Can we make it through one week without coming across a conservative or "Christian" perv? Not that it matters to me, it gives me an endless supply of material. It just astounds me that every time you turn around, the activities of pious people ready to judge others get caught with their moral pants down, sometimes literally.
Let's get to know A. Paul Carlock Jr., a Springfield, Illinois resident, former law enforcement officer, juvenile counselor, a minister at the Rosewood Heights Nazarene Church in East Alton -- and a"Christian clown" named Klutzo that performed for children.
He is also allegedly one sick puppy.
The 57-year-old Carlock, who's myriad of jobs includes performing locally as "Klutzo" the clown, was charged in federal court Tuesday with possessing child pornography and traveling to engage in sexual conduct with a minor.
... Until this week, however, Carlock had never been arrested or charged with any crime involving a child.
As Carlock was being released from a psychiatric facility Tuesday, federal authorities arrested him on charges that he went to the Philippines to photograph naked boys and that he had sexually abused three boys there.
Immigration and homeland security officials allegedly found pornographic photos on his digital camera and laptop computer as he returned to the United States in June.
When Filipino authorities questioned the victims, three said that Carlock trolled into their bedrooms at night and fondled them as they slept.
As reassurance to investigators, Carlock said he intended to delete the pornographic pictures of the boys on his laptop and camera when he returned stateside, but he just hadn't gotten around to it. Oh that clears up things, doesn't it?
This man was also hired to work at a day care center as well (he worked at a facility called Bright Beginnings for several months) -- all of the screenings came up clean, though in hindsight one mother noticed something odd.
"It's very strange, but he said he was interested in taking videos and photos of some of the kids, and he'd ask their parents if he could take videos of them at a playground and he'd put it to music. He'd play them at the day care," she said. "I never saw one of a girl, only boys."
As Klutzo the Clown, he billed himself as "available for vacation Bible schools, children's crusades, Sunday school, children's church, church parties... and more [which] can be used to present the gospel of Jesus Christ to your children."
Bonus stomach churner: Carlock's Amazon.com profile. I kid you not, he has a review of something called Peppermint:
Peppermint is a greek production providing a close look into growing up for both boys and girls. It also provides insights into the magic of first love and the the impact these memories have on our lives. Highly Recommended if you can find it.
and Goodnight, Mr. Tom:
The film, produced in England, is not only a great character study from many dimensions, it provides an uncanny look at the burgeoning relations between a boy and an elderly caretaker, both of whom are resistant to the arrangement. You will be enthralled and delighted at the lengths one will go to protect a bond that has finally flourished! Very Highly recommended!
Hat tip, BrgBuddy.
