Texas Primary Will Be a Wild Ride for Dems

Hillary hasn't blunted Obama's likability, and if the electorate in Texas catches on to this "change" thing, she's going to be sunk, again.

Texas seems a confused place for Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. It might be trending Obama's way, though, and should do more of that trending when he wins in Wisconsin and Hawaii.

Maybe Hillary was right to campaign so hard there at the expense of Wisconsin. Two polls are out, and even the best one for Hillary Clinton only gives her a small edge in the vote. The other poll leans towards Obama, and I'm betting we'll see even more bandwagon jumping if Obama wins in Wisconsin (he's holding a 50-39 point lead as of a few days ago). Here's some internals from that poll in Texas that favors Hillary Clinton, from the statesman.com:

Now for the numbers, Democrats first:

Clinton was ahead 49 percent to 41 percent, with 8 percent undecided.

When asked their most important concern, Democratic voters chose the economy (28 percent), the situation in Iraq (17 percent) and health care (16 percent).

Democratic voters are happy with their candidates, with 75 percent having a favorable opinion of Clinton, and 71 percent approving of Obama. Unfavorables were 23 percent for Clinton, 24 percent for Obama.

Obama supporters liked his ability to foster change (43 percent) and electability (12 percent). Clinton supporters went for her experience (40 percent) and ability to bring change (14 percent).

Doesn't look like Hillary Clinton has blunted Obama's likability, and if the electorate in Texas catches on to this "change" thing, she's going to be sunk, again. Here's that other poll, also from the stateman.com:

Now, we have American Research Group out of New Hampshire, which flips the results, putting Obama up, 48 percent to 42 percent, in a Feb. 13-14 poll of 600 likely Democratic primary voters (4 percent margin of error). Seven percent of those polled were undecided.

The new poll attributes Obama's surge to self-described independents and Republicans who said they plan to vote in the Democratic primary. Those voters amounted to 22 percent of respondents and went for Obama almost 3-to-1. This is a demographic that helped fuel Obama wins in previous primaries, exit polls have shown.

Among Democrats, Clinton topped Obama 47 percent to 42 percent, the poll found.

The poll also found Obama winning with white voters (51 percent to 40 percent) and African Americans (76 to 17).

Clinton was the choice of Hispanics, but just barely, 44 percent to 42 percent.

I'm particularly impressed that Barack Obama seems to be leading among white voters. In fact, I'm encouraged by how close it seems among Hispanic voters. Still, this was a poll that included independents, and all those people have to register as Democrats to count. So what Barack Obama needs is some more momentum from Wisconsin and Hawaii. By many accounts, he's going to get it, especially if the independents in the electorate in Wisconsin think their vote matters far more in the Democratic rather than the Republican primary.

Want some "nuts and bolts" about how Obama can win in Texas? You can certainly do worse than the Burnt Orange Report. What that report says to me is that Hillary Clinton, who needs a big win to take a whole bunch of delegates, ain't going to get it

"...Clinton was ahead 49 percent to 41 percent, with 8 percent undecided..."

Isn't that essentially a tie, since it is 8 percent undecided, and only 8% difference? And what about the + or - margin of error???

You can't base anything on the polls, in Texas or anywhere else, especially in any of the primaries that aren't held until March!

This thing ain't over yet. And I've got a feeling Hillary is in for a rude awakening!

Media started early, quietly, and increased its attack gradually, culminating in the most vicious assaut on a presidential candidate in my long memory. Hillary could easily defeat Obama, or any other candidate. But with mainstream media so strongly against her, her staying power and resilience in the face of overwhelming odds, has been astonishing. She was and is the best candidate, if only because of this one measure. Behind all the hoopla and cheering for the Obamessiah, we've all had the best candidate's campaign murdered before our unwary eyes.

Hey Texas! How are you down there?!
Listen up! Before you go to the polls, bone up on the opposition research that will be coming out as soon as we Democrats pick our nominee-

the Repubs are being nice and quiet about Obama for a big reason. They think Hillary can win the main election, sooo, they are praying that Obama gets the nomination---then the proverbial sh*t will hit the fan hard--all us democrats will be very disenheartened, dispirited----

The die-hard Obama fans will "stay the course" because they will not swallow their pride in their pick, but, the Independents and less disillusioned will jump off the burning band wagon---go to "No Quarter" Larry Johnson "No He Can't Because, Yes, They Will"--google it--read just some of the true stories that are waiting in the wings concerning Obama---not good at all. We need a capable winner. Let's not putz around anymore!

Get thee behind Hillary!

Texas elects a President

Texans- think of which of these two candidates: Barak Obama or Hillary Clinton, will make the better President.

Both of them are well-qualified and experienced.

Obama has deep roots in the activist and community organizing movement and will bring fresh faces, new energy and an entirely different perspective into the government.

Imagine electing a man President who BELIEVES the government is there to help the people.

Clinton has exhibited a humanity and compassion that have withstood the effects of her clawing her way to the top of the heap. She is a truly inspirational figure. Her ability to articulate a compassionate vision of service while simultaneously performing the myriad political duties required to achieve power is unique and should not be dismissed.

Politics is a hard and dirty game and a lot of the stains stick. It is ignorant to hold the stains and scars that either candidate has suffered in their struggles against them.

Clinton's executive ability vs Obama's organizational genius.

Clinton's power in breaking the glass ceiling and unleashing woman power in the 21st Century vs Obama's ability to transcend and heal the racial divisions of our society.

Texans- you are the ones who can decide our country's future. Pray, think long and hard.

We, your fellow Americans, all envy your position.

Democratic Destruction on March 3

On March 3, longtime family friend and close Obama associate Tony Rezko, goes on trial in Chicago for bribery and corruption. Meaning?

Rezko's trial, which was recently moved up from FEBRUARY 25--which would have gotten huge publicity in Texas BEFORE the primary vote on MARCH 4--has been moved up to MARCH 3--the day BEFORE Texas votes, and not enough time for the facts about Obama's association with Rezko, to circulate among the voters.

The MSM--Dallas Morning News, Houston Chronicle, etc--is downplaying this because they want Obama--who seems unstoppable now--to get the mantle of Democratic Presidential Candidate. So what happens next? The Republicans are feigning 'fear-of-Obama' and keeping quiet about these Obama associations--which they are very well aware of--for NOW.

If Obama is the candidate--as he well may be if he gains TEXAS--, expect the Republican shit to hit the fan--NOT on MARCH 3 when Rezko goes on trial, but RIGHT AFTER THE MARCH 4 TEXAS PRIMARIES--which then will cause the disillusioned (Obama's ties to Rezko who got the Obamas their home, among other things)-- Indys, and most other appalled Democrats, to stay home from the TX primary, in droves. The resultant Democratic poor showing at the polls will enable the otherwise impossible--a strong Texas vote for John McCain. Alternative?

Do what we were going to do BEFORE this Rovian train-wreck hits the fan--make Hillary our candidate. She can nominate Edwards as her VP. It'd be a natural ticket anyway!

And then Karl Rove--waiting in the wings until the TX Dems make their choice, before unleashing the Obama/Tony Rezko ties all over the Dallas Morning News, Houston Chronicle, etc, etc--will have to try to derail the Dems a different way, than using Barack Obama's ties to the crooked Rezko, to do it with.

Trust me that Karl Rove's licking his chops every time he hears "Yes We Can" reverberating through Texas, as the all-important TX March 4 date approaches.

WHO "wins" the Democratic primary in Texas. As long as the hopelessly corrupt Electoral College is in existence, it'll deliver the election to the rethugs on a silver platter.
