Former "Evening News" Dan Rather choked back tears on several occasions today when discussing his decision to file a lawsuit against CBS and he left many audience members with a sense that he may call President George W. Bush as a witness should the lawsuit proceed to trial (and Rather said he hoped it would).
How sweet would that be? The article goes on to say that Rather doesn't dismiss calling GWB & GHWB to testify.

Words can't describe the joy I am feeling right now. Nothing would be better than getting those men in court. But, something tells me if it ever came to that, Dan would get in an "accident" or something.

More from the Examiner:

In the lawsuit, Rather claims he was unjustifiably squeezed out of CBS by network executives following a 2004 story about President Bush's service record in the Texas Air National Guard. After evidence emerged that the story's primary documents were possibly faked or forged, Rather stated on air that "if I knew then what I know now, I would not have gone ahead with the story as it was aired, and I certainly would not have used the documents in question."
Joynt asked Rather if he believes the president hates him, and Rather responded by saying that "hate is a strong word." Then, he began to well up. "You've never met anybody who had more respect for the presidency than I do," said Rather, choking back tears. He stood by his 2004 story, saying "we got the truth, but we left ourselves vulnerable."

Dan Rather was demoted-fired. His boss was promoted. That looks too obvious to me. Rather was set up.

Its not complicated. Its the oldest ploy in the law. Its the straw man. Set up a dose of false evidence that you can clearly disprove. Then disprove it. By this time everybody has forgotten the original guilt. Enough people "forgot" that George Bush really did skip out on the National Guard. They elected him. Dan Rather was just ''collateral damage''.

I think Dan Rather has figured it out. I think that eventually he will be proud that he fought back. When you are wronged if you don't fight you lose self respect. It is better to lose proudly, openly and honestly, than to tuck tail and run. Lets hear it for Dan.

Expose the corruption that lies within? Bush can't risk that...

Instinctively, you just know what's going to happen with this. It will never make it to trial. An out-of-court "settlement"? This would, and could, open a sore of corruption that George Bush MUST silence before it even bleeds!

A few choice quotes from BBC investigative reporter Greg Palast back in June 2006:

During the Vietnam War, our future President flew in the Texas Air National Guard protecting Houston from Viet Cong attack. Our President obtained that job the same way he got the current one: The fix was in.

Congressman Poppy Bush, said Rather, put in the fix for his son, despite Junior's too-dumb-to-fly test scores, by putting in a call to the head of the Texas Air Guard via Texas Lt. Governor Ben Barnes. That's what Dan Rather reported on 60 Minutes, that Bush Jr. got the Texas top gun post, and thereby dodged the draft and the bullets of Vietnam. It was a hell of a scoop and his network rewarded him and his producer, Mary Mapes, by firing their sorry asses.

But there's much, much more to the story than Rather had cojones to report...during that campaign [for Governor of Texas], Bush was asked if his father...had helped him get in the National Guard. Bush said no he had not, but the fact is his dad called then-Lt. Gov. Barnes...the war hero Governor's team made damn sure that no harm came to Barnes and his business associates. The Governor talked to the chair of the lottery two days later...the Chairwoman? Harriet Miers.

The story that cannot be reported is not about George Bush's special treatment but about the special treatment of the specially privileged. The real story, for me, is that Little George was just one of a dozen privileged princelings saved from the dangers of their powerful daddies' wars.

Just a few excerpts...but you get the ugly idea.
