Earlier this week, former Halliburton/KBR employee Jamie Leigh Jones revealed that in 2005 she had been "raped by multiple men at a KBR camp" in Baghdad. For the past two years, her congressman, Rep. Ted Poe (R-TX), has been pushing the federal government to investigate the matter, but he "says neither the department of State nor Justice will give him answers" on the status of the investigation.

On CNN's Lou Dobbs' Tonight last night, Poe said that he does "not think this is an isolated case" and encouraged "other victims to notify" his office:

DOBBS: Now I know you've written a letter to the U.S. attorney general, Michael Mukasey, seeking his intervention in this case. Is there anything the audience of this broadcast can do so assist you?

POE: Yes, exactly. There's something you can do. We do not think this is an isolated case of sexual assault against American citizens in Baghdad by coworkers. We want the other victims to notify my office immediately.

Frustrated by the government's inaction, Jones is now taking her case to the civil court system, but KBR is pushing for it to be heard in "private arbitration," without a "public record or transcript." Halliburton has "won more than 80 percent of arbitration proceedings brought against it."

Beyond Poe, Jones' cause has been taken up by Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) and Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), who both wrote to Attorney General Michael Mukasey urging him to investigate her claims. Yesterday, the House Judiciary Committee announced that it will hold a hearing on Jones' allegations next Wednesday.

in anything regarding Iraq. When we invaded and took control Herr Bremer, our main man in Iraq, imposed draconinan laws upon the Iraqis. One of the main ones is that any American or employee of an American company cannont be tried for crimes commited in the war zone. (This is similar to the SOFA agreements we force down other countries throats). This is the basis for the Hal/KBR garbage about no trial and getting an Arbiter and all the rest of the crap. You can't hold conquerors responsible for their actions for they are gods in their own minds. Especially these demented, warped predators upon humanity. We are no better than the terrorists in all too many cases.

I have a 22 year old daughter and I would not let it rest if it took every penny and breath to really find out what happened. What hateful, perverted people we have controlling Iraq. I bet her father is proud of Amerika. I wonder if he dreams of retribution and commiting some crimes of his own? I know I would.

The Sheep better look up soon. Next time it could be your daughter.

We also know that the male troops savagely rape their sisters in arms and get promoted for their attacks on the female troops.

I assisted in a rape case involving the officer corps in 2004 where a male officer raped a female officer in Iraq. He got promoted. Her career was ended by the brass because she filed charges! That: IS POLICY. Of course; raping and murdering Iraqi civilians IS ENCOURAGED!

It is not hard to imagine that these Halliburton employees have been promoted or transferred as a reward for their "outstanding job performance" just as they are when they shoot up Iraqi families on the road or stop for some target practice on a Baghdad street.

Since they are Cheney stooges: they are above the law in all respects.

Perhaps we should begin identifying halliburton employees and post their personal data on the web. Maybe someone who did not receive justice in our corrupt system; will find it another way?

Murder, rape, theft of taxpayer funds, steroid use, lies...The list goes on and on. Don't forget that these private contractors will return to our soil. That is a very scarry thought.

compassionate conservative coalition of right wing Christian, Jesus freaks (wouldn't he be pleased). The time is rapidly approaching for a plurality of Americans (it will never be a majority - too many chickens) to take to the streets and take back the country from the multi-nationals, the religious fruitcakes, the robber baron elites, the bloated "celebrities" and the brain-dead anti-humanists.

Why would Mr. Poe,the honerable representative from Houston, sit on this for 2 years?
Could it have just been out of respect for the victim's privacy?
But, if this had been a Democratic administration, in Somalia or Kosavo, I doubt if he would have been so subtle or patient.
