rescue's mailing list, and OR's purpose is to spread notions that only kooks love. Maybe he desires to remain Kook Central, and is worried that some of them may begin to drift off toward other kinks.

Overkill, don't you think? Trying to stir up more discontent?

Let them have it. If the tiller's have already caved in without exploring the options, i.e. another physician, private army, etc., then sell it. Price: $500,000,000.

That would help a lot of other centers and advertising. Let them put their money where their mouths are.

I can't imagine the family of Dr. Tiller selling this building to Operation Rescue. This would be a betrayal of all that the doctor stood for. It would sell out the cause of choice, which is to say, the cause of freedom.

To use the doctor's murder as a proclamation of victory and SPIT in the face of his family, the pro-choice movement, and women.

There is something really, really wrong with these people.

Retroactively aborted?

I really would not mind the fetus cultists to buy the clinic, as long as they could use it for its original purpose. After entering the clinic, they should be retroactively aborted. The reason for (retroactive) abortion of the fetus cultists is clear: birth defects that do not allow them to live in modern society.

Used only for Christian Life First operations of course. And to hold rallies where they can all praise Jee Suss for their "victory".

I too have bristled with some "not so peaceful" thoughts of what should be done with Operation Rescue, and have quelled them within myself to maintain my upper moral standing.

As an exMarine, I've had quite a colorful vision of what that building full of OR people would accomplish should it "collapse".
Then the vision of political discourse being the path positive to America and I aim once again at having our law enforcement programs, F'ing ENFORCE THE F ING LAWS!!!
I guess they were too busy rounding up some dangerous pot heads to bother locking up a violent threatening, vandalizing, killer. God forbid. I guess there is not near as much revenue in locking up violent criminals as there is in locking up regualar people that smoke dope. And look at how much safer that made the country.
Sorry, but, my disgust and sarcasm are showing so I'll stop now.
