Lieberman's Super Delegate Status Stripped Because of McCain Endorsement

Mark Pazniokas:

Thanks to Zell Miller, there is a rule to deal with Joe Lieberman.

Lieberman's endorsement of Republican John McCain disqualifies him as a super-delegate to the Democratic National Convention under what is informally known as the Zell Miller rule, according to Democratic State Chairwoman Nancy DiNardo.

Miller, then a Democratic senator from Georgia, not only endorsed Republican George Bush four years ago, but he delivered a vitriolic attack on Democrat John Kerry at the Republican National Convention.

The Democrats responded with a rule disqualifying any Democrat who crosses the aisle from being a super delegate. Lieberman will not be replaced, DiNardo said.,

And for those who said they'd never lift their glass in a toast to Zell Miller...cheers!

that they sent this guy back to Congress? I know he ran as an Independent after he was defeated by what turned out to be hapless candidate Lamont, but good grief, was this expected?

Do you know what I find would be a "historical moment" here? If McCain gets the nomination and puts this guy on his ticket. It hasn't happened in all our history and it probably would never happen again, that a United States Senator appeared as a Vice-presidential candidate on both a democratic and republican ticket. Unbelievable.

It is about time Lieberman was dispelled by the Democrats. He spends most of his time masterminding gifts of American Dollars to Israel through the American Jewish Council. Long ago, he forgot the people that put him in office for representation. Good riddance.

It appears pretty certain now that Joey will sooner rather than later jump over and caucus and vote with the ultra-rightwing Stooges in the Senate, despite their blatant quasi-fascist policies.

His name is Obama

From an earlier Alternet posting:

He lent his politically influential and financially rewarding assistance to neo-conservative pro-war Senator Joe Lieberman’s (“D”-CT) struggle against the Democratic antiwar insurgent Ned Lamont. Obama has supported other “mainstream Democrats” fighting antiwar progressives in primary races (see Alexander Cockburn, “Obama’s Game,” the Nation, April 24, 2006).

When he was running against Lamont we kept hearing how he was a liberal democrat that was with us on everything except 1 issue, and Lamont supporters were derided for wearing war blinders. Obviously Joe has those blinders on too. Hypocrite. Liar. Republican (is there anything worse?)

How we got Liebermann

Back when the Republicans undertook their ultra-conservative mission of cleansing those who refused to speak in their tongues, Liebermann was backed by the emerging Republican machine in opposition to renegade Republican Lowell Weicker. Weicker was a man of honor and integrity (thus, anethema to the wing-nuts) and he was one of the most progressive of Senators.

Here's to you Lowell; a bit of justice at last!

For many months I have been responding to mail solicitations from the DSCC, telling them when they put Joltin' Joe out of the caucus and the committee chairmanship, I will re-open my wallet! I never got even one reply!

I fervently hope that this exclusion from party status will be the first of the several steps they must take to rid us of this Abominable Joe man. He is a repeated source of embarrassment to the party!

Besides, he said he is going to the Republican convention and support McCain. Let them deal with him.

No soup for you, Joe!

LIEberman is a disgusting piece of chicken schitt and that's on his good days. If the Democrats in Congress had any cajones they would have removed him from all committiees.

You can bet that the old dog is humping for the vice presidency. I hope McCain does name him as vp candidate. It would doom that disgusting ticket for good.

a complete and total opportunist! He's bucking for the VP slot (mistakenly thinking, I'm sure, that it could bring in a lot of Democrats for McCain!). He didn't get it with Gore, so - what the hell! - I will try it with an Elephant!

He screwed the Democrats in Connecticut to retain his Senate seat. He isn't a Democrat. He's a traitor.

So what, exactly does that change? What is a "Super Delegate" and how does that differ from just any other delegate?

Lieberman's the only one with the sense to get out of the SOCIALIST PEACE PARTY OF AMERICA ("Where We Tell the Terrorists: 'Please be nice to us' ").

Home of BARACK OBAMA - CANDIDATE OF CHANGE (Out to get MORE of the CHANGE in YOUR pocket.)

Now, I hope that Lieberman finally gets his wits about him and stops caucusing with these idealistic nitwits on the left.
