Multiple Reports: Obama Has Picked Joe Biden as VEEP

Awaiting the official announcement, of course.

Barack Obama's much-anticipated text messages announcing his running mate will go out tomorrow, but CNN reports tonight that "multiple Democratic sources confirm ... that Sen. Barack Obama has selected Sen. Joseph Biden as his vice presidential nominee," and that Biden has accepted the gig (of course).

ABC's Jake Tapper reports:

The United States Secret Service has dispatched a protective detail to assume the immediate protection of Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Del., a source tells ABC News, indicating in all likelihood that Biden has been officially notified that Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, has selected him to be his running mate.

Sources also tell ABC News that two others said to be finalists for the position of Obama's running mate -- Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Ind., and Virginia Gov Tim Kaine -- have been told they have not been selected for the vice presidential slot.

AlterNet political reporter Steve Rosenfeld points out that Biden is being mentioned everywhere.

Of course, this is the time for grand political theater, and who knows what we'll really get tomorrow. Maybe this is some elaborate head-fake.

We'll have much more on the Veep pick -- whether Joe Biden or someone else -- as soon as it becomes official.

Steve Adds ...

Sen. Joseph Biden, who has been Delaware's senator for three decades and is the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman, reportedly has been chosen to be Barack Obama's vice presidential nominee, according to the Associated Press.

The AP report, which followed speculation late night -- including by some news organizations like the Huffington Post that said Sen. Evan Bayh (D-Indiana) was the choice because Obama-Bayh bumper stickers were found being printed -- will be confirmed or rebutted on Saturday, when Obama officially announces the choice.

Whether Biden is a smart choice or not will become clear in coming days, when the Delaware lawmaker -- or perhaps another choice -- is vetted by party officials and the public. Biden is best known for his foreign policy smarts. He also has shown an ability to talk at length on virtually any topic, a curious contrast to the more cautious Democratic presidential nominee.

... well the die is cast, the rest is as it should be... theirs to loose!

Sen. Joseph Biden will be so much more responsible then what the current veep has been and still is!
He may actually return some credibility back to this office!... but maybe not...

36% rating from NARAL

That's out of 100.

Yay.

Well, at least he appears to be very proactive on birth control, which is a step up from what we've got now.

And that is probably better than Kaine, who is considered not at all pro-choice.

Still----when do we women get to be full human beings instead of breeding vessels by mandate of a bunch of white guys? 2037 c.e.? 2099? 3500? It's really damn degrading.

As you may have noticed, the MSM is already throwing wrenches into the gears - "Is Biden a good choice?" "Does Biden really work as an agent of change?" yada yada. The neo-cons have prepared for this choice and they are already sowing seeds of doubt. Biden's votes over thirty years will be picked over and examined with a microscope.

Let's not help them this time. Let's put up a united front. If we can voluntarily show some of the discipline that the right-wing has shown on candidates and issues we might just be able to pull this thing off - despite the caging lists and questionable voting machines.

Instead of lamenting over an assumed slight let's get on board the Obama-Biden Express and ride it to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Talk it up, look at the good side, get people registered to vote, display a bumper sticker.

If we lose this election - by hook or crook - we lose our nation to theives and ideologues and corporate crooks who will complete the bankrupting of our treasury and finish shredding our Constitution.

It may not be the Dream Ticket that you hoped for, but it's a hellava lot better than an extension of the Bush regime. And these two can be influenced to concentrate on a real progressive agenda. Let's give them as much help as we can to counter the onslaught of propaganda that we know is coming.

Although my earlier posts may show that I have disdain towards Biden, the truth is that Biden (of course with Obama and the rest of the Democratic congress) will do more to reduce abortions by making contraceptive easier to obtain and to have medication readily available to stop the egg from fertilization.

So abortions will go down because not only will people have more solutions, but they will be better off anyways. A liberal environment will cause stress to go down amongst society.

People will also be having some kind of universal health-care (hopefully). So someone with cancer won't have to worry about being refused treatment.

Their will be more jobs as small businesses will begin to crop up and wrestle out the monolithic corporations that have blighted this country (and the world) and destroyed communities, families, and lives. Towns, and communities will be run by the people instead of a corporation.

And a message that really needs to get out to the public is that sportsmen will have to worry less about losing their hunting grounds to a no-bid contract to build some shit-stain in the middle of nature.

Sportsmen can also rest easy that their sport will always be healthy as Democrats and liberals have a strong social desire to keep the countryside alive and well with ecological programs, which many times condones hunting, but rarely do not condone.

Sportsmen should love liberals, they thrive to keep their playgrounds alive and well (And they let them know when it might be a good idea to slow down on the sport so the sport will be around next year). It's like a perfect team.

Obama is facing a challenge to his Constitutional eligibility to serve

A lawyer who supports Hillary filed suit in federal court in Pennsylvania Thursday. It seeks an injunction to stop Obama from "continuing his candidacy" on the grounds he is not a US citizen.

This lawyer says he had 3 forensic experts look at Obama's Hawaii birth certificate and the result is that it is a forgery. So he may have been born in Kenya. In that case because his mother was a US citizen, he would be too. However, the laws at the time stated the mother must be over 19 years old. His mother was 18. The suit says that means he is not a US citizen. It asks the court to stop him from running.

I could not find this anywhere in MSM (press blackout until after the Biden announcement?).

Here's the link to the Canada site:

GlobalResearch.ca

It's also on many right-wing blogs.

Will they drop this bomb before or during the convention?
