Toady, Karl Rove was set to appear under subpoena before the House Judiciary Committee to discuss the politicization of the Justice Department. Yesterday, Rove’s lawyer wrote a letter declaring Rove would not testify, citing executive privilege:

Mr Rove will respectfully decline to appear on July 10 on the grounds that as a close advisor to the President, whose testimony is sought in connection with his official duties in that capacity, he is immune from compelled Congressional testimony.

After Rove proved to be a no-show today, the panel voted 7-1 to rule that Rove’s claims of immunity under executive privilege are invalid.

I really respect all the work Senator Henry Waxman has done in reference to calling the Bush Administration on their lies and manipulations, but if he has a card up his sleeve, it's about time he played it because with a majority of Democrats fellating the President over FISA, I get the feeling that most Republicans, with good reason, don't lose any sleep over the actions of their Democratic counterparts.

Prove them, and me, wrong, Senator Waxman.

Will Rove Call Pelosi's Bluff?

From the wires:

"A decision on whether to pursue contempt charges now goes to the full Judiciary Committee and ultimately to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi...

The House already has voted to hold two of President Bush's confidants in contempt... The case, involving White House chief of staff Josh Bolten and former White House counsel Harriet Miers, is in federal court and may not be resolved before Bush's term ends in January."

I think this is why Pelosi is suddenly putting impeachment on the table - it's just a bluff to try and make Rove testify.

So will Rove call her on the bluff, or not? And if he does, will she follow through with impeachment?

(HINT: I wouldn't put money on it if I were you).

He is above the law.

They aren't going to just give the power back to the people. We're going to have to take it back. They've stacked the courts with judges who support keeping the power with the money. "Conservative" = pro-corporation = anti-people.
