In an explosive new memoir, former White House press secretary Scott McClellan writes that the Bush administration engaged in a “political propaganda campaign” to sell the Iraq war and that it misled him on the Valerie Plame scandal. Today, White House spokeswoman Dana Perino slammed McClellan today as a “disgruntled” employee; former press secretary Ari Fleischer said he was “heartbroken.”

Other former White House officials started the smear campaign last night. Karl Rove, interviewed on Hannity and Colmes, asserted that McClellan sounded more like “a left-wing blogger” than himself. Former Homeland Security adviser Frances Townsend, interviewed on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, called McClellan “self-serving” and “disingenuous.”

McClellan is experiencing the same automatic smear response the White House deploys against former allies who dare to criticize the administration, including former Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan or former head of faith-based initiatives John DiIulio. Some other lowlights:

Former Treasury Secretary Paul O’Neill

WROTE: Bush planned in invade Iraq before 9/11 and was like a blind man in a roomful of deaf people” during Cabinet meetings.

SMEAR: “We didn’t listen to [O’Neill’s] wacky ideas when he was in the White House, why should we start listening to him now?” — A senior official who informed Bush of O’Neill’s comments, 1/12/04

Former Campaign Chief Strategist Matthew Dowd

SAID: Bush has “become more, in my view, secluded and bubbled in”; that “our leaders have to understand what they [the American public] want. They’re saying, ‘Get out of Iraq.’”

SMEAR: “He’s going through a lot of personal turmoil but also he has a son who is soon to be deployed to Iraq. That could only impact a parents’ mind as they think through these issues.” — Dan Bartlett, 4/1/07

Former Counter-Terrorism Chief Richard Clarke

WROTE: Bush “ignored terrorism for months”; sought to tie 9/11 to Iraq immediately.

SMEAR: “He wanted to be the deputy secretary of the Homeland Security Department after it was created. … He did not get that position, someone else was appointed to it. … His best friend is Rand Beers, who is the principal advisor to the Kerry campaign.” — Scott McClellan, while serving as press secretary, 3/22/04

According to the Politico, a “former colleague” said of McClellan: “It looks like a fairly pathetic attempt to restore his reputation by junking the only positive attribute people saw in him — loyalty.”

Repugs figure that if you are anywhere even close to the left of Attila the Hun, you must be a democratic person. And they are trying deperately to turn any philosophy of truth-telling into a major crime.

NOW it is time to turn our Attention On Congress. We have ALL Known this crap for years. Anyone who refused to be 'hooked up' to this 'collective' knew it was ALL BS as soon as the top Drone W said "They hate US for our Freedoms". Which then they immediately and systematically began taking away from US. 9/11 was an attack on the MIC, Our citizens were used as Human Shields (thinking No one would dare strike on OUR soil). The MIC Placed US in Harms Way, and have been doing so for Decades. We did not Need a Movie either regarding the 'Recount' to know they STOLE they election. So Now we Must turn our EYES on Congress and SCOTUS....Pick Which side of 'vs' you all will be On!!!

Doesn't the Whitewash House version of any story lose credibility, since every single time its loyalists have been put on point about a specific, it's "I forget", "I don't recall", "I cannot remember at this time" ... how the hell do they remember what McClellan was like?

Right-"Wing" and Left-"wing" really mean. You know last time I checked(within the last 20 seconds) neither my right side nor my left side had developed any wings! I still can't fly just like the day I was born. Or is this a reference to penguin wings?

I actually wish they did because then I could do away with airline travel. No worry about terrorists or Government screening. What with flying on my own the government would not screen me for bombs. After all if the terrorists managed to sneak a bomb up my ass the only thing getting blown up is me and a pile of crap. If you happen to dislike my views then I am sure just the pile of crap will get blown up!

So when did my conservative views develop wings? And when did my progressive views also develop these nefarious "wings"?

Since I hold both types of views what exactly does that make me? Come on, I am sure you can make up a name to call me because you haven't got a shred of evidence to disprove what I say!
How about mid-wing? how does that sound? Or maybe confused-wing because we all know that you cannot hold both conservative and progressive views at the same time. The government tells me I will self destruct and side with terrorists for my progressive views but when I espouse conservative views I am one of their buddies?

Ok there it is I am bi-wing. Yeah that's the ticket! With that they can use the obscure reference to bi-sexuality to call my sexuality into question when they haven't got an argument to fight back with.

Yet another person that didn't speak up earlier and try to tell the truth about this Mis-Administration. I recall seeing him during press conferences and he was quite arrogant as he was parroting the party line. Why tell now - it's not as though those of us with a brain and a clue really believed the lies they were spewing, its just that the rest of the sleeping population that wanted to believe the B.S. are finally waking up and yet they want to pretend shock!!! The nerve. I think the whole cabal needs to be tried for Treason, High Crimes and Misdemeanors, and Mr. McClellen needs to be on that line right along with the rest of them.

What a bad picture!
Don't get upset, it's not a major disaster.
There's nothing on tonight, she said, I don't know what's the matter?
Nothing's ever on he said, so I don't know why you bother.

It's better to be a left wing blogger than a war criminal mass murderer.
