This sickening story comes from Texas, where "family values" reign.

A Navarro County man is a suspect in the death of 6-year-old Hannah Mack who was found hanged Monday inside her family's garage, a sheriff's department official said Thursday.

Kevin Anders was identified as the live-in boyfriend of the girl's mother, Chief Deputy Mike Cox said at press conference in Corsicana. Anders, however, was arrested on a charge of possession of child pornography and was being held Thursday at the Navarro County Jail, Cox said. The man's bail was set at $100,000, he said.

Cox added that Anders also was the "current primary suspect" in the case.

Investigators have said the girl had been sexually assaulted before she died. He mother found her Monday morning hanging inside the family's garage, according to reports. "I will confirm that the hanging and sexual assault were part of this scenario," said Cox said Wednesday.

Will Gen. Jim Jones Be Obama's National Security Advisor?
Although not as bad as keeping Gates as Secretary of Defense it would still be a very disappointing selection.

Obama's (Rumored) Pick for Secretary of the Treasury Makes Wall Street Happy
He's going to be the Secretary of the Treasury in the midst of a financial crisis, so it's probably worth taking the time to get to know him.

The only good part of this story is that it happened in Texas. If this guy is guilty he stands a good chance at sitting in 'ole sparky. I would be the first on line to volunteer to throw the switch. Don't bother telling be about the cruel nature of the death penalty. I have a six year old daughter. Anyone capable of doing this to a child has no place on this earth.

The problem is that this guy may end up using lots of taxpayer money to try and get off by appealing again and again. And the fact that we give people who get the death penalty the ability to appeal again and again is a good thing considering there are so many innocent people on death row. But people guilty of horrible crimes like this will use the system and our tax money. I think the better thing is to have no death penalty so that our money is not wasted and so that this evil evil person and others like him will have no hope of ever getting out of their miserable life in prison....and of course they should be kept from the vast majority of criminals who have not committed horrendous murderous crimes like this.

There is nothing good about a story like this. It simply reminds us that our society is deteriorating at an alarming rate.

The answer is not to be found in volunteering to flip the switch to kill someone. When you advocate for such action, you are forgetting the number of INNOCENT people who have been victims of state sponsored murder (especially in Texas). Recall how close Kenneth Foster came to being executed?

No amount of murder or mayhem can make up for this child's suffering and death. We must begin to look at the causes for all this, and take action where it is appropriate.

How many innocent Iraqi children do you suppose have been killed by the actions of our psychopathic president? Hannah's death is a horribly tragic thing but we simply have to stop thinking that the answer to everything is more death!!!

his possesion including such depravity as torture and rape of children as young as 6. Does this mean that the ACLU, or Virginia, is a bunch of perverts? Or, simply, that there are perverts everywhere? Here is the latest on this convinction on CBS news:

Capital Punishment as a Deterrent?

The truth of the matter is that evil exists and this criminal proves capital punishment is not deterrent to individuals evil enough to do this crime. If found guilty he should never see the light of day, but a quick painless death is too good for him. Let him live in the Texas penal system for the 99 years and a day. God I hope they do DNA so there is not doubt.

That seems insultingly low for a crime of this magnitude. I hope this guy ends up finding out how being sexually assaulted feels by getting a 250-lb muscle-bound, aggressively horny and violent cellmate.

However damming the initial circumstances, doesn't even Texas have to try him. It is dismaying that so many on a supposedly liberal site are willing to dispense with the legal processes and jump straight to wishing the punishment. Perhaps your crazy right wingers are not such an aberration.

It is so stupidly lame to see the writer and the Website make an issue out of the arbitrary fact that this happened in Texas. It pretty much proves point number 6 in this far more intelligent article from Cracked.

This event is not political; it is a matter of psycopathology. Try looking into organized sexual abuse of children by powerful politicians. That's much scarier, and would actually be deserving of placement on AlterNet.

Everyone seems to be upset at our troops dying in Iraq. Well we have over a million people in prisons right now. Most of them have good survival instincts and weapons training. Next time we decide to attack another country lets just put them all in planes and ship them over. Strap a chute to their back and hand them a rifle right before you kick them out the door. Presto! No more overcrowding and sucking up tax dollars! Plus a BONUS! No American troops dying needlessly for oil! We could conquer the whole middle east with pervert platoons, sicko squads, murdering marchers and deviate divisions. Gas will only be 50 cents a gallon so we can all take the hummers out of the garage!

Disclaimer: This is not a serious sugestion. Those of you without a sense of humor please refrain from the hate comments.
