Giuliani's Al Qaeda Connections; Ron Paul's Fundraising Buoyed By Stolen Credit Cards

Ron Paul has NO connection to these thieves who made donations to his campaign. But it seems Rudy Guiliani has some connections to real Al Qaeda terrorists.

OK, maybe it was a hundred thieves. Turns out part of that big fundraising extravaganza that got all sorts of publicity for the Paul campaign the other day (Richard reported it) came from stolen credit cards. Of course the Paul campaign was honest and gave the money back to the bank. No, this only reflects well on the Paul campaign. Seems some theives in Europe were testing the stolen cards and decided a Republican political campaign was as good a place as any to see if the cards worked. Let's be sure to note this barely dents that huge fundraising from the Paul campaign. But I'm a bit stunned at this comment from the Paul campaign. From CBSNews:

Added Paul spokesman Jesse Benton: "Ron Paul does not have anything to do with this."

Did Ron Paul hire idiots as spokespeople? This guy, by denying, puts a hint of wrongdoing where it simply never was. Of course Ron Paul had nothing to do with this! What an incompetent spokesman is Jesse Benton.

As it turns out, while Ron Paul may have no connection to identity theives, old Rudy Guiliani has huge connections to Al Qaeda. It has to do with that security firm Rudy ran after he left as Mayor of New York, and from which Rudy still recieves a paycheck. From Radar Online:

Following earlier reports that Giuliani was still getting paid by the consulting firm he created, Mary Jacoby of the Wall Street Journal sheds light on some potentially problematic sources of Giuliani's private income. Chief among them is Qatar, the U.S. ally that paid Giuliani Partners for "security advice" regarding their petroleum facilities. The article uncovers a "potential political pitfall" for Giuliani's candidacy and image given Qatar's spotty record in fighting Al Qaeda, but it stops short of explicitly addressing an aspect of the business arrangement that could dog Giuliani during his quest for the presidency.

Specifically, the ostensible chief consumer of Giuliani's security advice in this case would be Qatar's internal security ministry--currently headed by a known Al Qaeda associate.

As Radar reported earlier this year, Qatar Interior Minister Abdullah bin Khalid Al-Thani has long had ties to top Al Qaeda operatives including Osama Bin Laden, and is believed by many U.S. officials to have personally arranged the narrow escape of Al Qaeda big-wig Khalid Sheikh Mohammed from U.S. agents in 1996, thereby ensuring his freedom to mastermind the 9/11 attacks.

That Wall Street Journal article is here. I've not enough time to vet it much, but these two pieces seem to give the lie, once again, to Rudy's claim of mastery at fighting terrorism. As I mentioned to my wife the other night, Rudy can legitimately claim to be an expert at disaster recovery. I'm just afraid he is so inexperienced on the international stage that he'll attract those disasters to us.

Were it me, I'd far rather be voting for Ron Paul, even with his naive and incompetent spokespeople, than for Rudy Guiliani who claims to fight terrorism while cozying up to the terrorists. And this doesn't even mention Rudy's good buddy Bernard Kerik, now indicted. Between Ron Paul and Rudy Guiliani it's a very clear choice.

Rudy Giuliani is one of the worst people in the world. He's a proven liar, obfuscator, coward, adulterer, moral sleazeball, equivocator, thief and just plain over-ambitious dickhead. Why anyone would be stupid enough to vote for him for any public office after what he's done as mayor of NY and since, I can't imagine. Rudy in a dress, getting kissed on the lips by Donald Trump - now that's a picture for a future postage stamp!

Instead of buying into the nighmare scenario of the neocons, we should be trying to wake up. Reporting on Giuliani is good but, for goodness' sake, let's make note that there was no Al Qaeda before 9/11, at least as an organization. By maintaining there is, you simply keep the nightmare going, like the pink bunny. It would be more appropriate to say that Giuliani has ties to right wing fundamentalist Islam. But... which is better, Islam or Israel?

As bad an image as rudy in drag is, just take a moment and picture him in an SS uniform. The quintessential gestapo member. Frightning to say the least.

Just the HINT of a tie between Guiliani and Al Queda means that he can be picked up off the street, transferred to Gitmo and interrogated as an enemy combatant. Woo Hoo. Pick him up. Ship him out. He can find out first hand whether waterboarding is torture.

Giuliani or Paul?

Listen up Mr Reynolds. Rudy or Ron Paul, either one would be a disaster for all of us. Rudy is an outright crook and Paul is naive.Worse yet Paul is a libertarian believer in the no government is good government theory and Rudy would be worst than The Decider and his handler Cheney combined. What's say we not even entertain such a catastrophe as either of these losers for president. Then you have Fred Thompson. Get real,LOL. Romney? Come on now. If I were a republican I think I would lean to Mike Huckabee. He may at least have a conscience, something lacking in republicans in general. Liberalism is sweeping the country. It took way too long to happen but the movement must be recognized and taken advantage of now. Strike while the iron is hot. America's middle classes have been screwed for the last twenty five years and we need some comeuppance. National health care, the tax code and lending laws must be revamped and returned to sanity. That means if you made millions or billions you will pay a lot in taxes but you will still have a lot of money. I know, boo hoo, waaaaa. The social security money which has been borrowed (stolen) must be repaid with interest. The defense industry must be trimmed. Why do we spend more than the rest of the world combined. It isn't for defense, it's for aggression and to support republican donors. Republicans and the neo cons in particular have ruined the U.S. Lets all work to take back what is rightfully ours.

Why does Alternet keep giving ron paul so much publicity? Seriously?

Perhaps that's what attracks so many ron paul trolls to Alternet. Almost no publicity for Kucinich or Gravel, very little for Edwards. Lots and lots for ron paul. What's wrong here?

If terrorism is the actions of a one group to frighten another group by threats of death and destruction, and if Guilliani is complicit in the 911 terrorist attack (and his actions, words, and his destruction of forensic evidence at the scene of the crime seem to suggest this), then he is the one to be feared, not some cave-dwelling wannabes.

on 9/11, unavailable to the American people and the lazy good for nothing media in this country, Rudy would have been a blip on the scene. Rudy was accessable, and the media, being too lazy to do their jobs, found the easiest source they could-rudy. He had been a terrible mayor up to 9/10 and it is interesting that the people in NYC, who know him best, do not support him. Only those he has been able to bullsh-- see him as a credible candidate. And the American people are as stupid and lazy as our media. So that is what you get.
