Pam Spaulding: The freeper fantasy candidate's pre-programmed answers on same-sex marriage didn't exactly help him out this time.

Bipartisan Concern About the Dangers of McPalin’s Hate-Mongering

Freeper fantasy candidate Fred Thompson's pre-programmed answers on same-sex marriage ("those activist judges!") didn't exactly help him out when asked about New Hampshire's new civil unions law, and the possibility of a federal CU. He blew a circuit. (AP):

Edward Paul, an employee of the Delta Dental Plans Association, asked the question Monday, but had trouble being understood.

"I'm proud to say that in January 2008 New Hampshire has passed a law facilitating civil unions here. ... What is your belief for federal civil unions to be passed?" Paul asked.

"Soviet Union?" Thompson responded.

"No, civil unions," Paul said.

"Oh. No, I would not be in support of that," Thompson said.

Thompson then went on to talk about marriage, since he had that answer in RAM:

"Basically so far, it is a judge-made controversy," Thompson said. "No state or governor has signed off on such legislation on the state level that has endorsed marriage between the same sexes. There may have been a couple of courts that said the Constitution of their states has required that, so it's a judicially made situation as far as I am concerned."

...Paul said he wasn't surprised, or impressed. "I think he needs to do more homework on whatever state he's in and I don't think he did on that question," said Paul. He said he is a registered independent who plans to vote in the Democratic presidential primary.

The Fraud Of Fraud
The process of turning ACORN into a terrorist sleeper cell has begun and I see little hope that they aren't going to be successful.

This is no doubt one of the ugliest periods in American political history.

... because, of course.. as we all know.... judges are nothing but a big problem, not an actual branch of our government that has a power and duty, that duty being to interpret law.

How dare they do their jobs!!!!

This is the kind of handle-senior-dementia-with-care service you get when your campaign management staff consists of Spencer Abraham (deputy chief of staff for VP Dan Quayle), and Bill Lacy (White House director of political affairs for Preznit Reagan).

"Fred, how do you spell Soviet Union?"

"Uh, p-o-t-a-t-o...e... uh... did somebody say vodka?"

"Thompson Confuses Civil Unions With Soviet Union"

How could someone confuse the two? Everyone knows the Soviets were the "Red's" and the Civil Unions wore blue and grey. :P

NH Civil union didn't need a judge

One of the main reasons Fred "flintstone" Thompson was wrong on this is that New Hampshire, where he was speaking when he made the statement, is the only state in the union that passed a Civil Union law with NO judicial arm twisting. Our state government did it because it was the right thing to do, not because there was a pending lawsuit.

Reportedly, Fred sees his trophy wife and second family as a do-over after his older daughter committed suicide. If he felt a need to replace his daughter, why didn't he just adopt Jeri instead of marrying her?

What's with the O'Reilly-like personal attacks? Why a photo that brands Thompson a "dirty old man" just because he married a younger woman (by 24 years)? I guess that makes Dennis Kucinich an even dirtier old man, with his 31-year age difference between him and his beautiful "trophy" wife.

When are you going to lambaste Kucinich like you did Thompson? Huh? Huh?

This kind of sleazy bullshit poisons Alternet and the whole Left. Judge Thompson on his politics, not his personal life.

Dirty Old Rich Men?

"Ole Fred opposes civil unions but he's ok with dirty old rich men marrying youngsters," reads the caption on the photo.

Pardon me for saying so, but isn't this an example of the sort of judgemental nonsense the article is opposed to?

Does the left wing now seriously propose that homosexual unions should be ok, but we should impose age restrictions on marriages and shun or punish those who violate them?

Where, exactly, should a voter go to express tolerance for adult choices, whatever they may be?
