Ted Haggard's Church: Ex-Gay Brainwashing Didn't Take

This guy was one of their holiest ministers, so if he can't pray it away, who can? (no one of course!!)

Really, what a bunch of maroons if they think you can pray away the gay. I mean, this guy was one of their holiest ministers, so if he can't pray it away, who can? (no one of course!!)

COLORADO SPRINGS -- More than a year after then-pastor Ted Haggard resigned from his position at the New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Haggard has severed his official relationship with the New Life Church Restoration Team.

Haggard was the church's senior founding pastor.

In November 2006, he resigned from his church leadership position and from his position as head of the National Association of Evangelicals amid allegations he had an affair with a male prostitute.

(snip)

"New Life Church recognizes the process of restoring Ted Haggard is incomplete and maintains its original stance that he should not return to vocational ministry. However, we wish him and his family only success in the future."

A quick prayer circle and all that gay would be washed out and he could stop being a girly-man and rejoin the GOP Breeders....

but at least he had the good sense to resign from his post. Probably from humiliation at his own hypocrisy. And he admitted he was gay. (Implicitly when he tried to go through the program that would de-gay him!)

But Larry Craig's still Senator! No humiliation will make him give up his precious seat! And he still insists he's NOT GAY!

Oy! These guys are a piece of work!

Hetero/Homo

I remember when I was in 6th grade and I first became attracted to a girl my own age.
Oh, how I wanted to be free of that guilt, the guilt of being ...(gasp) heterosexual!
Now, I didn't want to be gay, exactly. But I certainly didn't want to have feelings for ...(gasp) girls! - My sworn enemies at the time.

Fast forward to now. Well, I have accepted my heterosexuality. And I know I was born that way, and could not become gay no matter how I tried. Hell, praying to God (whom I doubt even exists) certainly wouldn't help.
But I have to wonder what it would be like to be in a world where the situation was reversed from how it is in our universe. -- Heterosexual marriage was banned, while gay marriage was sanctioned by both church and state. You could be fired from the military for being straight. Straights were sometimes assaulted and beaten up, and were the subject of many schoolkid jokes and name-calling. Straights were often equated with pedophiles. Etc.
It all makes me pause. We still have SO far to go when it comes to this kind of bigotry, don't we?

Why always one or the other?

The guy has a mainly heterosexual life with homosexual on the side so that makes him 'gay'. Does that mean he can live a homosexual lifestyle and a few heterosexual prostitutes make him 'straight'? Looks to me like a one-way door here and about time we stopped believing that people must be all 'gay' and no amount of straight experience can change that, or all 'straight' and one bit of homosexual makes them all 'gay'. Sounds a bit like 'one-drop law' to me. Maybe people are just people and can have hetero or homo experience without making that a label to exclude them from the other side for life?

was made by Roy Zimmerman in his song "Ted Haggard is Completely Heterosexual." That one gets me on the floor laughing every time.

Technically speaking, Haggard is Bi.

So is Larry Craig.

Doesn't make them any less hypocritical.
