Obama Speaks the Truth to a Child, Right-Wingers Go Bananas

The Right-wing media is in a tizzy over Obama's truthful comment.

Fox News: 'McCain's TV Commercials Contain ... Out-Right Lies'
Steve Benen Washington Monthly

Somebody must have had to fetch a double dose of smelling salts for Hot Air's Ed Morrissey -- he's freaking out (as are others on the right) over a campaign clip in which Barack Obama tells a child at a campaign appearance,

America is ... , uh, is no longer, uh ... what it could be, what it once was. And I say to myself, I don't want that future for my children.

Watch it:

Er, kids? If it's not permissible to say that America is less great at some moments than it is at other moments, then I guess the guy on this 1980 campaign button is a big fat commie:

This one, too.

Yup, Reagan said we had to make America great again. That meant that, in 1980, he didn't think America was great.

Filthy America-basher. (And I hear he was from Hollywood, too.)

UPDATE: I see that Limbaugh is whining about this now. Meanwhile, I go over to Amazon and someone who calls himself "Long-Time Rush Limbaugh Fan" is recommending a Dittohead reading list that includes such titles as Men in Black: How the Supreme Court Is Destroying America and Slouching Towards Gomorrah: Modern Liberalism and American Decline. See, right-wingers are allowed to talk all they want about an America being "destroyed" or being in "decline" -- no patriotism questions there! Well, righties, Barack Obama reserves the same right. The only difference is, he says it's your side's fault. Oh, one other difference: he's right.

Is Palin a Step Backwards for Women in Power?
Sarah Palin is a milestone, for we achieve true gender equality when an incompetent woman goes as far as an incompetent man.

Right Wing Campaign Hypocrisy

Please keep on revealing the hypocrisy. This electorate can not see it for themselves. The Republicans talk this nonsense because it works with a significant proportion of the voters. When they are allowed to pound this stuff repetitiously without effective rebuttal, they convince more voters. Thank you.

We are not what we once were. Can we get it back? Yes. It's not up to a president and congress and the usual suspects. Americans have to wake up and realize that we can't allow politicians to decide when or if we can see a doctor, who's child goes to college, piss away our Social Security, start wars and tell us to shut up if we object. Somehow before everyone got so smart they lived a much better life. We'll have a new president in November but we need a new improved attitude. ANNA

Focus on your congressman or woman. I'm on to mine, she is a war criminal, DLC and Blue Dog. Here is her page in Congresspedia and a blog spot most recent post over a year old, yeah that's fresh. Here it is, I am left underwhelmed.

Washington Post front-page story
It is great to see the Democratic Party having a debate about how we can optimize our position in DC. At the heart of the debate is making sure we can have the best representatives possible. In CA-10, we have a Representative who is out of line with her district, but the discussion we are now having will be a win for the district.

The voters deserve a choice and the process of democracy is a win for the voters. If the process makes Tauscher a better representative, it is a win. If the voters choose somebody who they think can do better, it is a win. Even having this debate is a win.

No matter what, I don't think we'll see Tauscher standing behind the Bush any longer, which is a win.

Yeah right Ellen, we are really 'winning'. She is big into 'security' like spying on average citizens, people like me. It sucks, Ellen, it is unconstitutional for VERY good reasons.

.....who said the Men in Black are wrecking the U.S. They damn near finished us off when they appointed the Imbecile-in-Chief to the presidency. Nothing the Five Stooges ever do will make up for that. Make that Three (remaining) Stooges - one's dead (maybe there is a god!). Another is retired and should be exiled to Antarctica for the rest of her treasonous life. The Two Main Stooges should simply be given a trial and found guilty, or just locked up in Guantanamo for 20 years.

A President with young children is your best hope

At this critical moment, for global Civilisation, the next President will impact the lives of children world-wide. A President with young children will have a vested interest in creating a better America and a better world. A much older President will not be around long enough to witness the damage wreaked in the name of short-sighted goals.
