This is video from the first of a series of raids Ramsey County Sherrifs deputies carried out on groups, people and locations related to plans to protest the Republican National Convention. This raid happened at 10pm on Friday night and Wyoming and Smith in St. Paul.

The pattern of detaining, searching and then releasing large numbers of people would be followed in the several raids that followed on Saturday.

Time to Wake up America

The woman in the video hit the nail on the head, "it's becoming a police state". What she failed to follow up with is that it has already become a police state and will only get worse under a McCain administration. Gustav may actually turn out to be a blessing as I see more harm coming from the RNC convention than from a hurricane. Thank God the people have been evacuated. As a caveat: If you aren't familiar with "The Shock Doctirne" by Naomi Shields now would be a good time to read it. Another "natural" disaster is a good time to rush through legislation which, when we recover, will leave us with less freedom. Remember 911 and the resulting Homeland Security.

'Country First'- Which one??

Of course to begin with,is 'God's trying to tell you something' Mac, Katrina on your Birthday and Gustav on the kick off of your convention week. Or is he trying to tell US something?
Is this Police State Action also a clear indication of the Way the Next Repug admin will move forward with their 'HomeLand Defense ' stratedgy?
When Mac says 'Country First' I have to ask WHICH Country? Besides isn't this country supposed to be 'The People First'?"For the People By the People".When you define country- it not only includes people, but Gov't bodies and Industry...Seems Mac's Pledge is only to the latter two.
This is in direct conflict to the most basic & foundemental Value Americans hold Dear. Gov't & Industry are Our creations, Our tools, Not the other way around. When gov't & Industry take over control,Freedoms & Rights they are nothing more than 'Monarchys' with a stamp or Logo, instead of crown & septar.
We've had traitors before who were willing to betray our country...Benedict Arnold, Now John McCain, serving the Dictatorhip of CheneyCorp- 40 yrs in power, it's time to overthrow the Oil 'Royals' and their Totalitarian World Order.

Want to Know What the Sheeple Think?

If you want to know what the good sheeple of the Twin Cities think, check out the Comments section in the coverage on the St. Paul Pioneer Press website.

By about 100 to 1, the Plain Folks are just quivering with gratitude to the Sheriff for delivering them from these fearsome Commies, what with their "caltrops" (?? some jaggy things the Sheriff decided would be used to disable buses) and "buckets of urine and feces" (these are Permaculturists and vegans ... these folks compost *everything*).

Some commenters are calling for the hippies' deaths, and claiming that the Sheriff "saved the convention".

Every 100 messages or so, someone tries to point out that, on a fishing expedition, the Sheriff could probably find such dangerous things as paint thinner, rags, and empty glass bottles in *anyone's* garage.

At which point a few dozen people will denounce that person as a hopeless America-hating Communist.

Go look. Take your barf bag.

Sigh.

Is when they did a raid and announced that they found pepper spray and chemical weapons... which were actually black pepper used for cooking in the building's kitchen and paint thinner used in painting floats, etc..

Palin's baby story is a distraction

from the outrageous violations of our civil rights that have become so commonplace that they are barely noticed when there's a more "sexy" story.

What makes me furious is that HR 1955 , the Homegrown Terrorism Act has not been passed by the Senate (S1959) yet, police are already acting as though it is law. The Homegrown Terrorism Act , among other things, seeks to pre-empt "terrorist" conspiracies by rounding up people who are thinking and talking about issues that may lead to terrorism. This is the Thought Police in action !

My Congressman, Norm Dicks of WA 6th Dist. co-sponsored HR 1955 and you'd be surprised how many "liberal" Democrats voted for it. It passed with more than 400 votes. Their "excuse" I'm sure, is that it was going to pass so the ones up for re-election don't want to be called unpatriotic.

There are no more "profiles" in courage, it seems. The view we get is one of cynically "covered" asses.

Just like the "Permibus" used for teaching permaculture. Their bus was impounded in Minnesota for NO reason. Minions and shills is what america has become. Now your even considering a complete liar to be the next president. What on earth is going on? Ol Rove, americas answer to Goebbles, Hitlers spin man would be proud. Good luck
