Bush Plans To Install Inexperienced Crony As Homeland Security Chief

Posted by Pam Spaulding at 1:00 PM on August 27, 2007.

Pam Spaulding: Clay Johnson III went to both prep school and college with Bush and he may be put in charge of Homeland Security. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Bipartisan Concern About the Dangers of McPalin’s Hate-Mongering
Emptywheel Firedoglake

This post, written by Pam Spaulding, originally appeared on Pam's House Blend

If Gonzales is replaced by Homeland Insecurity head Michael Chertoff, CNN's sources say that DHS will be headed up by Clay Johnson III, the Deputy Director for Management at the Office of Management and Budget.

It would be yet another hack appointment, a friend of Bush, completely unqualified to defend the homeland, as it were. Think Progress:

Johnson, who has no homeland security experience, is a professional Bush loyalist. While Johnson may have familiarity with some aspects of DHS's budget, he appears to have no experience in the many responsibilities of the department, including immigration, air travel security, disaster response, and other aspects of our nation's homeland defense.

He is one of Bush's oldest friends, having attended both prep school and college with the President. Johnson served as Bush's gubernatorial chief of staff in Texas before heading up the Bush-Cheney transition team.

The Fraud Of Fraud
The process of turning ACORN into a terrorist sleeper cell has begun and I see little hope that they aren't going to be successful.

So what's new? Replace one croney with another then replace him with another croney. Isn't this part of the Bush master plan? Chertoff doesn't have the competence to manage the janitorial crew at the Justice Department and Johnson can't figure which end of the chewing gum stick should be opened first.

Yes, there is 17 months to go and so many school chums that are out of work. Does anyone ask why all these people are in need of work? Did their trust fund run out in the middle of having fun stealing from the little guy or are they just so in love with Bush that they would give up a moment of the lavish life for an overpaid position in name only because the little shrub has run out of real people to do the peoples work? Maybe Bush should see if his barber or butler needs a promotion. They may be qualified in Bush's mind to run Defense or State department. Maybe Barney needs work to suppliment what he gets for doing the White House Christmas videos.

Consistent with Bush's desire to implement a Soviet style political structure for the Executive branch he again appoints a political operative to cabinet status.
In effect, he institutionalizes incompetence.

Why can't Repugwicans use their brains, and hire the best and brightest for these jobs.

Guess it is because they dont know how to staff important jobs. They are all drilled in the Communist, er Repuglican party line, fill all the jobs with party hacks, and watch the meltdown begin. The Communist, er, Repuglican party should have seen that the Communist model didnt work, and wont work for them either.

Go hire the Best and Brightest, not the ones who will tell you what you want to hear.

Karl Rove's Sovietization of the Repugwican party is now beginning to bear bitter fruit.

... a mixture of cow shit, horse shit, bull shit, oil and barbecue has deep fried all of their brains. They all have spent too much time in the sun as well. The tinfoil parade from Texas is anathema to human life. The curse of oil has corroded their simple minds. Oil maybe a lubricant for machinery but it is death to all human life.

The Iraqis know that now and the Iranians are soon to learn, as the Texass death machine eats them up and bombs them to death.
