Global Warming Deniers Cancel Meeting Due to Tropical Storm Fay

Global warming intensifies tropical storms and, apparently, irony.

This week, Americans for Prosperity (AFP) planned to have town hall meetings in Ft. Myers and West Palm Beach, FL. As the Wonk Room's Brad Johnson notes, "AFP is a front group for the right-wing pollution company Koch Industries, with an agenda of attacking 'global warming alarmism' and promoting increased offshore drilling." In an ironic twist, AFP has canceled its meetings because of Tropical Storm Fay. From a message on the group's website:

Ft. Myers and West Palm Beach Town Hall Meetings Rescheduled

The August 19th Ft. Myers town hall and August 21st West Palm Beach town hall will be rescheduled as a result of Tropical Storm Fay. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Since the year of Katrina, we have had no major storms and Fay was not much of one. So, by YOUR ereasoning, this must mean global warming isn't really happening. Case closed.

So there were no tropical storms before humanity started adding greenhouse gases to those already generated by nature?

Some stretches for a connection are better left unsaid.

but that still does not mean there is not GLOBAL WARMING. And the world is full of fools with their heads in the sand. What is this world going to be for our grandkids and great-grandkids? A bleak desert?

ever recorded. My wife, who pays little attention to politics, said quite seriously, "...and there are people who don't believe in global warming?" Yes, the weather shows it.

Some years ago when we first started discussing the matter of global warming I had a flying buddy that was doing a physics PhD at Cal Tech. I just ask him. What is the scuttle butt at Cal Tech. He said, "The statistics show that weather is becoming more extreme." He explained that when it is wet, it is wetter, when it is dry, it is dryer, when it is hot, it is hotter, and when it is cold, it is colder. I think that everything supports his statistics. That implies more hurricanes, more tornados, more of everything extreme. Those are the breaks.

Most people reading Alternet are not scientists. Even for Alternet readers who follow science news it's not easy to notice when you are being manipulated. Please look at the following site for a critical look at the IPCC and the global warming scientific deceptions. It's a blog from a respected climate scientist.
