Faiz Shakir: The National Review suggests Huckabee's inability to afford "teams of advisers" and develop "carefully-thought-out policy positions" are to blame.

The Politico's David Paul Kuhn asked former Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-AR) what he thought of the new National Intelligence Estimate on Iran. Huckabee's response? Hasn't heard of it:

Reporter: I don't know to what extent you have been briefed or been able to take a look at the NIE report that came out yesterday ...
Huckabee: I'm sorry?
Reporter: The NIE report, the National Intelligence Estimate on Iran. Have you been briefed or been able to take a look at it -
Huckabee: No.
Reporter: Have you heard of the finding?
Huckabee: No.
UPDATE: The Chicago Tribune also has the story:
"I don't know where the intelligence is coming from that says that they suspended the program and how credible that is versus the news that they actually are expanding it," [Huckabee] said. "And then I've heard the last two weeks supposed reports that say that they are accelerating and could be having a reactor in a much shorter period of time than originally they thought."

UPDATE II: Hotline adds: "Huckabee's ignorance of the news of the day, which not only dominated the Democrats' debate here in town but also prompted a presidential press conference in response, came as Huckabee faced questioning about his foreign policy credentials on Don Imus's new show. Huckabee joked that he's 'not an expert... but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night' -- a play on a current silly ad for a motel."

UPDATE III: The National Review's Byron York suggests Huckabee's inability to afford "teams of advisers" and develop "carefully-thought-out policy positions" are to blame.

Digg!

He has heard the media propaganda spread by the white house... and doesn't know whether to believe that... or the intelligence agencies who study this specifically. That says a whole damned lot about either A. his media savvy (he doesn't seem to have any if this is the case) or B. how beholden he is to following what Bush says without question.

Hey, if Jesus doesn't personally tell Huckabee something (say, over a cellphone), then Huckabee doesn't hear it.

Crazy people running for office, I mean. How does a grown man have the nerve to get up in front of an entire country and pull this off? If crazy isn't enough to make him go away, what about stupid? Haven't we learned over the last 8 years that the White House is not a place to 'find yourself' or deal with your demons. It's serious stuff not comedy. Thanks, ANNA

Is there any US news organ of any consequence which has not given {front-page/lead-story} space to the NIE on Iran? Jeez... Vote Huckabee: the candidate of arrogant ignorance!

I can only pray that the latest revelations about his role in freeing a rapist who went om to rape and murder not one but two victims will do his camapign in . However to do this the facts must be KNOWN and sadly I doubt the media is up to the task . We didn't hear much about Bush's service record or his DWI but heard all sorts of lies about Gore and Kerry .
I can only hope that if Mike Hickabee does become the nominee the Democrats use this incident as the Bush41 camp did Willie Horton

.........read the papers? Maybe he's functionally illiterate like G. Worthless, or maybe he just doesn't give a crap about what's really going on. Either way he's a perfect Refucklican candidate.
