John McCain Pledges to Either Torture, or Not Torture

Posted by Booman, Booman Tribune at 7:31 AM on July 1, 2008.

Candidate may have accused president of torture, or pledged to torture. No one cares.

John McCain sticks his foot in his mouth in an interview with the Orange County Register:

MARTIN WISCKOL: When was the last time you pumped your own gas and how much did it cost?
JOHN McCAIN: Oh, I don’t remember. Now there’s Secret Service protection. But I’ve done it for many, many years. I don’t recall and frankly, I don’t see how it matters.
I’ve had hundreds and hundreds of town hall meetings, many as short a time ago as yesterday. I communicate with the people and they communicate with me very effectively

(Via folo.)

I thought John McCain was pushing a summer gas tax holiday. I guess someone just told him to propose that without informing him that gasoline is edging towards $5 a gallon. Who's the out of touch elitist now, Karl Rove?

Kind of a gotcha moment that will haunt McCain throughout the rest of the campaign. But I actually found this next part more interesting.
MARTIN WISCKOL: Next one from a voter: What will make you different from George W. Bush?
JOHN McCAIN: My vision for America.
MARTIN WISCKOL: Name a couple specific things that will distinguish you.
JOHN McCAIN: Climate change. Spending. The torture of prisoners. There are numerous other issues that we’ve been in disagreement on in the past. Spending is one of the fundamental one. Torture of prisoners. Addressing climate change effectively. Just to name a few.

John McCain is going around glibbly accusing the President of the United States and the leader of his own party of torturing prisoners. And the story that everyone focuses on is the price of gas. Modern America, ladies and gentleman, where the discourse isn't just debased, it's immoral.

Digg!

What has become of America? (On second thought, probably nothing--sameoldsameold.) And why do we have to believe McSwine was tortured? Just because he says he was? And, in any case, if he was tortured, it was probably nothing worse than a college hazing-- (and he deserved whatever he got--)

The dems are pretty incompetent, but surely they can't miss the opportunity here. All they have to do is show this picture over and over and over, everywhere they can. It can't miss.

BURDEN OF PROOF

POINT OF FACT.

John Sidney McCain III must prove that the injuries sustained when his plane fell into a Vietnamese lake that one of the noble human beings that McCain and others were trying to kill jumped in and pulled him out of are not the very same injuries that John McCain and blind, emotional americans have assigned to brutal torture for 40 years. John McCain - War Hero. Then sometimes he admits he broke and gave up information to his captors.

No one has ill feelings towards McCain for being a POW or his conduct while in captivity.

The great sign of his corrupt proclivity shows up in John Sidney McCain III's deep seated need to LIE and this nauseating WAR HERO branding.

Fact. John McCain was 10,000 miles away from America destroying property and human beings. His shoulder, arms and legs were broken in a plane crash. What did the Vietnamese captors have to do but nurse him to health, and keep him alive. He spent 5 years in jail. So did many other U.S. POWs who are not qualified to be president of the USA. I talked with a young man two days ago who spent 10 years in prison. He is not presidential.

I am a veteran. Paratropper. Infantry. Been shot at. I ain't good for the office of U.S. president either.

As active duty military. We follow orders.

Let us puleeeeeze put this urban myth of false heroism to rest...please?

And lets quit capitulating to the ultra right and their foolishness for the sake of making the election of excellent Barack Obama to the office of POTUS over mediocre John McCain appear to be a close race and not the landslide it is destined to be.

Just the facts.

As an honourable discharged combat veteran... Just the facts, and I dare say it.

Being mediorce and overprivileged all of his 72 years, getting shot down in an airplane, being rescued and sitting out the war in prison, ditching his wife and mother of his children, hooking up with a richer, younger, better looking woman and getting into the U.S. Senate and hooking up with lobbyists does not qualify John McCain to be War Hero or the 44th President of the USA.

Come on, say it with me - you'll feel better and stronger and more alive and sane each time you state the facts. Getting shot down and captured does not a hero make or qualify to be president of the USA or the PTA. Explode the myth that John McCain is a War hero or qualified to be POTUS.

I am a veteran.
My son is a veteran.
John McCain voted for Torture and against the Latest GI BILL.

George Bush lied on camera and said John McCain helped pass the Bill. Break free from the lies.
