POW, Former Classmate Exposes the Real McCain

He should have some fun with his newfound not-stardom, with all the not-appearing on news programs and not-being cited in the print media.

Fellow Naval Academy classmate and POW of John McCain Phillip Butler is saying the Great Unmentionable.

John was a wild man. He was funny, with a quick wit and he was intelligent. But he was intent on breaking every USNA regulation in our 4 inch thick USNA Regulations book. And I believe he must have come as close to his goal as any midshipman who ever attended the Academy. John had me "coming around" to his room frequently during my plebe year. And on one occasion he took me with him to escape "over the wall" in the dead of night. He had a taxi cab waiting for us that took us to a bar some 7 miles away. John had a few beers, but forbid me to drink (watching out for me I guess) and made me drink cokes. I could tell many other midshipman stories about John that year and he unbelievably managed to graduate though he spent the majority of his first class year on restriction for the stuff he did get caught doing. In fact he barely managed to graduate, standing 5th from the bottom of his 800 man graduating class. I and many others have speculated that the main reason he did graduate was because his father was an Admiral, and also his grandfather, both U.S. Naval Academy graduates

[...]

John was awarded a Silver Star and Purple Heart for heroism and wounds in combat. This heroism has been played up in the press and in his various political campaigns. But it should be known that there were approximately 600 military POW's in Vietnam. Among all of us, decorations awarded have recently been totaled to the following: Medals of Honor - 8, Service Crosses - 42, Silver Stars - 590, Bronze Stars - 958 and Purple Hearts - 1,249. John certainly performed courageously and well. But it must be remembered that he was one hero among many - not uniquely so as his campaigns would have people believe.

I furthermore believe that having been a POW is no special qualification for being President of the United States. The two jobs are not the same, and POW experience is not, in my opinion, something I would look for in a presidential candidate.

Most of us who survived that experience are now in our late 60's and 70's. Sadly, we have died and are dying off at a greater rate than our non-POW contemporaries. We experienced injuries and malnutrition that are coming home to roost. So I believe John's age (73) and survival expectation are not good for being elected to serve as our President for 4 or more years.

I can verify that John has an infamous reputation for being a hot head. He has a quick and explosive temper that many have experienced first hand. Folks, quite honestly that is not the finger I want next to that red button.

It is also disappointing to see him take on and support Bush's war in Iraq, even stating we might be there for another 100 years. For me John represents the entrenched and bankrupt policies of Washington-as-usual. The past 7 years have proven to be disastrous for our country. And I believe John's views on war, foreign policy, economics, environment, health care, education, national infrastructure and other important areas are much the same as those of the Bush administration.
Wow. It's stunning to see someone who knows McCain lay this all out so specifically. And he hits everything -- the age, the temper, the flyboy antics, the policies right in line with Bush. It's all there.

He should have some fun with his newfound not-stardom, with all the not-appearing on news programs and not-being cited in the print media.

Digg!

There's nothing new here and McCain has never denied his past conduct. Like Bush, he never played by the rules and still doesn't. He got by on the strength of an infuential family, never an over achiever. Not even average as a student. I don't believe that the White House is the place to "grow up". He's being put there so the same regime can retain its power and call all the shots. John will do as he's told. Thanks, ANNA

The pertinent question is, what can we do to get this VERY IMPORTANT story from military.com (a source conservatives would respect) into the mainstream reporting???

Phone calls? Letters? Diggs?

Alternet or Salon or some other outlet should push this story HARD!!!

Please Capt. Straight Talk (ret) release your naval records just like John Kerry did. Then we can see if we trust your judgement! A little some about three or four plane crashes might be interesting.

It sounds like this man must of not accomplished much..an article of one minuete fame.
Shame on him, but I guess there must be much to be jealous about! McCain may be our next president and I don't think he will be much of the same as bush..he has always done his own thing and one point we must all realize about McCain is that he is a Real All American who loves his country and has not mengled and befriended any associaites that are Radical Racist anti-American like his Oponent! Who will be a risk to our country with the lack of experience that is scary!
I am a democrat that would have voted for Hillary for I believe she was the best one for America, but will now vote for McCain, who I have always thoought was and is a good man!

try the McCain's tax returns. I have lived in Arizona for nearly 30 years, and I can tell you that the way that this couple is filing its tax returns is questionable.

For example, I am a second wife (although older than my husband and certainly not rich by anyone's standards). We are not allowed under Arizona Community Property laws and tax laws to file separate tax returns in the state because we share the same home, acknowledge we are married, and are not divorcing, and we are required to file what is called an Injured Spouse IRS return each year, which divides out our joint income 50/50 to determine tax liabilities, and prevents me from being responsible for his child support requirements. In neither instance are you allowed to file married, filing separated, unless you are legally separated or divorcing and not co-habitating.

So in essence, under Arizona and IRS tax regs., the McCains have been filing false tax returns for years to protect John McCain from having to pay a legitimate spousal maintenance to his ex-wife by making it seem that he does not have access to his wife's money. This kind of tax filing is done to evade spousal maintenance payments that would run into the tens of thousands dollars if Carol McCain ever wanted to pursue it, and it is the only reason, unless this marriage is a sham and they are not living together as husband and wife, are divorcing or are legally separated, in which case there is no marriage here.

Take your pick - deadbeat husband avoiding spousal maintenance for a crippled wife or a marital and tax fraud who wants to be elected on his honesty and his stand on women's interests (HA!). Either way, if you are stupid enough to elect this piece of garbage President, you deserve everything you will get!

Personally, I want a leader who treats people well and with respect; respects our laws and abides by the same ones the rest of us do; and finally, someone who has a functional brain, not a hot temper and moral compass that always points to Hell!

We should not try arguing McCain is another Bush. He's not-
1. POW not Tx national guard
2 not an oil man-long Congressional career
3 not stupid
BUT
1. bad temper & not a maverick anymore
2 adultry while not separated wife #1
3 in bed with lobbying groups in the early 1980's

Fits the mold! Yes, a continuation of the "same ol' Goose-step!" In order to continue Global Domination, you have to install another "Village Idiot," that will do the bidding, without conscience.

I believe that McCain is "damaged goods," and not a very good choice for the difficult economic times ahead. I have listened to many of McCain's speeches and all I hear is "military, military, military!" We as a Nation need to mobilize as we did in the 40's to become the dominant power in the world at the time. We need to do the same with our economy.

In my mind, I believe We need to marshall all of the bright minds and talent that we can muster, to transition this country in to renewable, clean green energy. We have the technology, now, and have the greatest opportunity in history, to integrate new clean, renewable power generating technologies into the mainstream for the benefit of all, today, and future generations.

We do not need another "Mind Controlled," President! Nor do we need another "wrecking ball" like "DICK!"

anymore who isn't just a privileged, pampered little legacy playboy fratrat type in this office. I guess this is what the corporatocracy wants...and what they want, they get. Keeps them free to run roughshod over the middle class with absolutely NO accountability to anyone but a bunch of fatcats. Bush and McCain are both dumber than dirt, but it looks like we're stuck with them.

What's next? Oh...I forgot about JEB.

Bringing back the draft might be the end of the old guy. We are not interested in going to war anytime soon and hopefully his numbers will tank with the "draft" comments.

The paragraph I found most disturbing concerned the age and survival issue of POW`s

Dose the US want a man who is getting towards the end of his journey in life?

Greetings,
I don't recall where it was I read this, maybe here, but I only heard about this Cindy McCain prescription drug thievery yesterday, although I am still unaware of the date that she stole these drugs. . .

I just chuckle at the NON issue the Saddleback Church lie instantly became. NOBODY IS BRING THAT UP! Here we have the most prominent religious speaker of our day perpetrating a lie about this phony "cone of silence," that Pastor Rick Warren referred to as being, apparently this place somewhere in the bowels of the church, where McCain was supposedly sequestered for the entire time of Obama's Q&A. Well, this turned out to be a bald-faced lie! The truth of the matter is that for only about 50% of Obama's time on stage was McCain actually in the building, The John McCain Show was in a car somewhere probably lost on their way to "The Cone of Silence," but he arrived late, and never made it into the 20mm machine cannon impregnable, sound-deadened, pitch-black, anti-gravity CONE of silence, in reality McCain only made it so far as the "Green Room." Of course, none of this was ever supposed to get out, or else Rick and McCain would've surely just been truthful right up front. These guy's never think that anybody is going to catch them in an lie! This just another example of McCain playing fast and loose with the truth, and I am just surprised Pastor Rick would do the same as McCain and carry forward a lie. >>> Fast Forward>>>

Andrea Mitchell was close to this story began to collect comments and data, becoming familiar with everything. .. Then, as good reporter's will do they ask question's, and it is the right question that always makes them squirm. Andrea Mitchell upon hearing about this brew-ha-ha asked in a rhetorical manner if, being in the car McCain would've had the opportunity to listen to the question and answer session on the radio, and after being seated in the green room if McCain had access to a television set? If you were unaware, she was attacked by one of those right winged lizard skin hackhead's who compared Andrea Mitchell to Adolph Hitler's propaganda minister Josef Gerbals for suggesting that McCain would do such a thing! What a jerk that guy is, I would've responded to the guy with, "you mean the John McCain who cheated on his then wife, and the John McCain of the Keating 5? Are you talking about THAT GUY'S honor? What honor. ..

Senator McCain, how many homes do you have? Let's see, ah. . . 4, or more, let me ask Cindy?

Read the McCain story about his TOTAL number of homes, below.

www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/ 08/21/mccain-doesnt-know-how-ma_n_120322.html

I'm not believing this, either McCain is embarrassed to say how many homes he and Cindy have, or he doesn't want to know. .. This is going to pull skin off of McCain's ass for a long, long time!
