Ron Paul: "We're Getting Ready to Bomb Iran"

This is the Ron Paul that makes sense to me. I could never vote for him, but these words are welcome.

Oh good. More comforting news. First Bhutto's assassination, now Ron Paul predicting another disaster:

Despite a recent National Intelligence Estimate finding that Iran has halted its nuclear weapons program, libertarian-leaning GOP presidential contender Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) says there is still "a great possibility" of US military action against the country.

Appearing on MSBNC's Morning Joe, Paul described what he characterized as a deteriorating situation on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan, and said the US was preparing to kickstart yet another conflict -- this time in Iran.

It's not like Bush lacks credibility. His judgment has always been so sound, doncha think? And the Nation of Dick has always been such a good balance, always the clear-thinker, never self-serving, a gentle, peace-lovin' gramps of a man.

"It is getting worse over there," he said. "Afghanistan is getting worse. Turkey is bombing Iraq. And Pakistan is blowing up and we're getting ready to bomb Iran. A bunch of those neocons want to bomb Iran."

He goes on to say that the NIE doesn't matter, we don't matter, nothing matters.

Concluded Paul, "That is the absurdity of the whole mess we have in there...stay out of entangling alliances, stay out of nation building. We ought to just get out of that place."

This is the Ron Paul that makes sense to me. I could never vote for him, but these words are welcome.

I'm not sure what the objection to those quotes are...

...I mean, are you just against the guy because he's a Republican? Cuz if those quotes are all you got, you might want to get your head out of your ass. What the hell do you want him to say? "I'll make sure you never have to do any work and everything is free"? I'd prefer he ran as an Independant because I detest both major parties, but it sounds like your reponse here is knee-jerk at best.

Kucinich should abandon the MIC-Democratic party, and Paul should abandon the MIC-Republican party, and together go head to head with the Foreign Policy/MIC-CIA/Unitary Executive/Consensual Crime Wars!!!

Popular backing from across the political spectrum of desperate Americans clinging to our foundational notions of Liberty and Justice for all will be in your pocket!

There will be no need for beltway/Wall Street backers because the passion and the numbers will support you.

This ticket will trumpet around the world instantly and break the Karl Goebbels Rove Machine and their MSM accomplices.

Time is short, there's nothing neocons won't do to hold onto their Trillion$ in Liberty, rrunning right over the majority of People on the planet.

I wonder if Bush is going to claim that Iran was behind Bhutto's assasination and use it as an excuse to attack. Or maybe the rationale will be more vague. Perhaps just that this is evidence that we need to stabilize the region.

Psychopathic cheney/bush will do anything they damn well please, whether it makes sense (or is even SANE) or not. They've built an unassailible defense perimiter of corrupt congresspeople, crooked judges, and vicious thugs around themselves, and are batting 1000 so far. It's obvious that they must be stopped and their rotten regime put into prison, yet NOTHING HAPPENS. The more the bushies get away with, the bolder and crazier they become. Who knows what's on their diseased minds, now? Can we afford to wait and find out?

Looks as if the CIA had a hand in the Bhutto Assassination

Did the U.S. have a hand in Bhutto's assassination? Time will reveal more details, but it is evident from various news stories that the Musharraf was willing to let the U.S. build installations in Pakistan whereas Bhutto was opposed. The CIA has an extremely long history of such actions around the world ostensibly to protect U.S. oil interests.

The well known Israeli-based web site Debka has revealed that Pakistan's General Musharraf had agreed to US intelligence agencies’ need for a presence in Pakistani territory for gathering intelligence on Iran’s nuclear installations and in case of a decision to mount a military operation against Tehran.

"There are strong intimations that Musharraf has already agreed to assist America in this eventuality." the Debka-weekly-Net said in a special report on Pakistan and US relations.

Next to Musharraf, Bhutto was the best known political figure in the country, serving two terms as prime minister between 1988 and 1996. An instantly recognizable figure with graceful features under an ever-present head scarf, she bore the legacy of her hanged father and was respected in the West for her liberal outlook and determination to combat Islamic extremism.

It was a theme she had often returned to in recent campaign speeches.

Addressing more than 5,000 supporters Thursday in Rawalpindi, Bhutto dismissed the notion that Pakistan needed foreigners to help quell resurgent militants linked to the Taliban and al-Qaida in the area bordering Afghanistan.

"Why should foreign troops come in? We can take care of this, I can take care of this, you can take care of this," she said.

Her assassination will ensure that Musharraf will stay in power, perhaps, and that the U.S. will be able to continue to build it's presence in Pakistan.

...can pretty much do what they want because there is NO accountability by the congress which obviously includes the Democraps.

The house needs to be cleansed (which we know will not happen) and/or a third party formed that is truly progressive.

We Progressive Democrats need to not reject Ron Paul out of hand. Think of the obvious compromises that are required in a multi-party system like the parliamentary governements of Western Europe to form a majority.

We may have at hand the best chance for the establishment of a 3rd party that the US has ever had. So lets look beyond the quirkyness of Ron Paul long enough to see the fundamental issue that Progressives (vs Blue Dog Democrats) have in common with the Libertarians. Civil rights are the primary value for both. Let Hillary and Joe Liebermann lead the Blue Dog Dems formally into the Republican party. Let Paul's middle and working class constituents find their true self interest and vote it.

Example of needed strategy:

Reflect for a moment on the loss of the longest running democracy in world history, USA. It is gone despite the best efforts of J. Edgar Hoover, Rev. Haggard, Ken Mehlman, Glen Murphy Jr. (see: for the out of the closet Republican policy of using gay marriage to discredit the clueless Dems.), Mark Foley, Larry Craig, Bob Allen, etc., etc...

Democrats need to understand that gays are not a constituency of the Democratic party. Sexual politics have little, except for distortion and propaganda to do with partisan politics and the Dems need to dump its ownership of this issue. They don't own it. The Progressives don't have to take on each and every specific issue of the general concern; only the spirit of expressing humanity and love of life and one another. We make ourselves vulnerable to the repressives of spirit by letting the red flag issues dominate the political soap box. Right now we have lost the Supreme Court for any meaningful checks and balances and for even fair election guarantees.

We simply don't have the luxury to emphasize the hot button issues, re; gay marriage; its nothing but an embarrassment and alienates untold numbers of pre-literate working class voters who are trying to figure out how to vote their own interests. (Clue-not Republican)

There has been a bloodless coup going on and we are at war. Our last chance for an electoral reversal is 2008. We must strategize and it is very difficult when we have the Blue Dog Dems with us being led by a woman, Hillary Clinton. Love your enemy but don't give away the farm.

Consider alliance with Ron Paul as has Kucinich. Could we win an election with Ron Paul as running mate with Edwards or Obama? Better yet, Ron Paul for Secretary of State and Defence! His foreign policy mind set is the equal of any Democratic candidate.
