I Hate All Iranians, US Aide Tells MPs

By SIMON WALTERS

29th September 2007

British MPs visiting the Pentagon to discuss America's stance on Iran and Iraq were shocked to be told by one of President Bush's senior women officials: "I hate all Iranians."

And she also accused Britain of "dismantling" the Anglo-US-led coalition in Iraq by pulling troops out of Basra too soon.

The all-party group of MPs say Debra Cagan, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Coalition Affairs to Defence Secretary Robert Gates, made the comments this month.

No no, wait; that's not the story.

Here's the story: This is what the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Coalition Affairs to Defense Secretary Robert Gates looks like:

Wow, that is one of the most disturbing images I've seen. Tell me that is not the official press release file photo!
ps: I believe that cross around her neck is a "Knights of Malta" cross (which would be in agreement with her thoughts about Iran and/or Islam).

Looking at that picture, my knee-jerk reaction is; a deep schism has formed in her personality do to severe self-loathing resulting from decades of repressing latent homosexuality with some form of restrictive religious influence. I'm sure her father not only is a huge Republican donor but also wanted for cannibalizing Thai hookers. Either way the biological inability to empathize and/or a crippling inferiority complex is indicative of the modern conservative movement; that "woman" has it in spades. Either that or she just came from the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Why in the world do all of you feel that commenting on a person's appearance is any form of valuable discourse? I guess Hillary's cleavage and Edwards's haircuts pass for in-depth political discussion in your (red)neck of the woods. Get a life - you can all share one and possibly that way come up with a thought worth sharing.

come now. like you didn't think so yourself. finger pointer! that is a hideous woman with masculine features. a child would notice that. pointing out the obvious is a little bit off sport but waking up to that in bed beside me, i'd think to myself: which corleone did i piss off? i mean, jeez, we all thought camilla was a horse face. mary, mother of god, wife of joseph! as her father i would have taken her out and shot her, out of mercy. christ! my grandmother, when she was sober, would say to the neighbor kids: i know it's not yer damn fault yer so ugly, but you little bastards could at least stay indoors, so the rest of us don't have to look at ya!

it's her own fault.

i mean, if she just accepted the more stringent form of islam she could just cover that up and we'd all be happy.

and why is she wearing a scarf around her neck? tell me that. and in the other picture (link in other comments, you find it yerself). she's got the scar covered.

it's a dude.

what were you saying?

anti-Iranian remarks

To gloss over hate speech to focus on personal appearance is petty, immature, irrelevant and supercilious. She is not as repulsive as her hate-speech or the taste of he who posted this. I question someone's editorial wisdom in publishing this.

I think you guys covered the looks thing. Let me comment on her comments. Who in the hell does she think she is; and why is she working for the Secretary of Defense? With comments like hers, we could well be on our way to WW III. First she attacks an entire country by saying she hates all Iranians, when it was the revolutionary guard who took our people hostage under the orders of their favorite religious leader Khomeini. Did she not know that with in the borders of the US we have Iranian-American citizens? Then she insults the British for saying, well it was fun, but you made this mess, we are leaving. Yea she is typical of the Bush administration, another asshole without qualifications. And I had such high hopes for Mr. Gates; maybe she has other attributes; like the transgender vote for the GOP. Sorry, I just had to go there!

Shameful reporting

I fail to see how the physical appearance of this woman has any bearing on the situation mentioned above.

Whatever she may look like, the point is that she has blatantly expressed a racist attitude (no doubt shared by many others within the Bush government and the ruling class of the USA) that will likely continue to be propagated throughout various government institutions and the "free" press to eventually justify a war against our Iranian brothers and sisters.

I find it absolutely ludicrous that Alternet says it "will not tolerate...racist, sexist, or other discrimninatory or hateful language", and then allows one of it's writers to deflect attention away from racism using VERY obvious sexist tactics.

And yet, there seem to be many readers willing to jump on the bandwagon.

How disappointing.

Ms. Cagan's looks are not the issue and should have NOTHING to do with the comments about what she said. Shame on all of you who think it is okay to comment on this aspect when the real issue is the abhorent thing that she said. Even if this is her misguided personal opinion, NO ONE in our government should speak that nonsense publicly. Would the comment have been more palatable had it been spoken by a Angelina Jolie or some other beauty? Then lay off her looks!

that she received that night.

A pretty prestigious award however, that offers no excuse for her comments...

What she said is dispicable and it's an outrage that she is an aid to Gates. (Though - Am I surprised?) It also shows how this administration has encouraged a growing bigotry in this country that's becoming more and more acceptable to the Republican base.

As far as her looks....

Every guide I've ever read that teaches how one should dress to report for a job interview would use everything about her as a perfect example of what not to wear. She breaks every rule. Hair, make-up, clothes. What's she doing in a high-profile job, representing the United States? One may not choose one's physical looks, and individuality in dress is not necessarily a bad thing. But in her job/position, it is beyond tasteless to the point of being bizarre, which makes it all the more scary that she has the position she has. And all the less surprizing that she holds the views she holds. And is stupid enough to express them.

Although "Debra" looks debonair, her/his comments aren't surprising. Don't most Amerikkkans ususally follow their leaders--irregardless of immoralities?
She/he probably has never met or seen an Iranian, nor has one ever done anything to damage her/his life, or anyone close to her's/his?
Then too, her/his payback may be like Chaundry levy's. Ms/Mr. Debra may also be an on the side mistress.
