With the news of Sarah Louise Heath Palin inexplicably being chosen as a Vice-Presidential nominee, the attentive American public was also introduced to her character. Unfortunately for all of us, it was filled with multiple instances of backtracking and outright lies. While Alaskans had been giving her an 80% approval rating, recently 87% of Alaskans polled on the subject of TrooperGate believed she was lying.

Now, I've known liars in my life. Their single core problem is not with themselves, but those around them. If they're never called out on their twisting of truths and fabrications, they simply continue to make larger lies.

Well, Sarah, I'm calling you a liar. And not even a good one. Trig Paxson Van Palin is not your son. He is your grandson. The sooner you come forward with this revelation to the public, the better.

The story begins on March 6th, when Sarah decided to come forward and announce to the world that she was pregnant, a monumental occasion for an acting Governor. Republican Governor Jane Maria Swift of Massachusetts was the first sitting Governor in United States history to give birth in office just seven years before, and now here we were once again. Yet, no one could believe the news:

JUNEAU -- Gov. Sarah Palin shocked and awed just about everybody around the Capitol on Wednesday when she announced she's expecting her fifth child.

Palin said she's already about seven months along, with the baby due to arrive in mid-May.

That the pregnancy is so advanced astonished all who heard the news. The governor, a runner who's always been trim, simply doesn't look pregnant.

Even close members of her staff said they only learned this week their boss was expecting.

"I thought it was becoming obvious," Palin said. "You know, clothes getting snugger and snugger."

But people just couldn't believe the news.

"Really? No!" said Bethel state Rep. Mary Nelson, who is close to giving birth herself.

"It's wonderful. She's very well-disguised," said Senate President Lyda Green, a mother of three who has sometimes sparred with Palin politically. "When I was five months pregnant, there was absolutely no question that I was with child."

Palin said she's not aiming to take any time off from her job as governor, assuming all goes well with the pregnancy.

With Palin riding extraordinarily high popularity ratings, pundits have mentioned her as a potential vice presidential candidate. But she said Wednesday night she's "not pursuing or perpetuating it," adding, "I have no desire to leave my job at all as governor."

She's known as a fashion plate, but said she hasn't been dressing differently to cover her barely perceptible bulge.
Funny quote on her having no desire for the Vice-Presidency aside, the article is direly clear. No one knew she was pregnant, not even her own staff. Quite a feat. Why the secrecy? Sarah has never given an answer, and upon further reading, no one has bothered to ask.

Seven months into a pregnancy, and no one noticed.

Even Harry Houdini would be impressed.

And how could anyone tell? Sarah's waistline never changed. Her wardrobe still remained tight and professional. In a video posted in February (nearing five months of pregnancy at the time), Sarah is seen trim, and walking around all of Juneau, Alaska.

"I like running the hills, it kills me, that's why I like it, I mean it thrashes your guts"
Not exactly terminology said by a pregnant mother. Six months into pregnancy, she attended the National Governor's Association at the White House:

And another three days before the announcement, on March 3rd:

Here she is, seven months pregnant, three days after her official announcement:

And one week later:

And that infamous video in which Sarah trashes Hillary Clinton? That was at the Newsweek Women & Leadership Event in Los Angeles, in March:

After previous pregnancies (in this case, four), and at later ages, the female body is meant to adjust and show changes earlier, not later as in Sarah's unprecedented case.

On Friday, April 18th, 2008, Sarah and her husband Todd were in Dallas, Texas for a Republican Governor's Convention. They had been in town for three days already, but Sarah had yet to give her keynote speaker address on energy policy. Then early Friday morning at 4:00am, Sarah began leaking amniotic fluid. Instead of checking into a hospital, she instead made a call to her doctor, and delivered the keynote speech.

"I was not going to miss that speech," she says.

She rushed so quickly from the podium afterwards that Texas Gov. Rick Perry nervously asked if she was about to deliver the baby then.
The oddities only grow from here on, as instead of rushing to a Dallas medical facility that could treat a mother who's amniotic fluid has been draining for hours on end (made even more crucial due to the fact that this is occurring a full month prematurely), Sarah & Todd instead opted to Fly all the way back from Texas to Alaska. A dangerous choice, as with each pregnancy (once again, in this case after four previous), a mother's window of labor to delivery grows shorter and shorter.

Aboard Alaska Airlines, the flight lasted for eight hours, with an additional landing in Seattle. The majority of commercial airlines require mothers seven months pregnant to provide a doctor's letter to fly, but Sarah did not inform the airline of her condition. Alaska Airlines is one of the few airlines that do not require such a notice, despite the possibility of an emergency landings being required in such scenarios. That said, no one on board noticed that Sarah was going into labor:

"We leave the decision to fly up to our customers and their medical advisers," according to Alaska Airlines representative Caroline Boren.

"Governor Palin was extremely pleasant to flight attendants and her stage of pregnancy was not apparent by observation as she didn't show any signs of distress," Boren said.
Eight months pregnant. A 6.2 pound fetus. No one notices a visible trace. By the third trimester, a perfectly fit woman not wearing anything less than a space suit should be easily spotted as pregnant. Not in Sarah's case.

The plane then made a landing in Anchorage, Alaska. Does Sarah then visit a medical facility that can accommodate a premature birth in Alaska's most equipped city? No. She drives 45 minutes away, to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center, right outside the small village she used to govern as Mayor, Wasilla. Trig Palin is then delivered one month premature, Friday night. Sarah returned to work after three days.

The inherent need to absolutely have Trig delivered in a remote and possibly ill-equipped facility for premature deliveries, where Sarah would likely have numerous contacts and pull, does not sit well. The doctor, Cathy Baldwin-Johnson, approving of all of these actions borders on malpractice. Not treating leaking amniotic fluid causes infections, and time is of the essence after water breaks. Husband Todd Palin simply delivers this winner of a line:

"You can't have a fish picker from Texas," said Todd.
A poor motivation, to be sure. Another motivation began making its rounds in the Alaskan legislature, where everyone was initially shocked to hear the news.

Sarah Palin was not pregnant with child.

Her sixteen year-old daughter was.

Checking with the Anchorage High School that Bristol Palin attended, reporters were given word that her family had taken Bristol out of school due to contracting infectious mononucleosis. The amount of time Bristol was absent shifts from five to eight months.

Mono can last anywhere from two weeks to three months, but an eight month infection is a freak oddity. Yet it remains a common excuse given by girls in private & Catholic schools around the nation when pregnancy comes into play. Not the first time, not the last time.

The following photograph of Bristol has been dated late 2007:

 title=
(Full Hi-Res, Right)

The final point of interest is that Trig Palin has been diagnosed with Down's syndrome (aka trisomy 21). This is an interesting point, as chances of having offspring with Down's Syndrome increases from under 1% to 3% after a mother reaches the age of 40. However, 80% of the cases of Down's Syndrome are in mother's under the age of 35, through sheer quantities of births in this age group.

People like to think the vetting process is secure, and completed months ahead of time, but ABC News has reported otherwise, painting a picture of a quick vetting process for Sarah by a small, but secretive group of McCain's legal staff. A proper vetting process under those circumstances would only go so far, and the true media vetting process has just begun.

It doesn't come as a surprise that this story was never properly researched. Palin was never on the National scene for more than a few minutes at a time, and local reporting only goes so far on a governor with an 80% approval rating. However, the motivation to cover daughter's pregnancy aligns with her political standings. She valiantly did not perform an abortion, but fell into the fundamentalist way of thinking, and covered up for the illicit (but natural) action's of her daughter.

There could be calls below to delete this information. Calls that this type of information is muckraking and 'below us'. The truth is not below any progressive, nor any citizen of the world that is one heartbeat away from having Palin as leader of the free world. We simply ask that she be forthright, honest, and not waste our time with such juvenile games that anyone with eyes can see as fabrication.

Bristol Palin rightfully should be able to embrace her child in public as her own, with no shame, and no quarter. And a mother should be just as accepting.

UPDATE:As has been noted in several diaries here at dKos (yes, I still read as much as I can here, despite my lack of posting), the circumstances around the birth of Sarah Palin's fifth child are particularly suspicious. This link from Reddit gives the basic rundown on the rumors. Given the photographic showing what seems to be a very not-pregnant Palin earlier this year, combined with the somewhat dangerous-sounding report that she flew back to Alaska after her water broke, it would seem that there is some strong circumstantial evidence that she was covering for her now-17 year old daughter Bristol - who was reportedly out of school a long time due to mononucleosis.

So I decided to email Gregg Erickson, the reporter from the Anchorage Daily News who hosted a chat at the Washington Post's website earlier today. I asked about the rumors, including the circumstantial evidence that seems to support a cover-up.

Here's his response:

The press did a pretty good job of following up on the substitute child rumor. It proved baseless.

I'm no obstetrics expert, but flying home - while having contractions - seems dangerous to me as well. Perhaps a real expert could opine on that. You have to say this about her: she's tough.

Given that Erickson was blunt (if not a bit unimpressed) in his evaluation of Palin during the chat this afternoon, I think it's fair to say that if he says the rumors were investigated and debunked, that should be that. Let's focus on the other issues that make Sarah Palin a bad choice for VP hereon out - not a story that makes for a good rumor but has no basis in reality.

Supposedly she's a hero because she announced that she chose to have a child knowing the child would be DS. I have problems with using your kids as props, or at least want to draw a line somewhere about that, though that horse is out of the barn I guess. But something doesn't fit here.
If Palin is so pro life, why have an amnio at all if she or whoever wasn't going to act on it?
Why have the test if you would object to having an abortion based on the result?

she knew in December, 2007 that there were problems with the child. All these quotes came however after the child was born. If a mother knew that she might have complicates with a child that has DS, why would you take a 10-11 hour plane ride back to Alaska from Texas after contractions had started. I don't feel comfortable with this but there are other issues with which to go after the McCain campaign.

really but something doesn't add up.
The National Governor's Association meeting where Gov Palin supposedly met Sen McCain was in DC Feb 23-25.
Energy seems to have been a top issue. Gov Palin is listed as attending. McCain doesn't appear on the minutes as speaking or visiting, though I suppose he could easily have come as a guest to a reception since it was in Washington.
Eight days later Gov. Palin announces she is pregnant, though apparently no one had noticed. The baby is born in April.
Back at work days later.
Odd that McCain wouldn't have noticed she was pregnant. I'm assuming that he didn't notice. It's enough of a stretch to have a woman on the national ticket at all, but a pregnant women is incredible given the physical demands of campaigning and the physical stress on baby and mom pre and postpartum.

The best time to campaign (if such a thing could be limited) is second trimester, when you have a double blood supply. First semester, not a great idea, nausea and fatigue; third forget it without a wheelbarrow and a pile of pillows and an OB on call.
You can't take chances.
McCain doesn't seem to be so out there a pregnancy would be OK since it is a risk.
Something doesn't ring true here.

Palin had made a choice, governor. There are times when you must make sensible choices. Risking the life of a child because you don't have time to go to the delivery room is a very, very bad choice.

I totally support choice. But women who have babies and farm them out, so that they can do everything, are not making good choices. Flying after one's water has broken isn't just an infection risk to mother and child but risky to everyone on that plane, who might have had to divert.

With choices come responsibilities. Choose to get pregnant, and you must choose to take care of the child.

Something like 1.5 per live births for a women age 42. That sticks in my mind because of my sister, numerous cousins and an aunt became pregnant, and chose have the child, in their early to mid forties (one was actually 48).

The only incident of Down's syndrome in my family is a boy born 23 years ago to one of my 22 year old cousins. He lived at home, attended regular schools, and was just two years behind his cohorts. He now lives in an apartment, supervised by a case worker and his parents, and shared with another Downs fellow. He works part time upholstering furniture and is taking a classe in American literature at his local community college. He loves reading. He's very happy with his life. His parents have made arrangements for his care if something happens to them; fortunately they are very comfortable financially.

Not all Downs Syndrome suffer severe disabilities either. Today's DS babies have much better medical, social and educational abilities available to them.

Having a Downs baby is a hard decision to make. No one can tell the level of disability, and if something happens to the parents, who will care for the child? How will the medical expenses be covered? If the child is severely disabled, can the family withstand the stress? Even a mild to moderate case can cause relationships to go sour.

It's a leap of faith to decide to continue a pregnancy knowing you won't have a "perfect" child, and every woman and her family chooses what they feel is right for them.

It's their right to make the choice, and their burden to bear. We don't have the right to tell them "No you shouldn't have this baby".

She gave a speech and flew home from Texas to Alaska after her water broke? Was that a direct flight? How many direct flights from Texas to Alaska are there in a day? Does she have her own private plane as Governor of Alaska?

Sorry, but quoting an Anchorage reporter who claims he investigated the story doesn't put an end to it. I recognize that this is National Enquirer stuff and we should lay off it out of taste. I seriously hope this matter is carefully investigated by responsible, seasoned journalists. (Please tell me we still have those available.)

I wish I could say "leave the family alone, it doesn't matter." BUT IT DOES.

This politician has put her family front and center in her politics and has made a huge stand against women's choices over their own bodies.

If this story is true, it completely undermines her credibility on so many levels and brings up very important policy questions:

~The coverup would take a lot of lying by a lot of people; it's a deep concern that she would have the ability to pull off a lie of this magnitude--and what does she then owe to the people who kept her secret?
~The anti-choice/anti-birth control wing of the party wants young girls like Gov. Palin's daughter to do what, exactly, when they get pregnant?
~GWB's America has seen an increase in teenage pregnancies AND abortions, after dips in both during Clinton years. NOONE LIKES ABORTION, not even the pro-choicers--But what's the best way to REDUCE THE NUMBER of abortions? First answer--access to birth control!

Just as I think the media was right for exposing John Edwards (because he made his wife and family such a campaign issue) so the same reasoning applies here.

If Palin's daughter was pregnant, and she wanted to avoid scandal, why not just send the daughter away "to a private school" to have the baby, and then maybe fake an adoption?

American history has never seen anything like it. In my opinion, this election for president is going to expose all of the nasty stupid greedy horrid repugs that put GWB/CHENEY into the White House. People complain about the dems in Congress not being effective? They've represented a small majority in Congress for less than two years and never had enough votes to over-ride the republicans so get over it please. Palen's nomination for VP gives all of us many more reasons to unite to elect Barack and Biden. God help this country if McCain and the GOP pull this off. They really do think we are all stupid, very stupid, they can sell us anything. As a woman that birthed four children without complications such as prematurity or my age nor did any of my children have special needs. I can tell you with great certainty that what Sarah is claiming is categorically impossible. Claiming to be in labor while giving a speech, fly home than drive far, going back to work THREE days after delivering!!!! They are making it up as they go along, all the repugs. Even Rove can't save them. They are attempting to deceive a country that has finally woken up and engaged in the democratic process in an age of the 24 hour news cycle and grossly underestimate the intelligence in what can only be called a democratic revolution comparable to the Reagan revolution in the 1980's but in the other direction.

May I just say, YIPPPEEEEEEE!

BARACK/BIDEN 08 for a saner safer America

Beware of people planting false information to the news... Just like the incident of whether George Bush used his father's influence to get into the coveted and limited National Guard positions.

They plant one small false item and then the greater lie gets discounted when the "real truth" is in dispute.

There does seem to be small spaces between the "connecting of the dots" in this situation. But what we don't know is how Sarah has looked during her other pregnancies or did her close friends and family know of her pregnancy (when she was off job and more natural). It is not unusual for women to sometimes delay that bit of information when it has been common to call in the compentency of women (holding higher positions in government) in general- let alone women who are pregnant.

I believe taking the "high road" in this case if also the politically expediant road. Most all families can relate to unexpected pregnancies. The issue is not whose child it is or abortion or no abortion. It is in reducing unwanted pregnancies and supporting families with children (planned or not) with meaningful work and pay, quality affordable childcare, healthcare, and in general "family" not "corporate" (as in bottom line-money) policies.

There are other countries who are doing this well. It can be done. Let's not let the Rovian strategy divide us as a people...yet again.

Neither mother nor daughter looks pregnant in any of the pictures. On the other hand, PhotoShop, used skillfully, can correct a number of "sins." The baby surely doesn't look like a month-early preemie, either. He looks like a full-term baby, and a healthy one at that. There very well could be something to this story. If true, it says a lot about that woman's character that she would treat her teenager's pregnancy as something shameful -- to the point she went through great lengths to lie about it and cover it up.

But what's with the odd name? Trig? Is that short for something? Was the kid named after Roy Rogers' horse?

This would be a huge story if true, but why do I have a feeling that this is a pre-planned Roveian scavenger hunt that will end up in folly for all of us who participate?

I don't know, I'm just very wary of this VP selection as it appears so outwardly wrongheaded that there has to be some malevolent underside to it.

Remember, the #1 belief of the Republican Party is that people are stupid, and the #2 belief of the Republican Party is that voters are the stupidest people of all.

. . .(assuming it's true) is that Palin is an icon for the abstinance-only crowd; the people who insist that giving young people the actual scientific FACTS about sex is somehow going to destroy their perfect little hermetically sealed Ozzie and Harriet-theme park fantasy world.

When, inevitably, this approach to sex education fails, these mouth-breathing flat-earthers demonize and shame the young mother who wasn't properly equippied to deal with her natural drives and emotions in the first place (and you can bet the father gets off scot free).

What really sickens me about Palin's brand of "Christian family values" is that these people are incapable of being honest. Since most sane people reject their brand of atavistic willful ignorance, Palin et al. try to re-package themselves as reasonable and mainstream through lies of omission and downright deception. If your "faith" is so strong; if you so adamantly believe you possess the "truth" why are you afraid or ashamed to let it compete in the marketplace of ideas?

Palin's hypocrisy is stunning (though perhaps no less stunning than McCain's bone-headedness in chosing her); the lies already exposed (and the all-too quick willingness to resort to lies and downright character assasination) should be enough to sink her candidacy. . .but probably won't in what is fast becoming one of the siliest political seasons ever.

Wake me up when it's time to vote!

GO OBAMA/BIDEN!!!!!!!

While much of this story is best left to the tabloids, the factual bits as reported by Alaskan papers are enough to make it inarguable that Palin showed awful judgment on April 17 in handling the delivery of her baby.

Risking your life and your babies' life so that it can be born in the state of your choice is irresponsible.

If this is how she reacts to emergencies, her wisdom and rationality is certainly in question.

31/104617/671/991/580751

thisdamningaudio tape of a recorded phone call from Palin senior staffer Frank Bailey to an Alaska Public Safety Department staffer.

First Palin claimed she knew nothing about any pressure from her office to fire her ex-brother-in-law, and her subsequent firing of the Public Safety Director Walt Monegan when he would not do so.

Palin now admits DOZENS of contacts to state police, both from her staff and from her husband, Todd, but admitted only after this TrooperGate recording surfaced.

Does her husband have access to highly confidential information that would need a security clearance? Does he have that clearance? How involved is he in the daily affairs of state, and should he be involved at all? Just a few questions....

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/8/
31/11597/0342/569/581165

Did they even do anything CLOSE to vetting Sarah Palin?

Yesterday, I wrote about how Sarah Palin was nothing more than a two-bit hack, given the investigation into her abuse of power as Governor, firing the Public Safety Commissioner when he wouldn't fire her ex-brother-in-law, lied about pressuring the guy to do so, and then showed keen judgment by replacing him with someone who had to resign in two weeks because of sexual harassment problems.

Seems that Palin honed this skill back as Mayor of Wasilla, where she was nearly recalled, for firing the Police Chief and Library Director for not supporting her in her 1996 race for Mayor.

It seems the good woman is not above having temper tantrums that can cause her citizens major headaches. Anyone this petty is far beneath the stature required of a Vice President. What was Rove thinking?!

Surely I am not the only one who saw a dark haired young woman seated behind and to the right of Mrs.Palin as she spoke during her introduction, or whatever, a couple nights ago. The woman was obviously holding a small baby in her lap, all wrapped up in blankets, and at one time raised the baby up and kissed it with a look you might expect a Mother to have, but rarely the look of a sister. I'm betting it was Palin's daughter holding her own baby.

The birth certificate should be interesting. If it lists Sarah Palin and it turns out she did not have a baby, the doctor's license is in jeopardy and Palin could face charges as well. If it lists her daughter, who is listed as the father? In whose name was the insurance company billed, and was there an attempt to defraud them? I have a hunch this story is spot on, in which case Palin has some explaining to do.

That Story undermines her claim to good judgement and Moral values.

If this is, in fact, true, many Christians are not going to see it as a big deal. It's not so much a lie as a social gloss, choosing the least of several evils to deal with a situation that is not of Palin's own making. (They wouldn't see a lack of birth control as a contributing factor - they'd see it as Bristol's lack of morals. More on that in a moment.) So a lot of them are going to say so what? It's a private family matter. (I can personally point to five separate equivalent incidents in my family in the last thirty years - four shotgun weddings and an in-family adoption. Everyone knew, and nobody batted an eyelash.)

Second, while the bloggers who "exposed" this can yell all they want about Bristol having a right to call her son her own, the fact is, she herself wouldn't see it that way. In her culture, a teenager who gets pregnant is a slut. End of story. So the media who broke this rumour have contributed to a young woman being dragged through the mud and shamed publicly, even if they don't believe she should be ashamed. Others - others who are close to the girl, whose opinions matter to her - will see this as shameful.

I think this story is going to backfire on the blogosphere, making Alternet and DailyKos and anyone else who has spread it look like heartless, vicious slanderers. There will be moderates who will vote FOR Palin because you've drummed up sympathy for her - especially if the rumour turns out to be false, and I've seen at least three pictures where she looks pretty darn pregnant.

Sarah Palin IS a SERIAL LIAR! A manipulator of the WORST kind. She IS conspiring to protect her virtue as a politician by covering up her daughter's most certain pregnancy... based on a reasonable assessment of the totality of the evidence.

If photographs are legit then Sarah Palin is malevolently DISHONEST... and if you think Dick Cheney was bad wait until this one takes office.

Notwithstanding the other lies about the Bridge to Nowhere and the Moneghan controversy the in results of ongoing investigation conveniently scheduled to arrive AFTER the election. What else is there that is being COVERED UP... ?

Get THIS out to MSM... FORCE THE INVESTIGATION NOW!!!!!! America Cannot tolerate this fraud!

Once the Gustav story dies out - this could be the story of the week and if it turns out to be true, Palin will be forced to step down. That could effectively implode the McCain campaign since this was a candidate that was forced on him by the religious right wing. If this issue wasn't vetted, heads will roll. If it was vetted and ignored, big heads will roll.

Why are you people so easy to manipulate?

Have you forgotten already how easily they destroyed the FACTS about Bush's AWOL by putting a single fake document and then dismiss the whole story as fake?

This woman is under impeachment procedure, not concentrating on the main issue here will take the heat of the real issue and just like the Bush's AWOL story, you will be on the loser end of this story.

Why is Alternet, DailyKOS and other so called progressive web site sinking so low in their behavior?

What is the next for your guys? Discuss the quality of her teeth of the size of boobs or if she has sex with an alien?

It has been reported that Sarah Heath Palin comes from a Catholic family and was born a Catholic. She later left the Catholic church and joined the Assembly of God. There is a story in Alaska - and I stress that for now it is only a story- that Sarah Palin left the Catholic faith because as a teenager, she herself wanted to have an abortion and could no longer remain a catholic. I certainly would appreciate it if anyone has any info on this. It certainly would end her aspirations to be VP.

Can we get back to real news, please? This isn't it.

I expect Alternet to publish a retraction tomorrow morning, using standard journalistic procedure, where the headline of the retraction is in a similar place, and similarly visible, to the headline of the original article. Having assisted in dragging this family through the mud, it's the only decent thing to do.

Now let's get back to debating policy, and leave the misogynistic mudslinging to the tabloids.

There seems to be two arguments going on here.
1. She didn't have this baby.
2. She was reckless with her pregnancy.
If she did indeed leak amniotic fluid, only she would know that and why would she tell anyone? If she was lying and just wanted to get home for the birth of her grandson, why say anything at all?

All this will be spun, we'll have a Jim and Tammy Baker moment, and then abortion or pregnancy will be interpreted as sin, which is the precondition to all salvation and being born again.

We all see what we want to see, and those who drink Charles Manson's koolaid will never admit to the crimes of Bush and Cheney.

On the other hand, Gustav tells us this morning that God will never save sinners like Bush and Cheney because their repentance is all fakery. Senator McCain and Governor Palin, whatever your truth is, you know it before we know it, and the time for you to fess up is here. No photo op will change the memory of Michael Brown playing golf in Atlanta while the people of New Orleans drowned and languished on their rooftops.

God helps all of you !!! You need it now when you used his name in vain !!!

Here is a thought...

Assume that you are a 44 year old governor who had been told you might be on a short list for VP of the US for your party, especially if Hillary Clinton were nominated in 2008. Suddenly, not only do you find yourself pregnant, but you also are told by doctors after a test of amniotic fluid (which by the way is standard for pregnant women over 40) that the child is not going to be healthy.

What do you do when you are staunchly against abortion under any circumstances? You either take the best care of yourself and live by the principles you espouse OR YOU RESORT TO EVERY OLD WIVES' TALES ABOUT CREATING A MISCARRIAGE OR STILLBIRTH! Look at the facts of this report (forgetting the possibility of a teenage daughter being pregnant):
1. You wear clothing so tight that it would constrict blood and oxygen flow to the uterus. This could include a tight girdle which would successfully conceal an expanding abdomen, and with the newer designs would allow a woman to wear her normal wardrobe.
2. You continue a pattern of heavy physical activity (skiing, running, hunting, etc.)while pregnant against doctor's orders.
3. You travel, again against doctor's orders, by air to Dallas a month before your due date, knowing that such travel will put you AND YOUR CHILD at risk of early delivery or other complications.
4. You go into labor leaking fluid, but not only do you continue at a conference where you must make a strong impression on a nearly senile old man who wants to be president, you, all the while knowing that such actions could cost your child its life, make a speech that supports your contributors' positions.
5. Even though you know you are in labor in a high risk pregnancy, you insist on going to the airport and flying back to Alaska instead of seeking medical care in a more civilized medical environment where your pre-natal abuse of a developmentally disabled child would be discovered, especially if you are still wearing the tight undergarments that would restrict contractions and possibly cause cord strangulation during labor. The fact that airline personnel did not notice you were even pregnant would support this conclusion.
6. You give birth to the child prematurely in a medical facility unsuited to meet the child's needs at birth, and when it is not only NOT STILLBORN, it survives and starts to thrive, you are forced to accept it into your life and home.
7. You return to work three days later, 45 minutes from the hospital where your newborn child is under medical care because of its health, and when you finally bring it home, you abdicate its care to nannies, or worse still, the children who are old enough to help. And this child will at least grow up knowing that you could provide for him because his siblings will have been caring for him since his birth since you wouldn't take the time for him when he needs you most.

If this woman were anyone else, she would be charged with pre-natal child abuse and child neglect. This child will have many health problems related to Downs Syndrome, yet this family oriented hypocrite would rather be on a national campaign tour, playing national political games in a national emergency over 3000 miles away where she can do virtually nothing except get in the way of those trying to help.

This woman is disgraceful and should not only be investigated for abuse of power, but also for child neglect, attempted murder of a child, and child abuse! NICE PICK FOR A WOMAN CANDIDATE, MR. McCAIN! AND TO THE REST OF THE WOMEN IN AMERICA, IF SHE IS ELECTED WITH HER FEMALE HATING BOSS, PLAN OF DOING WHAT SHE HAS DONE WHEN YOU ARE DENIED THE RIGHT TO AN ABORTION! Hope you are more successful, especially if the child is the result of incest, rape, has severe medical problems,if your life is at risk, if you are an addict or alcoholic incapable of caring for a child with an addiction or Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.

Bristol Palin pregnant -- right now Posted: Monday, September 01, 2008 11:58 AM by Mark Murray
Filed Under: 2008, Palin
From NBC's Mark Murray

Reuters: "The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

Bristol Palin, one of Alaska Gov. Palin's five children with her husband, Todd, is about five months pregnant and is going to keep the child and marry the father, the Palins said in a statement released by the campaign of Republican presidential candidate John McCain.

Bristol Palin made the decision on her own to keep the baby, McCain aides said. 'We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us,' the Palins' statement said. 'Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support,' the Palins said."

*** UPDATE *** Here's a statement the McCain camp released from Todd and Sarah Palin, which is identical to the quote in the Reuters story: "We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us. Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We're proud of Bristol's decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support."

"Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family. We ask the media to respect our daughter and Levi's privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates."

Looking at bristols picture, that can be baby fat that still hasn't gone away. Trig is only 4 months old.
Also, if she is five months pregnant, that would mean she got knocked up while she was supposedly sick with Mono.
Something is fishy in Alaska, and it's not the salmon.

If the official story is true, governor Palin isolated herself and her special needs baby from any possibility of medical care for extended periods, knowing she was in the process of giving birth to a premature baby.

The reason that this is worse than hanging the baby out of a window or holding it over a live crocodile is that at least Michael Jackson and Steve Irwin maintained some control over the situation.

Whichever story is true, this speaks volumes about Governor Palin's judgement, and that of John McCain as well.

This is outrageous! Swift boating is great to go after the adults on both sides of the political spectrum. But this BS is too low when it comes to a young lady such as Bristol - regardless of who her parents are.

If I'm Bristol's father I'm giving the author of this story a face job that no world renowned plastic surgeon could repair!

And I’m an Obama supporter, and will remain same regardless of the stupidity of these kind of trippy stories.

About this really? I mean, who cares if she was covering for her daughter's teen pregnancy or was pregnant herself? I can't see dragging her kids or her grand kids, as the case may be, into this. They are hers merely by accident of birth, they didn't ask to be born to her any more than anyone else chose their parents. Palin's political record, though brief in scope is long on where she stands politically. Surely there is plenty there to expose her for what she is?
She's another Repugnican slime attempting to continue the ruination of the only planet life like ours has ever happened on and never will again if we manage to turn the entire biosphere into a dead zone... which is exactly what continuing to burn fossil fuels and cutting down or polluting the few remaining carbon sinks the planet has left in the name of what people like Palin call "progress", will do.

from my earlier post, the press release from the mccrazy campaign means a whole herd of their folks are monitoring 'liberal blogs' probably including this one...

dna tests all around... no kidding this time!!! a public vetting that needs to be done before the rnc embarrasses itself more then it has already...

seeing that the mccrazy campaign left this gaping hole open during vetting, let's see and analyze the published track record of daughter... possibility A: 1 kid being passed off as a birth child of mom, then mono, then another kid on the way... possibility B: where did the mono come from, then pregnant now...

if this is the way governor barbie runs her family, allowing her teenage daughter to run wild while she is the bulls-eye of the state of Alaska, then do we want THIS KIND OF MOM a heartbeat from the white house???

at worst, it is an embarrassment to women in general that governor barbie puts power before the safety of her family...

ps... to those snoopers, trolls and those rnc sneaks watching 'liberal blogs'... hi johnny boy, listen up...

personally, don't vote at all, am pro choice according to your own conscience and would never put my kids or grand kids in the position you have put your family govenor barbie ... quit now while you're still ahead, go back to Alaska and face the music from your own citizens...

sure sounds like the harriet meyers fiasco part two...

I'm betting that their will be a very unfortunate "miscarrage" to blame on the media of course - but that will be how they explain away the baby weight that remains from the first
child/grandchilds birth. I thought the school records were very telling...not to mention all of the shock and awe of her staff and people closly associated.
I wouldn't want to be her daughter or her SUBJECT. This is too much for the soul to handle. Why would a Mom do this to her child - must be something to rastle with that kind of ambition.

...that during the entire 8 years Reagan served as president none of his grandchildren ever visited the White House even once.

Reagan is the orignial family values president.

Fortunately we aren't living in the 1980's, we have the net and 24 hour news cycle, I have more confidence than most in MSM.

By the time the media is done vetting Sarah I want to know what sort of toothpaste her family uses.

None of us are putting her children in glare of the media, SHE did that herself, and does it every time she trots them out as an example of what a great mom she is and another reason to vote for her!

Her oldest son is leaving for Iraq on Sept 11 and Sarah says she really doesn't have an opinion about the war, no opinion whatsoever.

This story about Trig is bad no matter how we look at it. Either the baby IS really her daughter's child, OR Sarah was irresponsible beyond any reason in both birthing and caring for a prematurely born infant with special needs.

And now a 17-year-old daughter pregnant, either for the first time or a second time, time will tell us.

Sarah won't be nominated for any mother of the year awards that is for sure.

McCain met Sarah briefly only once or twice and talked to her on the phone once, when he asked her to be his VP. Even so he said they are "kindred spirits".

Reminds me of George W. believing God told him to invade Iraq when asked by a reporter if he had sought out his own former president father for advice.

OR, when George W. vouched for Putin's character, said he looked into Putin's eyes and "could see his soul".

Did you know the diplomats sent to Iraq had little if any foreign affairs experience, or understand the complicated history of middle-eastern affairs, or the customs and culture of the region.

They had to be pro-life, that was the only criteria. Same with most if not all of the federal and state judges appointed by George W. in the past eight years. Experience or intelligence not required, pro-life is all that mattered.

McCain for his anti-torture stnce but would not consider voting for him. NEVERTHELESS, I'm appalled and disgusted by the vicious attacks on his chosen running mate over a matter that is the private business of her family.

That was my reaction to the story and the follow-up comments when it wea first posted here yesterday morning. Now it turns out that Gov. Palin's daughter WAS not pregnant--she still IS. I fear that the strongest effect of this post will be to cause revulsion against the entire Democratic Party. We should be above this kind of vicious ugliness!

Women who have been pregnant know that pregnant women look pregnant after seven months. The only exception would be for obese woman. Palin wasn't obese. During their first pregnancy, women don't show as much as the do in each progressive pregnancy. The muscles become less taut with each pregnancy even if the women exercises. Palin was supposedly pregnant for the fifth time with Trig. But Palin didn't show in her seventh month. Conclusion: Palin wasn't pregnant with Trig

Today I've been reading defenses of Palin's story about selling the jet, putting it on e-bay. She didn't actually say she sold it on e-bay.

Regarding her statement about the April baby earlier this week:
I'd like to mention that she didn't say she gave birth to Trig, she didn't say that her daughter did not give birth to trig, she just said her daughter "is about five months pregnant" now. We are to assume the latter statement proves the previous two. SLICK!

When hate is employed in politics by democrats, in this instance, it will surely backfire and make us look just as stupid as McCains's party. Just because the republicans use it doesn't make it right.

What the democrats have done is what a bull does in a china shop, they lost the high ground and wrecked an opportunity. Instead of attacking McCain and Palin on the American economy, of which they know nothing or foreign policy, they've lost the plot and the gains they were making.

In articles like this, quibbling over pregnancies or who a child belongs to is counterproductive, stupid, and leads the democrats into the Rovian trap, and into a culture war to distract voters from real issues.

Listen to Obama, stay away from the family and focus on the issues. An Obama presidency, although it will be flawed, will still be a huge difference should these two republicans clowns reach the White House. Let's not screw it up again.
