As to Jim Webb. If you look beyond Webb, you will find that Congress has done little to stop the corrupt Republicans.... even if we do have Finegold, Webb and a few others that show great promise. In fact, there should be more relationship establised between Finegold and Webb. They have such limited power as it is now. Rather than picking on the few that are trying, let us talk about all the bad apples that are the real problems ...there are so damn many of them.
We must vote out of office Replublicans and about 15 to 20 Democrats.... to obtain a better government. Let's be critical on those that (should be) brought to light to the public.

Our whole congress has a bad case of STOCKHOLM SYNDROME.

Congress has been reduced to a bunch of "good Germans" covering for Bush's Reichstadt (9/11).

There is so much proof of horrific HIGH CRIMES by this administration, that congress seems to have put themselves in a trance...a coma...so they don't have to think about the horror of it all.

They seem to think that they are accomplishing important legislation, when the truth is just the opposite. They are unable to admit to themselves that Bush either vetoes everything, or inserts a signing statement defying congress, or under funds everything. So their efforts go to NAUGHT and they are wasting precious time and precious lives. America and the world are laughing at them, if not sticking pins in voodoo dolls. All the while the death and destruction continue unabated by an intervention of sanity.

Congress thinks that whatever they mistakenly believe they are accomplishing is more important than stopping the river of lies that we and the world are drowning in. More important than stopping the mass murder for profit, the torture, the looting of our nation and Iraq, the illegal surveillance (the police state), the international chaos. IMPEACHING BUSH, CHENEY AND GETTING RID OF THEIR HENCHMEN ADMINISTRATION will accomplish the same thing, and will save this democracy, to boot.

NOTHING is more important to very survival of this democracy (maybe the world), and to our Constitution (now almost destroyed) than to IMPEACH immediately. The Bush Mafia should then be tried for their crimes in the U.S., then again in an international war crimes tribunal. Everything else can and should wait.

IMPEACHMENT says, "We're sorry!" - probably the ONLY apology the world will accept from an indifferent, greedy, self-absorbed American People.

IMPEACHMENT writes their crimes into our official history and our history books... to learn from into the future. IF IT ISN'T WRITTEN, IT DIDN'T HAPPEN. Their their crimes will be left to mere debate and supposition in the many books that have been written by experts documenting their crimes and outlining the required Articles of Impeachment.

IMPEACHMENT reverses the overreaching executive power precedent set by this administration and a corrupt congress. The Democrats can and might be just as big tyrants and dictators with these powers.

IMPEACHMENT is the sunlight and the truth that disinfects...and this country is rotting. Tell the American People the TRUTH, re-educate them about what a HIGH CRIME is... and the Dems WILL have the votes. The American People will see to it! To believe anything less is to insult the intelligence, patriotism and sense of justice of the American People.

ONE MILLION MURDERED IRAQIS, 4,000 OF OUR DEAD SOLDIERS, THOUSANDS OF THE PERMANENTLY MAIMED HUMAN BEINGS, MILLIONS OF DISPLACED IRAQIS, ALL DEMAND IMPEACHMENT NOW!

Psychiatrists are posting that Bush and Cheney are exhibiting signs of psychosis -- congress can't see it and doesn't understand the imminent danger of leaving these people in charge of this nation.

IF WE DO NOT ACT NOW TO REMOVE THESE PEOPLE, THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, LIKE THE GERMANS DID, WILL SUFFER FROM SHAME AND HUMILIATION FOR GENERATIONS.

They said it when they were sworn in. It says that they will protect and defend the Constitution, from all threats, both foreign AND DOMESTIC... and why do you suppose the founders worded it in that way??? Because they forsaw the ability of our own government to be just as big a threat to our Constitution as any foreign army! There is a reason it was written that way!

I would venture to guess that most of the current legislators in Washington DC haven't even read the Constitution, much less understand what it is. They were given the power they have because they are SUPPOSED to be a body "representative of the People." They are SUPPOSED to be a CO-EQUAL branch of government! They are there to keep an overreaching Executive or Judicial branch in check!

I swear, they're clueless. The ones that don't "get it" shouldn't be there. Remember that when you cast your votes this November!

It doesn't matter whether it's cowardice or they're getting paid off. Our representative refused to do their sworn duty. Unless the people step in masses and require action against those involved in the destruction of Sep 11, 2001 as well as the official cover-up there can be no getting back any democracy at least thought we had before.

I was optimistic(and so naive) when the Dems took over Congress, only to find they are part of the problem, not the solution. Sen. Reid,(from my state) has turned out to be Caspar Milquetoast-what can you expect from a Democratic Mormon, an oxymoron to be sure. The only solution is a complete housecleaning, which will never happen. Our once great country is in a free fall, and no parachute in sight.

To read that Jim Webb, a seemingly independent, strong-willed, intelligent guy, who was a beacon of hope when elected, is already capitulating to the powers that be is a sad commentary indeed on the state of our country.

Sometimes I think it must be a bigger threat than we the peons can comprehend for these elected officials. They are SO timid in the face of these thugs that I wonder if their very lives have been threatened. Or the lives of their children. Maybe they know the gulags will soon be filled with Americans and they want to make sure and keep their butts safe.

Either that or Karl Rove has video of the dems having a mass orgy with sheep, camels and young children.

I can not fathom any other reason why they are being SO GROTESQUELY wimpy. When Bush was popular, it was dangerous to stand up to him, but now for Christ sake, the people are demanding action and they still refuse to act.

For any politician, their main goal is to get reelected so they (generally speaking) do what the people want. For them to blatantly ignore the obvious will of the people on so many important issues means they have something that motivates them more than being popular with the people. Especially when they RAN on a platform from which they have now backed away from! They've changed their minds? Of course not. Maybe they're petrified... for good reason.

If I thought a Blackwater thug was going to harass my family maybe that would make me give in to the SOB's too.

I'm old enough to realize Mr. Smith never really went to Washington other than on faded celluloid, but I would think someone like Jim Webb would have the guts to last more than such a brief time. Or hell, maybe they just ALL want to line their pockets and get their dicks stroked. I'm actually giving the jokers the benefit of the doubt by postulating that they have been mortally threatened. Perhaps the real answer is they are nothing but greedy lying pigs who do not give a shit about anyone on the planet except themselves and they assume a strong PR machine can overcome inconvenient details like the truth of their terrible performance and they'll get reelected regardless.

There you have it. As we natter about walls of separation between church and state, we distract ourselves from the fact that EVERY money-driven aspect of society and culture -- every institution that takes money for profit or has no obligation to disclose its finances -- should be walled off.

Our Gub-mint has been operated in the business paradigm for so long that a large number of us actually believe that such is the stuff of democracy.
