This post, written by Howie Klein, originally appeared on Down With Tyranny!

What ever happened to the good old days when war profiteers and traitors undermining our soldiers in the field were put against a wall and shot? (Yes, unlike many of my liberal pals, I'm a death penalty fanatic-- although just when the punishment fits the crime-- like in the case of the Bush Regime cronies who have long and solid records of treasonous criminality.)

David Brooks is probably best known, in our shallow, celebrity-obsessed society, for the lavish and grotesque bat mitzvah be threw for his daughter Liza at the Rainbow Room in 2005. Aside from 50 Cent (for the kids) his own middle-aged friends were entertained by middle aged rockers Aerosmith (who were paid a million dollars for the show), as well as Tom Petty, Kenny G and the Eagles. I can't imagine that the Eagles or Tom Petty took less than the fee Aerosmith got since they all share the same manager. I don't know much about Kenny G. but I suspect he got more than your average bat mitzvah band even if his music sounds just like your average bat mitzvah band's.

But it isn't the $10,000,000 tax deductible, company-paid bat mitzvah, the $194,000 Bentley, the stable of 100 race horses, the $100,000 diamond-studded belt buckle and numerous other egregious instances of fashion crimes or even more shameful manifestations of the sybartic lifestyle the Bush tax breaks for multimillionaires encourages. It's how he made all that loot.

Now, keep in mind that when Brooks was in business with the Bush Regime, making defective body armor for our troops on the front lines, he gave the National Republican Campaign Committee a nice fat check for $25,000, much less than he paid Kenny G to wow his friends at the notorious bat mitzvah the same year, but still, something the Republicrooks were happy to see come there way. He got plenty of business... unfortunately.

According to yesterday's NY Post it was our troops who got the shitty end of that Republican stick. Brooks reaped $185 million by selling his company's stock "when he learned that 6,000 bullet-proof vests the company made were about to be recalled for being faulty and not able to block bullets."

UPDATE: STILL SPENDING BIG

Brooks retained Joe Tacopino as his $750-an-hour attorney. Radar tells us he was the subject of a March 2007 GQ profile titled 1-800 Save My Ass. "Tacopino also defended the Dutch kid held in the disappearance of Aruba blondie Natalee Holloway, the cop charged with sticking a plunger up Abner Louima's ass, and Foxy Brown."

a tax deductable BUSINESS expense . If that doesn't show us what is wrong with our Tax Code NOTHING will

I too agree with the point that we SHOULD shoot WAR Profiteers especially guys like this who actively endanger our service men and women . At the very least send him Iraq for an extended tour wearing his defective Body Armor

country-club prison where he will only 'network' with the other embellzers, corrupt politicians, and crooks. Selling defective body-armour, just when you thought these types couldn't get more base and evil. What's next fake baby formula, fake HIV drugs, known defective medical devices? Whoops, they've done that stuff also. They better throw the proverbial book at this guy. I hope his daughter had a nice Baht-mitsva with the blood-money.....

May he and all others like him burn in hell - but first may he and all others like him get prosecuted and punished severely for their crimes against our troops and our country. That includes Haliburton.

Offer him an option... No jail time, but he has have his home, cars, property, money, etc.. confiscated then has to join the military and do as many tours as a frontline soldier in Iraq as they tell him to... wearing his company's body armor. He gets a job so he can support his daughter.. you know.. just like all the folks whose lives his company endangered while he listened to private concerts.

The Only One?

Am I the ONLY one who finds Tom Petty, The Eagles, Kenny G, the Eagles and Aerosmith as guilty as Brooks? They did not bat an eye about performing for such an absurd amount of money, though that money is blood money - looks like a duck, talks like a duck and walks like a duck ... oh well. Rock stars really have no opinion, which is evidenced by the obscene ticket prices they demand from loyal fans who put them on the charts in the first place. The almighty dollar speaks to the hearts of these people well beyond the lost lives of US Soldiers. Remember this when you are thinking about picking up the latest release from these artists ... I say we boycott all these artists until they give a damn ... they are no better than GW ... or Cheney

I excluded 50 cent from my rant, because he has never made any bones about being in it for the money ...

It's at a spot so popular amongst many of his rich, arrogant friends.

It's the hot, hot, hot location of choice.

In fact, it's in the same spot where any war profiteer (especially from this war) has a reservation:

......in HELL!

And Brooks and all other war profiteers can all rot there!

punishment for republicrooks

i dont think they should get any jail time. Its a federal country club. I think that the proper punishment, if we can ever bring them to justice (another fantasy), would be to remand them to a life on welfare and living in the projects in Chicago, DC, Baltimore (somewhere where it snows). They may not recieve gifts or anything of value from family or friends. Case worker will home visit them frequently. But FIRST, they must go through the application process-an exasperating, humilating, frustrating process that in itself drives one to insanity. If they succeed, and end up in the projects, they will die of high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, or catch a bullet from some gangster before they get too old. It will cost less than a life time imprisonment and be far more fitting.
