There was a fraternity house atmosphere inside the Denver Minerals Management Service office.

Gov't Officials Probed About Illicit Sex, Gifts

Government officials handling billions of dollars in oil royalties engaged in illicit sex with employees of energy companies they were dealing with and received numerous gifts from them, federal investigators said Wednesday.
The alleged transgressions involve 13 Interior Department employees in Denver and Washington. Their alleged improprieties include rigging contracts, working part-time as private oil consultants, and having sexual relationships with -- and accepting golf and ski trips and dinners from -- oil company employees, according to three reports released Wednesday by the Interior Department's inspector general.
The investigations reveal a "culture of substance abuse and promiscuity" by a small group of individuals "wholly lacking in acceptance of or adherence to government ethical standards," wrote Inspector General Earl E. Devaney.
Sounds like a perfect illustration of Republicanism to me. Drill, drill, drill.

Why should they have to choose between the two?

apparantly one cannot post links to other specific cites in the comments forum. why? otherwise i'd post the link to this article, anyhow find it by googling "yahoo news, oil sex scandal" where you'll find an article painfully more thorough and substatiative than that of the great voice of the people, alternet, on what should grace (disgrace) the front page of every news or electronic news' publication. especially a "real news" outlet as this cite is cracked up to be.

we still have not been told which gov't officials were involved in this rare glimpse into the underbelly of big buisness and gov't lifestyle. that we must have a right to kno.

...I can't help myself, I think 'where is the party and how do I get invited?'

The "illicit sex" angle on this story is obnoxious and I'm frankly sick of hearing about who's doing whom. I don't give a fuck.

What I DO care about is what the story should really be about which is corruption where sex, among other things like drugs, is merely a lubricant for the CORRUPTION.

OTOH, damn, I oughtta work for the Big Oil...
