Neo-Nazis and White Supremacists Publish Ominous Threats to Obama's Life

With the selection of Barack Obama as the first black Democratic nominee for president seeming more possible by the day, racists and white supremacists are posting increasingly ugly and even threatening remarks on the Internet.

"OBAMA WILL DIE, KKK FOREVER," concludes a Feb. 15 post by "Rodney" to a blog run by a person identified only as Strider333. Above that signoff, Rodney wrote: "The KKK or someone WILL assassinate Obama! If we get a NIGGER President all you NIGGER's [sic] will think you've won and that the WHITE people will have to bow to you[.] FUCK THAT."

On traditional white supremacist and neo-Nazi sites (for instance, here and here), there are lengthy discussion threads about what would happen if Obama were elected president. Dozens of those posts are derogatory and employ all kinds of racist slurs. Others speculate that such an Obama victory would kick off a race war between whites and blacks. And some even raise the possibility that he could be assassinated. But talk like that is rare and extremely careful -- probable evidence that the "white nationalists" who inhabit these sites are deeply concerned that their comments are being monitored by law enforcement for any criminal threat relating to the presidential race. In fact, Obama reportedly received federal Secret Service protection unusually early in the campaign season because of concerns about a racially motivated attack.

The most heated anti-Obama talk appears to be on Internet sites that allow people to post messages anonymously. One such site, JD Underground, is a list ostensibly devoted to lawyers, although further details were not available. It has carried a particularly venomous thread, entitled "Nigger President," that has stretched from January into this month.

"I'm hoping someone will do his public duty of putting a bullet through Obama's head," said a poster identified as "Kill Da Nigga." Another poster suggests "bring[ing] back lynchings" and concludes with a warning: "LOOK OUT NIGGER. THE KLAN IS GETTING BIGGER!!!!!!" And a third, using the screen name "amerikkkan," says only, "The deep south is making plans."

Digg!

As hopeful as I am about an Obama presidency, I do worry about his safety. He's a husband and father, and it would shatter their world and my heart if these lunatics were to follow through on their threats. Lord help us!

These "people" (and I use the term loosely) don't deserve the pixels it took to compose it. Articles like this just gives credence to these fools. Maybe they won't go away if you ignore them, but giving voice to their insane ramblings doesn't serve any purpose but to make good people afraid.

SECURITY FOR OBAMA CALLED OFF

In the light of these types of threats to Obama's life, would someone explain why the federal government called back the secret service at an Obama rally today in Texas? There were 17,000 people there, and law enforcement officials were in shock when they were told not to examine attendees for weapons. Just let everyone go. Is this the begining of the end? So, who is behind this? The Bush Administration? This is disgusting.

and ask Cheney to be his running mate, in order to offer a vice president so vile, nobody would dare assassinate the president for fear of having Cheney next in line. It's kept the Shrub safe for eight years!

Seriously though, the KKK should be on the terrorist watch list, and when the new Homegrown Terrorist and Violent Radicalization Act of 2007 passes the Senate, these people should be at the top of the list of groups who use force or violence to further their agenda. Oh wait, so should the the US Government!

Bottom line is; if they can protect the Shrub from the anger of the ENTIRE world, they should be able to protect Obama from the anger of a few mentally ill Amerikans.

I'm sure tha Obama was ready for this. The hate groups waited until he was riding the crest of the wave and came out from under their rock. They burn out in a short time and go back under their rock. The less attention they get, the better off we'll all be. It's too bad that they still get attention from the press. They conjure up terrible thoughts and memories, but that's about it. They don't like being ignored. Thanks, Anna

I encourage those of you who find this kind of thinking disturbing to do something positive by checking out and supporting the Southern Poverty Law Center. Under the direction of Morris Dees, this organization has been tracking and prosecuting hate groups since 1971. Mr. Dees also needs extra security to protect him from the same kinds of threats. I especially like their Teaching Tolerance program which aims to eliminating intolerence in all forms from public schools.

The first & only time I heard an Obama speech ...

... was last July in Iowa. I was very impressed with his seemingly off-the-cuff oratory. I noted the Kennedy/ML King similarities and my gut reaction was, "He might make a good national leader -- IF 'they' let him live long enough." For there ARE ruthlessly mad fools in existence who would truly stop at nothing to further their rabid "causes" and we would be equally foolish to pretend otherwise, for such pathological villains have always existed in one form or another.

As a conscientious voter, I find the "divisive euphoria" of Obama-mania demeaning. He's not some pop star, he's a clever politician who seemingly has his heart in the right place (like several other Dem contenders, I might add) and whoever gets elected will NOT get a free ride in change-averse Washington DC. He or she will still need help from the electorate.

It is not up to Obama / Clinton/ McCain alone to change America and to keep society's dregs from giving a "good guy" a chance. It is up to the American People.

Now, momentarily, we're finally showing an interest in changing things for the better. But what about when our new president is slogging through the congressional swamps of political compromise one year, two years from now? Will we be euphorically aflutter about our hopes for the future then, policing the policies coming out of Washington and hitting the barricades for justice, environmental wisdom or human rights...? This pragmatist will believe it when she sees it, for IMO we've become a society of dumbed-down, instant-gratification addicts. Most Americans seem to want to elect a pseudo-celebrity who'll change things FOR us, so we can go back to watching American Idol (Idle!) and going to the mall.

I was for Edwards until he was systematically ignored into political oblivion. When I examine the platforms of Clinton or Obama, I'm gratified by what I see. But we've got a long way to go until the "good guys" actually make the world a better place and the white supremacists and other brainless scum crawl back under their rocks.

And with that, I hereby relinquish the soapbox! ;-)

Obama assination

Obama's assassination will come, if it comes, from a well planned textbook triangulation, as is most often the case in these types of "eliminations". The blame will be pined upon a lone maniac, or some small supremacist group that is effectively a fall guy organisation. I am sure such plans have been laid long ago, and it is only a matter of a thoughtful calculated threat assessment that will trigger Obama's end. The assessment will be based upon the probability that Obama can be co-opted, marginalized, or contained. The smart money is on the probability that he will be used as a asset for the establishment, especially because he represents a victory for representative government and illustrates to the world and our viable and free democracy.

They will let him rule until he proves to be untrainable or intractable and then they will put their carefully laid plans into motion.

Such is the history of the darker side of politics. Learn form the past.

OBAMA, A TROJAN HORSE, PIED PIPER, DON QUIXOTE.

Articles like this are one of the many reasons I do not trust AlterNet or Senator Obama.

I have written many comments voicing my reasons for not trusting Senator Obama. I have called him a Trojan Horse, Pied Piper, and Don Quixote all for good reason.

My name is Robert M. Castle if any one gives a damn. I am 85 years old. I served throughout WW2 as an enlsted man and then as an officer. After the war I attended USC Law School where I obtained a Juris Doctor degree. I worked briefly as a Special Agent in the FBI, approximately two years as a Deputy District Attorney, and another 40 years as a private publid defender.

Based on my studies and experience I repeat, I do not trust AlterNet or Senator Obama. In the first instance, it is a matter of integrity. Much of the stuff they publish has no redeeming social or educational value. Regarding Senator Obama, if he is too good to be true, he is not.

I'm almost at a loss for words. That people really do still think this way frightens me. (Or that they'd think that becuase I'm paler I'd support that garbage.) Race war my ass! Let's declare a war against this type of hate! I only hope Obama has taken adequate security measures for himself, just in case
