Pat Robertson Endorses Rudy Giuliani

Wow. Talk about hypocrites.

Pat Robertson is supposed to be having a press conference at 930a EST to announce his support of Guiliani per MSNBC, not online yet.

This just proves they really don't have any core values and they'll just throw any morals under the bus to make sure they keep power. Rudy Giuliani, pro-choice, pro-gay, thrice married with all sorts of dubious connections the Evangelical choice. Hope the real Christians take this as a wake-up call.

**UPDATE**

Found it at the WaPo-

Pat Robertson To Endorse Giuliani
Pat Robertson, one of the most influential figures in the social conservative movement, will announce his support for Rudy Giuliani's presidential bid this morning in Washington, D.C., according to sources familiar with the decision.
Pat Robertson's endorsement of Rudy Giuliani is a significant blow to Mitt Romney, who has worked hard to court evangelical leaders. Robertson's support was coveted by several of the leading Republican candidates and provides Giuliani with a major boost as the former New York City mayor seeks to convince social conservatives that, despite his positions on abortion and gay rights, he is an acceptable choice as the GOP nominee.

UPDATE: Robertson Endorses Giuliani -- Without Mentioning Abortion

The morning buzz is centering on televangelist Pat Robertson's endorsement of Rudy Giuliani. Finally, Giuliani's campaign hopes to communicate, the thrice-married, traditionally socially liberal Catholic is making headway within the Christian conservative base of his party.

But wait just a minute. Look at Robertson's endorsement sent out by Giuliani's campaign:
"It is my pleasure to announce my support for America's Mayor, Rudy Giuliani, a proven leader who is not afraid of what lies ahead and who will cast a hopeful vision for all Americans," said Pat Robertson. "Rudy Giuliani took a city that was in decline and considered ungovernable and reduced its violent crime, revitalized its core, dramatically lowered its taxes, cut through a welter of bureaucratic regulations, and did so in the spirit of bipartisanship which is so urgently needed in Washington today."

What's missing here? No discussion of abortion, Giuliani's ability to protect the sanctity of marriage, or even vague references to the "values" issues so important to social conservatives. Although Robertson seems to be endorsing Giuliani as an economic conservative, it's not at all clear he really believes Giuliani can connect with Christian voters on the issues of most importance to them.

Digg!

So... since Ghoulliani supports gay rights... doesn't that mean Robertson is supporting one of the causes of 9-11 (by his own logic) by supporting him?

But as it has always been for people like Pat... morals and values are just things you have for what other people do... not things you are supposed to follow yourself or ask that those you support follow.

The rampant, innate hypocrisy of all religions is exemplified most by the "born again" evangelical Christians (who preach "right to life", but death to non-believers). Even more so than by the pedophile supporting, misogenist Catholics or the "death to the infidels" Muslims and "we are the chosen people" Jews. Religion is anathema to intellect, science, and human progress and civilization.

...even He can't believe his own bullshit.

Somehow, the Moral Majority manages to fool millions of people. Robertson can't possibly believe in God.

Shame on Rudy. I can understand guys hooking up with ugly girls at closing time, but this is insane.

Remeber his advocating murder because he did not like a man's politics? Maybe Rudy should fear this endorsement.

Is anyone surpised at anything that Phoney Robertson does? This is the phoney who raised money "for relief of poor Africans" but used the money to puchase diamonds in Sierra Leone.

Pat was just getting too expensive to maintain, so his organization outsourced his position to an offshore clone supplier -- without checking the replacement's backside for that 666 tattoo.

According to an important article written by Professors Nicholas A. Valentino and David O. Sears - "Old Times There Are Not Forgotten: Race and the Partisan Realignment in the Contemporary South ( American Journal of Political Science Vol. 49, No. 3, July 2005) "the association between racial conservatism and Republican partisanship has strengthened over time in the South, both in absolute terms and relative to the rest of the country." [Ibid] In addition, "negative black stereotypes are associated significantly with Republican party identification and Republican vote choice in the South ...." [p. 683]
Giuliani's amazing strength among GOP polls and spokesmen can only be explained by the fact he must be perceived as the most racist candidate the Repugs have to offer. He's the most radical of the racist coded GOP tenets; law-and-order, welfare-cheat proclaimers, John Wayne phony macho bellicosity and thus it doesn't matter that he's against every plank in their supposed platform...i.e. anti-gays, anti-gun control, anti-choice,fundamentalist gospel born-again hucksterism. I would agree their incredibly successful " southern strategy " devised by Nixon's group of cretins to insure angry southern racist red-necks would be loyal Repugs has solidly secured the racist bigot vote in our region. The sadness is that the Red State Blight has so infected the rest of our nation that it enabled an amoral moron to be elected twice. Giuliani might well present them a trifecta.

Robertson like Hagee like Jerry Falwell like....

Jerry Falwell is a great example for Robertson to emulate and so Pat has. Falwell took a $68 million donation from Syung Myung Moon the Moonie cult founder who claims to be Jesus' second coming, etc. to help bail out his Liberty College as reported by Consortium for Independent Journalism investigative reporter, Robert Parry. So with Falwell, the Bush family and Moon in the same bed, what is so surprising about Robertson and Giuliani??

It is axiomatic that the Evangelical right has an agenda where theology is a distant second priority to politics of corporatism.

So google, Rev. Hagee AIPAC and Hillary Clinton AIPAC to see how the Christian right's Christian Zionism writes the agenda for our future nuclear war with Iran. Note the same rhetoric of sound bites in their respective speeches to AIPAC!
