Bill O'Reilly Attacks Homeless Vets for Not Watching Fox News

Homeless people frequently don't have cable, Bill. Something you might learn if you talked to them.

Bill O'Reilly refuses to apologize for his repeated assertions that there are no homeless vets. Watch it here.

Bill never served in the military, and he makes more than $9 million a year. It is unsurprising that he's out of touch with the plight of the 200,000 homeless veterans living in America. So we found them, we videotaped them, and we brought a few to O'Reilly's doorstep in NYC.

Then he refused to even let them in the building, and proceeded to mock them on national television... for not watching FOX News!

Homeless people frequently don't have cable, Bill. Something you might learn if you talked to them.

America's veterans do NOT deserve to be insulted and humiliated any longer. Sign the open letter demanding an apology from O'Reilly, and pass it on to your friends.

If I didn't hear it with my own ears, I wouldn't believe that even the outrageous Bill O would have the nerve to spew such spin.

the "no spin zone?" Give me a break. That guy spins so much it makes me dizzy. He is the most deluded megalomaniac on the planet and what comes out of his mouth is completely crazy and false.

what a shame that he exists and makes so damn much money.

Bill employs the typical Republican tactic, attack the messenger but don't address the message.

So he takes cheap shots at the organizers, as if some flopped movie decades ago has any bearing on the status and number of homeless vets now.
Then he take cheap shots at the homeless vets as well. Sounds bites make them appear confused, so their message is not worth addressing, or even mentioning in the piece.
The fact is there are unfortunately plenty of homeless vets and Bill was wrong in saying there aren't.

Bill should just admit he was wrong and move on, but his inflated ego won't allow him to do that.

If what he did wasn't so egregious, you could almost feel sorry for him. But then, who can feel sorry for a multi-millionaire who got his money off such blatantly stupid people like himself who support him?

What's wrong with the corporate media in this country that would allow this type of filth and hatred to be presented as "news?" Shame on O'Reilly, and shame on Faux "News" for obviously sharing the same sick and twisted beliefs! He bellows, night after disgusting night, about how no one supports the troops the way he does! He recently spent weeks railing against the USO and the celebrities that won't go to Iraq and Afghanistan on the tours, all the while breaking his arm trying to pat himself on the back for having done so. And now this. Tell me, Bull-O, how is this supporting the troops? He earns many of his millions on the backs of the very homeless vets he claims to care so much about, while mocking them on his program.

There is a special place in hell for Bull-O and all those at Faux "News."

Yeah...you see, Bill. When your life is destroyed, and you don't have a home...or a T.V., it can get tricky to catch the Factor every night. I guess your response would be, "then they should have TiVoed it".

Where he edited it such that he had things coming out if the jerk's mouth that even HE found outrageous. Big horses ass does that all the time. Would be fun to watch.

Being honest, of course, Greenwald would have to label it for what it was. Shame. Would be fun to watch O'lielly froth at the mouth.

In his monetary obsession to pander to and bond with the ignorant and the irrational, O'Liely (I love ths spelling!) long ago put intellectual prostitution ahead of civic responsibility. He's a cold hearted whore. Yeah, Bill, we know, you got yours. But it ain't over till the fat lady sings. You and your network are emerging from the shadows. You can't succeed among an enlightened people.

little billy is the typical mouthpiece for the corporation that stands behind him in our growing Third Reich-like nation. It's the corporation behind Bill, and corporations like it, that are the manipulators, the real danger. Without this, billy would just be some obscure hack.

The Corner Stone of FASCISM!

The Corner Stone of Fascism.
Is control of the Media.
Through that vehicle they exercise
Brutal demonic absolute control.
Brainwashing, Programming and Conditioning
From Birth to Grave.

They were never Honest, Pure or Brave.
Just easily fooled or heavily paid.
Aristocrats, Mercenaries and Prostitutes!
The worst money can buy.

One by one
The Rats are leaving the floundering ship.
Mission Admonished!
Truth be known.
Accountability will begin.
Another Zio-Nazi runs for cover,
While the organ Grinder grinds on.
Pied Piping a slightly different tune.
A hypnotic lullaby.
Pulling everybody back to sleep.

The Cor'pirate' system that spawned these evil shills.
Rides to their rescue
Singing Hi Ho Silver!
And away.
And away goes:
Your Freedom, Wealth and Liberty.
Down the Drain.
Replaced by a play.
Written for one.
One Corpirate Nation
World Domination

Read it and weep.
A lot happens while you sleep.
Wake UP!
Wake Up!
Please.
The Game is a foot.

Greenwald and BO are both spinning here...
Posted by: boblecht on Feb 3, 2008 7:37 AM

If BO actually said there are no homeless vets, he is obviously wrong. If he said, as he claims, that homelessness among vets is due to mental illness and substance abuse and dependence, and not the economy, he is partially correct. In suggesting the economy and jobs has nothing to do with homelessness among vets, he is quite wrong.

I've worked with homeless vets for 6 years. Many of them do have MH and substance abuse problems, but I don't think the incidence of these problems is greater among vets than in the non-veteran homeless population. When the economy is good and jobs are plentiful, even folks with mental illness and addictions can and do find work. When jobs are scarce, they are among the first to loose work.

Homelessness among veterans is symbolically powerful both politically and ideologically. Both sides are subject to spinning the problem.

As a veteran myself, I am dismayed and annoyed that these men and women have become ideological objects of manipulation by both the right and the left.

Greenwald and BO--you need to stop further victimizing these folks and go find something else to fight about.

Hate to say it, but O'Reilly takes this one again. Shame on Greenwald for putting up a fight that makes Democrats in Congress positively vicious! I mean, rielly! What did he expect with such a lukewarm salvo?

Did even one O'Reilly fan change his mind after this lame stunt? Hardly likely. Chances are excellent that the NBC producer has a reprimand in his mailbox this morning. And those poor, well-meaning vets got their asses handed to them, made to look like inarticulate dupes--for shame!

Greenwald should know better. O'Reilly is a schoolyard bully. Everyone knows the mob that cheers a bully doesn't do it because he is fighting for a cause--they cheer him on because he's gonna whup some punk ass! And O'Reilly did just precisely that. Now he's got even more power.

If you want to destroy O'Reilly on this issue, go back to progressive fundamentals. Bring a huge CROWD of veterans to FOX's front door. I mean near a thousand. Have them carry signs that say, "ARREST ME: Jail's better than where I'm sleeping tonight" or "WANTED: A homeless Haliburton Contractor." Camp out in front of FOX Headquarters, bring cameras to film cops busting the heads of veterans; stay there until O'Reilly meets one of two demands: he either apologizes for his statement, or he presents facts that back up his assertion (on a podium of our making, with equal time to refute them.)

I mean jeez! Its almost as if we WANT this guy to win!
