McCain Spiritual Guide Accused Govt. of Enabling 'Black Genocide'

Posted by Sam Stein, Huffington Post at 11:18 AM on March 21, 2008.

This past week, Sen. Barack Obama's pastor, Reverend Jeremiah Wright, has taken an exceptional amount of heat in part for comments that suggested the U.S. government had introduced AIDS into black communities.

But it turns out he's not the only religious confidant to a presidential candidate who thinks the state has targeted black populations with death and disease.

Reverend Rod Parsley of the World Harvest Church of Columbus, Ohio -- whom Sen. John McCain hailed as a spiritual adviser -- has suggested on several occasions that the U.S. government was complicit in facilitating black genocide.

In speeches that have gone largely unnoticed, Parsley (who is white) compares Planned Parenthood, the reproductive care and family planning group, to the Klu Klux Klan and Nazis, and describes the American government as enablers of murder for supporting the organization.

"If I were call for the sterilization or the elimination of an entire segment of society, I'd be labeled a racist or a murderer, or at very best a Nazi," says Parsley. "That every single year, millions of our tax dollars are funding a national organization built upon that very goal -- their target: African Americans. That's right, the death toll: nearly fifteen hundred African Americans a day. The shocking truth of black genocide."

He goes on.

"Right now our own government is allowing organizations like Planned Parenthood to legally take the innocent lives of precious baby girls and baby boys and even footing the bill for it all with our tax dollars, turning every single one of us into accessories to murder," he says. "You know who their biggest fans must be, that must be the Klu Klux Klan, because the woman who founded this organization detested black people.... African Americans were number one on Margaret Sanger's list. So this 'Lady MacDeath,' as I like to call her, studied the works of Englishman Thomas Robert Malthus, and embraced his plan of eugenics."

Unlike Wright's statements, Parsley's are more accepted in conservative circles, in which a strict anti-abortion sentiment is not only tolerated, but applauded. Moreover, as a white pastor expressing anger on behalf of black populations, Parsley's testimony may come off as more sympathetic and less conspiratorial than Wright's.

However, there are issues with Parsley's stats. While black populations in America do have higher abortion rates than white populations, there are far more abortions among white mothers than among blacks. Meanwhile, Sanger, who founded the American Birth Control League (which eventually became Planned Parenthood), was an advocate of both birth control and eugenics. And while she did not publicly denounce Nazi Germany's eugenics program, privately she expressed deep concern.

This is the second time that controversial remarks by Parsley have surfaced on the campaign trail. Last week, David Corn of Mother Jones reported that the televangelist "called upon Christians to wage a 'war' against the 'false religion' of Islam with the aim of destroying it."

The relationship between Parsley and McCain is, to be sure, far less personal -- and more political -- than that of Obama and Wright. In late February, McCain attended a rally in Cincinnati, in which the Arizona Republican was praised as a "strong, true, consistent conservative."

The endorsement, Corn writes:

... was important for McCain, who at the time was trying to put an end to the lingering challenge from former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, a favorite among Christian evangelicals. A politically influential figure in Ohio, Parsley could also play a key role in McCain's effort to win this bellwether state in the general election. McCain, with Parsley by his side at the Cincinnati rally, called the evangelical minister a "spiritual guide.'

Isn't there a limit to free-speech when it reaches the level of recommending violence against an identifiable group based on their race, religion, creed, sex, etc.? How much clearer could it be than this?

that "fox and friends" who were getting off on Obamas "typical white" comment on the posted video one back on this page, were saying 30's, 60's and now are totally different racial experiences in the USA. bullshit.

was only a few years ago clansmen tied a guy to a bumper and dragged him down the road until he was dismembered.

This piece of garbage speaking here, should not have tax free status for his "church"...

No one will say a thing.

They'll drag Obama and even his wife through the mud and accuse them of being "anti-American", but this man is far worse.

What's even sadder is that he's also a part of the same group that wants white women to have more children because of the fear of whites being the minority, so why would he or any of those wing-nuts be concerned about the number of abortions in the black community?

Can you say "apologetics" for racists? Parsley seems to be tarring everyone else with his own racist opinions.

Women want and need to control the size of their families. Men who have set up their own confidence businesses like many fundamentalists have done (by establishing a stand-alone congregation) are anxious to clean up their image as the merely greedy types they really are. Stories about race hatred to clean up the sexism of certain religions is an obviously contrived way to put the blame somewhere else- like on the victim herself.

Their clay feet are really obvious.
A POX on all their houses!

Start watching at 3min 21sec into the video. Next to Barack's speech, Mike's response has been the best I have heard so far on the national stage. It applies to both the Jeremiah Wright issue as well articles like this one.

In a similar way to the whole Jeremiah Wright issue, this article is guilty of distorting what has been said to achieve some ends. I recommend denouncing Jeremiah, Rod and others for any form of unjustifiable discrimination, slander, sophism, excessive hate, etc., without demonizing the individuals, but rather by discussing (or otherwise drawing attention to) the underlying issues as well as the bad communication practices.

Sincerely,
Aouie

A Lonely World

While it's undoubtedly true that white evangelicals get a free ride, I also think it's time to stop holding candidates personally accountable for every word and action of every high-profile supporter or associate. Scalia is a devout Catholic, but he disagrees with the Pope on the war, torture, social and economic justice and other important issues. Nobody is calling on him to renounce his faith. McCain's Episcopal Church goes even further, supporting abortion and gay rights. The same is true of Bush's United Methodist Church. Not every member toes the church leadership's line on every issue.

Furthermore, if Wright's most inflammatory rhetoric is what we've seen on TV and excerpted in print is the most egregious, as I'm sure it is, it's hard to find fault with what he says. His real offense seems to be honesty.

While I would not support a candidate who belongs to a patently racist, antisemitic, treasonous or criminal organization, I recognize that within all groups there is diversity of opinion. If there weren't, it would be a pretty lonely world.

Keep up the good work, AlterNet, in exposing the insanities of that Columbus Ohio maniac, Rod Parsley. The next step is to somehow shoehorn the news into the mainstream press and TV. That will, of course, be very difficult to achieve since Parsley is "advisor", to
McCain, the current darling of the media. But if Parsley continues with his diatribes and they achieve new heights of insanity, his ego may outdistance his desire to steer McCain and break into the open where anyone listening or reading will see what a whacko McCain has invited to his party. So keep plugging away, AlterNet. In this case bad news from Parsley is good news.

Women are having abortions ... SEND ME MONEY!! LOL!! What is sending money to this guy going to do about it. What a crock!!
If you equate freedom of choice with womens rights you will see clearly that this guy and many religious freaks like him just see women as lesser beings, meant to bear children (soldiers) for their master (husband.)
Anywhere you go where womans rights have improved you see lower infant mortality rates and fewer children. More babies means more potential soldiers and they know it.

A Black preacher emotes over REAL oppression of the Black people by white society and this is not only dangerous to our nation, but rubs off on the attendees, including Barack Obama as well, while white nutcases can spew the worst sort of goofy noises while endorsing a presidential candidate ( Remember the First Amendment, folks?)with perfect impunity. Is this the way our country operates? If it is, it SUCKS.

the Planned Parenthood legislation, and eugenics was a policy for many years, not just on blacks, but on Native Americans who weren't even informed what was going on. They'd go to a clinic because they were sick, and then were sterilized without their permission or knowledge. This also happened to people who were not considered to be fit to support themselves or had lower mental capacity. Just Google George Bush, eugenics, planned parenthood.

Someone is systematically always trying to mention Nazis before the pilgrims, slave-masters and presidents. I guess it's all who controls the "holocaust industry."

These Ethnociders killed way more people than the Nazis did--without warning! The Nazis (and Adolf) gave advanced warning of their intentions.

Good ole Planned Parenthood

OK retards

A little history.

Planned Parenthood was founded by a women named Margaret Sanger in the early part of the past century for the express purpose of limiting and ultimately eliminating the breeding of negroes and other undesirable races.

As an avowed racist, Maggie and her ilk found blacks to be the ultimate threat to racial purity and American civilization.

Obviously you retards are ignorant of these matters because it wasn't until later that "mission creep" found Planned Parenthood working for the extermination of all races.

Also, you morons might want to review the news. A few weeks ago, Planned Parenthood in Idaho was found to be targeting blacks for abortion.

Finally, it's rather perverted logic to surmise this guy is racist for decrying an organization that receives federal support and was founded with the express purpose of limiting and eliminating the black race from this country.

Ofcourse, there isn't any level of pervert that the typical lib can't achieve.

"Meanwhile, Sanger, who founded the American Birth Control League (which eventually became Planned Parenthood), was an advocate of both birth control and eugenics. And while she did not publicly denounce Nazi Germany's eugenics program, privately she expressed deep concern."

In regards to the above quote, the author should research Sanger's history. She was indeed in favor of eugenics and declared the negro race was inferior and should be eradicated. She even went so far as to enlist W.E. Dubois in her plot but he eventually saw through it. McCain, while I may not agree with his polices regarding the war etc,, his pastor is correct and is knowedgble on the subject. As a matter of fact there is a video circulating the internet in which a caller makes a donation specifically for Black abortions, which PPH gladly accepted. The truth is the light brother and it shines brightly////////Margaret Sanger...a social worker BAH!!!!!!!!
