James Dobson, proud owner of a  weiner and beater of weiner dogs, is having second thoughts about marginalizing himself this political season:

Conservative Christian leader James Dobson has softened his stance against Republican presidential hopeful John McCain, saying he could reverse his position and endorse the Arizona senator despite serious misgivings.

"I never thought I would hear myself saying this," Dobson said in a radio broadcast to air Monday. "... While I am not endorsing Senator John McCain, the possibility is there that I might."
Oooooo. We are all shivering with antici.....pation, you big tease.

"There's nothing dishonorable in a person rethinking his or her positions, especially in a constantly changing political context," Dobson said in a statement to the AP. "Barack Obama contradicts and threatens everything I believe about the institution of the family and what is best for the nation. His radical positions on life, marriage and national security force me to reevaluate the candidacy of our only other choice, John McCain."
Far be it for me to point out that there is also Bob Barr; if Dr. Jim can forgive him his adulterous ways just as easily as he appears to be forgiving reports of John McCain's.

But... but didn't Dr. Jim once say:

Dobson, one of the nation’s most influential evangelical Christians, declared more than a year ago that he wouldn't support McCain under any circumstances, saying McCain didn't support traditional marriage values.

A Dobson spokesman told the New York Times’ David Kirkpatrick Wednesday that he stood by that position, and as a matter of conscience could never vote for the Arizona Senator.
Well, as they say at Bible Weekend Retreat : Commandments are made to be broken, so who wants to adulter with me?

So what does Jimbo have to say for himself?:

Dobson said on the radio program he must consider McCain's record against abortion rights and support for smaller government, and added McCain "seems to understand the Muslim threat." He also indicated McCain's choice of a running mate will be a factor.

Of his new position, Dobson said in the statement to the AP, "If that is a flip-flop, then so be it."
Or, as is says in the Good Book:

James 5:12 But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation... unless, you know, you change your mind or something. Now who's up for stoning some harlots? Anyone? Anyone?

Digg!
