What better way to celebrate New Years than to give you Pensito Review's:

2007 GOP Adulterers Hall of Fame Nominees [minus one]

* Ronald Reagan: Lived like a Hollywood playboy during his first marriage
* Richard Mellon Scaife: Rightwing billionaire caught by his wife in LTR with a former hooker
* Larry Craig: Homo-hating U.S. senator nabbed seeking sex in men's room
* David Vitter: Another senator with a morals agenda, his hid an irresistible penchant for prostitutes
* Dick Morris: Current advisor to Rev. Huckabee, was embroiled in a prostitute scandal in the 1990s that involved toe sucking
* Ted Haggard: Megachurch founder, Bush advisor and professional homophobe, he was outed by a male escort in 2006
* Bob Allen: Homophobic Florida politician tried to buy sex from an undercover cop in the men's room of a park
* Richard Curtis: A rightwing gay-hating Washington pol who accused a hustler nicknamed "The Stallion" of extortion

Requirements for Nomination

It's not the sex, it's the hypocrisy.

To qualify as a nominee to Pensito Review's GOP Adulterers Hall of Fame, a person must be a conservative politician or opinion leaders who promotes so-called family values -- and especially the sanctity of marriage -- but who has also had sex outside his or her marriage, or had sex with someone who was married to someone else at the time.

And as a special bonus, The 2006 Top 10 GOP Adulterers list included:

George H.W. Bush, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sen. John McCain, Rudolph Giuliani, Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, Newt Gingrich, Bob Barr, Henry Hyde and Gary Bauer.

Being the fair and balanced blogger that I am, I didn't want to exclude last year's contenders.

But the Democratic Hypocrites Are Worse!

These Bible-thumping, hooker-humping sleazebags are hypocrites, but they did what their constituents wanted: bash gays, try to outlaw abortion or make it hard to get, enrich the super-rich and impoverish everyone else, start pointless wars, alienate our allies and exponentially increase our enemies through torture, forced disappearance and slaughter of civilians, and other aspects of the right's agenda. Their offenses were private and consensual.

Not so many Democrats, notably Nancy Pelosi and Jay Rockefeller. They aided, abetted and connived at war crimes and constitutional violations while maintaining a self-righteous facade of centrism. They have served the same agenda as the Republicans while publicly denying it. They have promoted impunity for government officials and private businesspeople who have engaged in felonious conduct. So who is worse?

The Living Skull, Mr 9/11 gets the gong on this one. His very public love life and his current posturing in the primaries make him a shoo-in (but not for the White House)

Anybody else wondering what an "LTR" is?

I'm not a repugnican love machine. I'm an innocent moderate who has never cheated on his wife, paid for sex, tapped his foot for sex or had sex with anyone else's wife. I don't know all the sophisticated abbreviations.

What does LTR stand for?
