Racist Republican Rails Against Hindu Prayer in Senate

A few weeks ago, the Senate invited a Hindu leader to deliver the daily invocation. Apparently, this has sent Idaho's Bill Sali (R) over the edge.

"We have not only a Hindu prayer being offered in the Senate, we have a Muslim member of the House of Representatives now, Keith Ellison from Minnesota. Those are changes -- and they are not what was envisioned by the Founding Fathers," asserts Sali.

Sali says America was built on Christian principles that were derived from scripture. He also says the only way the United States has been allowed to exist in a world that is so hostile to Christian principles is through "the protective hand of God."

"You know, the Lord can cause the rain to fall on the just and the unjust alike," says the Idaho Republican.

According to Congressman Sali, the only way the U.S. can continue to survive is under that protective hand of God. He states when a Hindu prayer is offered, "that's a different god" and that it "creates problems for the longevity of this country."

Remember, as mcjoan noted, the GOP freshman picked this clown to be their class president. Classy.

You have to be either a "Co-k Sucker", or a "Bigot"... Based on recent findings, I guess the ideal rethug would be Both...

From Bollywood/Hollywood.

Mother: "All gods are equal"
Grandmother: "But Hindu gods are best!"

I am an atheist, but I am happy that Keith Ellison is my Representative. He is a true American unlike the highly self-righteous and bigoted Senator from Idaho.

And civily voiced my opinion that Sali is unaware that Freedom of Religion was a "founding fathers" issue as well and that his statement was bigoted and there is no room for it in America.

I was promptly told that I was the ONLY one who had called with a negative response.

Please call and civily voice your opinion.

I am lot more pissed about what he said than the title might elude to. I just called his office and told them so - expecting local spin-control to start sooon. This is not a surprise that he said something so bigoted and stupid. The only saving grace for us is that he was elected President of the GOP freshment representatives - he tarnishes them all.

Please understand that we are not the ignorant hicks that it might appear - it is just that somehow, the ignorant ones got into power and we cannot get rid of them in a timely fashion. Please do not hate Idahoans - we are not unenlightened bigots like Bill Sali. Most of us native to Idaho were raised to be open-minded, humble, tolerant and accepting of others.

Party of God. GOP is backwards!

Christ was a name chosen by Constantine at the Council of Nicea when hundreds of “holy ones” from all over the Roman Empire were forced to bring their holy books and decide on a new religion and new rules. Krishna, the avatar Lord of Hindu religion was the god farthest east in the Roman Empire and the western pagan god Mirtha who celebrated on Sunday were chosen as a composite Christian religion. Lord Krishna became Lord Christ and the Christians have confused a man for a lord and a lord for a god ever since. There is only one God of Universal Consciousness who listens to all of us. No religion owns the keys to heaven. The GOP spelled backwards stands for the Party Of God, NOT!
