Bush Confronted With Woman Wearing T-Shirt That Read: "Your War Killed My Friend's Son"

Fox News: 'McCain's TV Commercials Contain ... Out-Right Lies'
Steve Benen Washington Monthly

This post, written by GottaLaff, originally appeared on Cliff Schecter's Brave New Films Blog

W had to face off with a not-too-happy tee-shirt-wearing audience member in Pennsylvania:

Manheim Realtor Gerry Beane was the first to speak and said, "from man-to-man, taxpayer to president," he believes the United States needs to disengage from Iraq.

Beane sat next to Sherry Wolfe, who wore a pink T-shirt emblazoned with the words, "GEORGE BUSH YOUR WAR KILLED MY FRIEND'S SON."

More than 3,800 U.S. soldiers have died in Iraq since 2003, including the person referred to on Wolfe's T-shirt, Brent Adams of Mountville.

"Like you, I want them home," Bush said.

But by then, his bubble had effectively been popped. Next:

A 10th-grader asked Bush why he wouldn't sit down with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to negotiate a settlement of ongoing rhetorical hostilities.

Insert usual W comeback here, meaning this:

The president said he would have direct talks with Ahmadinejad only if Iran would forego its nuclear weapons program. Iran says it's developing nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

"In other words, it's his choice, not mine anymore," Bush said.

Of course it is, as long as he does things your way before you talk to him. How conducive to diplomacy, W. You sure know how to compromise.

You know what's pitiful? When a tee shirt has more on the ball than the President of the United States.

H/t to Froomkin.

Is Palin a Step Backwards for Women in Power?
Sarah Palin is a milestone, for we achieve true gender equality when an incompetent woman goes as far as an incompetent man.

I bet there is some staffer looking for a new job . How did this woman get in to see "the dear leader" ? Don't they know she should be denied entrance to any Bush event and placed in a "Free Speech" zone about a dozen miles away

And in Lancaster, PA of all places! I'm surprised they didn't have a wanding at the door everyone had to pass through to screen for a personal belief in Jesus Christ as their Personal lord and saviour... this is Lancaster, PA we're talking 'bout afterall. She certainly looks like a godless heathen... I'm sure the fired staffer is now in Gitmo enjoying the force-feeding via nose tube or something fun... or in hell via the fast-chute for not protecting Jesus... I mean, the Chimp. I heard there's such a chute for disposing of sinners just south of Shippensburg, PA....
