Rush Limbaugh Attacks Obama with Lies and Bigotry

Yesterday Limbaugh flat out lied to millions of people about Barack Obama's heritage.

On the September 22 broadcast of his syndicated radio show, Rush Limbaugh baselessly claimed that Sen. Barack Obama is "not black," and went on to ask: "Do you know he has not one shred of African-American blood?" Limbaugh continued: "He's Arab. You know, he's from Africa. He's from Arab parts of Africa. ... [H]e's not African-American. The last thing that he is is African-American."

Think about it.


As of 2006, Arbitron ratings indicated that The Rush Limbaugh Show had a minimum weekly audience of 13.5 million listeners, making it the largest radio talk show audience in the United States.

Somewhere around 14 million Americans were assured today that Barack Obama is not African-American, but Arab-American. Here is the ethnic composition of Kenya, where Barack Obama's father came from (according to the CIA):


Kikuyu 22%, Luhya 14%, Luo 13%, Kalenjin 12%, Kamba 11%, Kisii 6%, Meru 6%, other African 15%, non-African (Asian, European, and Arab) 1%

Barack Obama Sr. was a member of the Luo tribe. They are not Arab. In fact, the vast majority of them are not even Muslim.


The Luo traditionally believed in an afterlife and a supreme creator, whom they called Nyasaye, and had a strong ancestor cult. Today most Kenya Luo are Christians, and a small number are Muslim.

In fact Barack Obama Sr. would not have been even nominally Muslim if his father (Barack's grandfather) had not converted.


His father, Onyango Obama (c. 1895-1979, buried at Alego),[1] belonged to the Luo tribe and was born Onyango, son of Obama (buried at Kendu Bay, Kenya) and wife Nyaoke, in one of their villages. Before working as a cook for missionaries in Nairobi, Onyango had travelled widely, enlisting with the name Onyango Obama in the British colonial forces during World War I and visiting Europe, India, and Zanzibar, where he converted from Christianity to Islam.

By all accounts, Barack Obama Sr. did not follow in his father's footsteps as an observant Muslim. He was not an Arab. And Rush Limbaugh just lied to his 14 million-strong audience about this for one simple reason. He wants to confuse people and frighten them by playing on their ignorance and fear of Islam and Arabs.



By all rights, there shouldn't be an advertiser in the country willing to associate their product with Rush Limbaugh's show. And for the record, Barack Obama Jr. is a Christian, raised by his white mother and grandparents in Honolulu, Hawaii. He spent a few years in Indonesia before returning to Hawaii to attend high school. He attended Occidental University in Los Angeles before transferring to Columbia University in Manhattan. He received his law degree from Harvard in Cambridge, Massachusetts before moving to Chicago to practice law. He also worked as a community organizer, helping people that had been laid off when the steel mills closed on the south side of Chicago.



In other words, Obama has lived in four major U.S. cities (five, if you include Honolulu). He has degrees from two Ivy League schools (just like George W. Bush). He's a Christian. And he was raised by white parents and grandparents. But Rush Limbaugh is telling people that he's an Arab and suspect as an American.

When I was young it was polite to refer to black people as "Negroes" or "Colored People". It was then considered rude to say "Blacks". Then in the 1970's "Blacks" became polite---this was concurrent with the newly popular phrases "Black Pride" and "Black is Beautiful". It is now polite to say "African-Americans". All of these terms refer to the same people. Rush Limbaugh is being cute here. The precise genealogical analysis of each and every Black-Colored-African-American is not possible to know. Does anybody remember "Roots"? Kunta Kinte was from West Africa---but he was a Muslim, and Islam derives from Arab countries. Most Mexicans are a mixture of native peoples and Spanish, their DNA mixing their ancestors who were already in Spain when North-African Arabs arrived and stayed for 800 years (to this day the Spanish word for "brunette" is "morena" which means "Moorish woman"). Most English are a mixture of the Germanic people who were already in England when the Norman French showed up in 1066, with a bit of leftover Romans and a smattering of Vikings. As usual, Rush Limbaugh is full of (choose your word, there being at least 400 known applicable words here, coming to us from many languages and histories).

Since when is Limbaugh's being a lying sack of s... newsworthy? That time that he tells the truth (probably by mistake), now, that ought to make it to the front page. 14 millions of Americans waste their time listening to his drivel and buying it. This tells you everything you need to know about these 14 million people. In fact, I know that many of them live here. Lubbock TX: welcome to the Real Dark Ages!

I heard that and his point was he is not African American no one bit, but rather his dad is African (foreign) and his mom's from Kansas. The point being his dad isn't from say Detroit. That was my take on it.

not that the right to freedom of speech allows lecherous, bigoted, discriminatory, racist, sexist pieces of carp spew this type of hateful language across US airwaves.

It is the fact that there are "a minimum weekly audience of 13.5 million listeners" who actually tune into this piece of shit and like him. Doesn't say much for a fair size segment of the US population.

I can't wait to here the next liar come out and say there is not a race or discrimination problem in the US.

I realize that this creep is probably drug-addled, but it is time to stop these ridiculous lies. Everyone should call their local radio stations that carry his program and complain, write your paper and contact your governemental representatives. If Limbaugh were right and there is a dangerous Muslim in the Senate, that would indicate a HUGE failure of the NSA, HSA, CIA and FBI in vetting Obama and thus a Gigantic Security breach in our current government. Barack Obama has been thoroughly checked out and is probably under some surveilance most of the time. Limbaugh is an evil moron and whoever can sue the fool for slander should do it and the stations that carry his twisted dis-information campaign as well.

Whoever advertises on his programming should be boycotted. I don't know who they are, because I can't stomach listening to him long enough for a commercial break to come along.

I may have found something stinky. It is interesting what turns up when you start looking into religion. Extracted from this blog post,

There must be an organization that keeps track of the companies that advertise on Rush's Show. I wish I could find it. He is a crime against America. I subscribe to several right wing watch newsletters, but would love to boycott anything advertised on Rush.

on Keith Olbermann in the Worst Persons segment.

Limbaugh has to do this in order to continue to be "relevant." That's all he's got. He isn't legitimate, so he has to resort to one outrageous thing after another in order to keep his audience.

If Obama wins, perhaps the Fairness Doctrine will be revived and Limbaugh will fade into the woodwork, where all cockroaches belong.

Rush Limbaugh should get his nuts cut off,if he had any, that is. I am sure he thinks he does, spewing all the outrageous, insulting detritus of inuendo and, as we have seen, just lowly everyday viscious lies. But surrounded with the wealth provided him by the stupid suckers who lap up his daily dose of adolescent bilge and the literal security he enjoys, bodyguards, etc., that money, no matter how ill-gotten, provides, he knows he's safe. So what kind of cred does he get for being a disingenuous blowhard?

Limbaugh could probably spend as much on Viagra as I do on liquor, primarily because of people like him, and still not get it up. It is painfully obvious that anyone as surly, fat, angry, and malicious as he is has to be having a "man problem." He can't seem to keep his women at home. And the dope for the "family values" guy? Limbaugh is a dope fiend! What's that all about? This guy is a joke, as complete an asshole as there is or has been in the late 2oth-21st century, a giant(relatively speaking) towering above mental midgets, his followers being even more pathetic than he is. Yea, he has an audience of 13 million alright, 13 million dolts and losers, out of the 180 million adults in this country. If you examine a standard IQ bell curve, the 7.5% of American adults he caters to roughly approximates the lower end of the left side of that curve, the segment just to the right of mildly retarded.

He has become the self-appointed spokesman for the bigots, knuckleheads, whackos, and reactionaries, the absolutely clueless, of America. I am not sure whether he believes his own horseshit or that it is nothing more than a premeditated persona, an act, for the purpose of cashing in on a market of ignorance. I am also not sure which possibility would be morally worse. I am sure of this, however: Limbaugh's monetary success is one of the best arguments against capitalism anyone could offer.
